Glad to see they're adding even more characters into the show. There's still the usual card games although the idea of a cultural festival being added to the storytelling is exciting.

That new pink hair girl is kind of an airhead with a temper.

Two new girls appear and the vice president seems to be pretty fierce when it comes to reaching her objectives.
And a blond girl towards the end but she still needs an introduction.

Anyway i guess we will be seeing more of the Vice president.

Another great episode. Loved the games and that her dream is something that's not usual, and the pink haired girl really trashtalked it. I like how the characters also develop through games. New characters incoming sounds great as well. And finally, I game that I know. I played Catan a little more than a month ago. Hope they play it on the show.

Well, that was a nostalgia bomb for me. 6 nimmt is one of the games I played in family holidays when I was still in school. It is a great game until you figured out the optimal strategy, after that it only stays good if you swap out the people you play with, otherwise it becomes a bit predictable.

Seems like next ep is gonna feature the last main member

Ngl I kind of like the side chars that have a short introduction and all and how these get connected to the main cast and play some game.
This time though I didn't really like it. That weird student council story in the first half was so unrevelant tbh
Maybe it's just me.
And that girl is one type of charcters I just dispite. Saying stuff like "I know Midori best" yet laughs at her dreams

I actually liked Ren, but I wish they didn't make her lose though.

The only boring thing on this episode was the game itself. The fuck, a cow board game?

I wonder when Japan/anime is going to move away from their obsession with Germany. They must really miss being an axis power, huh? It still strikes me as strange that they'd have a German game shop in this anime instead of most anywhere else where board games are more popular and manufacturers are more prominent.

??? I don't understand this comment. Eurogames are among the most popular and has the most prominent manufacturers. Why would it be weird that a shop specializing in eurogames sells eurogames?

For reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurogame

I have no idea why you're bringing world war 2 into this either.

hmm, being a game designer is a nice dream to have. :)

the game featured this time is a bit complicated, but fun when I understood the rules a bit.

best game for me is still the treasure hunt on the previous episode.

New girl Ren Shibusawa takes the helm this episode. To question her is definitely needing to read her like a book, at most for Aya and Miki.

To outwit her, the Eurogame of 6 Nimmt is played. Wow I have good memories of playing this card game. Definitely a game of skill and wits. Aya's constant misfires and Miki's innocence played to effect. Eurogames definitely have changed the landscape of how games are being made back in time, period.

Speaking back, it's a good dream to have games, much less aspire to be a boardgame maker for Midori. Challenge accepted and challenge taken. Let that dream run big.

Nice episode, if not a tad bit on the boring side.

I played Catan when I was around 7 years old and didn't have noteworthy trouble of understanding the principles and general strategy. There's a reason it's such an immensely popular gateway and family game that's still played a lot after almost 25 years. \o/

As far as I am aware, video games don't have a history longer than books and certainly haven't existed since ancient times (;
But I get what you mean if we exclude the history aspect.

Uhm... I mean fact of the matter is board games like this are by far the most popular in Europe and in particular Germany is where a lot of the most famous one have originally been made in. Anyone that actually plays board games frequently can verify this

If you were to make an anime about board games like this then it'd be basically impossible to not give some credit to the origin of the craft or at the very least mention it

Ehh I wouldn't say that. Catan wasn't the absolute first one I played but I must've been maybe 8 or 9 when I first got that and I could definitely get the hang of it. Children learn quickly

It was a fun episode with a touching ending. I thought board games were just Midori's hobby, but in reality, being a game author is her dream. The way he described the games and why they seem so wonderful, I loved it. Like the vice president, I also thought that board games were not so exciting, but everything changed when my brother took me to play them in a place where you could play for free, you just had to pay for what you consumed, ... and I mean they are really fun and exciting, since that day my perspective on board games changed completely and became one of my favorite forms of entertainment. It's just a matter of trying new things, you might be surprised.
Thanks to this anime I learned that the largest board game production comes from Germany.

Ps: I had not realized that Midori's voice is interpreted by Ogata (Bokuben) seiyuu herself.

I really love this series and this episode as well... and well i love how they have defended that games (board) are not that fun and outdated.

It may be true that board games are a little bit outdated in this present era due to digital era but the FUN IT BRINGS IS GREAT... i remember my childhood days when me , my younger siblings and with our cousins are playing board games. And while we are playing board games, it so much fun since it also serves as a BONDING MOMENT AT EACH OTHER, when you are playing games, you can share stories face to face with one another.

Thats why maybe i am enjoying so much watching this one.

A good episode. I liked how the game wasn't just fun and interesting to watch, but also reflected the situation in how Midori explained it. "Forcing cows on other people" has the same vibe as the vice-president trying to force her values on Midori.

Also kudos to the writer (of the anime? Is this an adaptation? I don't know) for shedding light on the world of board games, especially that part about Alex Randolph and German board games.

The new blonde girl at the end looks interesting. She's pretty. Curious to see who she is.

Gosh, I felt so concerned during this episode : I don't / didn't play board games during my middle & high schools years but I used to play video games a lot. So I got easily triggered by the vice-president being too focussed on her role & calling hobbies unrelated with school worthless.

Board games are in a golden era right now, and we are getting more and more releases each year from all sorts of countries, sources and people. Of course it still can't really properly compete with the giant that is video gaming, but board gaming does have a very active niche and is growing steadily. ^-^

Most anime are about Bullying in one way or another more than the actual plot of the anime.

It adds Drama, and people tends to love Drama and Violence and gives those shows a high rating.

(example: see top 10 most popular anime of all time....)

Using MyAnimeList top 5 (there are a lot of lists out there, there isn't a "global" list of all countries rating in one)

1 - Death Note - LUL... just the title alone should tell you

2 - Shingeki no Kyojin - giants and gore, pinnacle of violence

3 - Sword Art Online - can't ever have enough Drama right?

4 - Fullmetal Alchemist - killing people with Alchemy is fun

5 - One Punch Man - whole thing is a parody of violence

All of them pretty much have overwhelming Drama and Violence. It's why people love them.

Meanwhile... lets take a look at the not so popular series (year 2000+)

#10040 - Duel Master - 102+ episodes, popular in Japan, not so much in NA/ EU (still airing) (this is basically kids version of Yu-Gi-Oh)
#10043 - Marie & Gali - 70 episodes... same as above...
#10050 - Danchi Tomoo - 78 episodes...

And what's do they have in common? They're "Kids" shows with zero Drama and Violence. Japan kids loves them. But NA/ EU hates them.

That's why most anime with high success tends to be those that caters to western viewers, because there's more sales.

Another card-based game introduced, add one too my reference library. I must agree that games is a bridge between generation, I have that experience where everyone with different ages sit together and play some simple games, such a nice memory.

Also, the part when this anime explain about the creator of board game worth to get a hats off. Maybe not all of us knew who worked so hard behind the games we love and that's why this part is needed.

I'm loving how this series keeps adding side chars and develops both them and the main girls through the episode.

We got a very interesting bit of history about board games in Germany, having your name in the game box is definitely something that would make anyone proud.

Midori's reasons to want to become a game author are beautiful as well, gotta make everyone smile!

Wonder why Midori's brother looks like a drug dealer... Honestly, between him and Manager's character design, I couldn't really tell this anime is about board games at first glance xD

Anyways, leaving that aside, it was another decent episode. I could have liked it more but Ren's character made it really difficult for me. Didn't like her introduction and hope she doesn't appear anymore but sadly, it seems she will become a regular now.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the gaming part and the characterization Midori received was quite welcome as well. Easily, my favorite girl in this show.

Really appreciate the info about the board games' history context and its creators, by the way.

Afterschool Dice Club delivers another fantastic episode! We get another player in the form of Ren, who had a past history with Midori and needs her help for the school festival. This episode also digs deep into Midori's dream of becoming a game author and teaches us the importance that board games had across history.

Good episode, Midori putting some sense into vice-president by teaching her that value is perceived differently depending on the person was really amazing. Described me and my weirdness in a jiffy. Great quote: "Value is Determined differently from person to person. What could be trash to someone might be a treasure to others. Forcing those value judgements on others will never
help us reach an answer"
I'm team Midori all the way!!!
Lol, i even made a video
https://streamable.com/0gpm7
I also liked the president and his listlessness, "but why did you even join such a hard working club to begin with?" "oh i just wanted to see people smile"
Great guy lol. I can see why everyone in school liked him Maybe him and Kokoro could be friends.

Btw, kinda unfair how it's all decided in a game that Midori knows so well and her Senpai having her first game.

For those who don't speak german, "6 Nimmt!" literally means "Take 6!" as in take 6 cards

Didn't expect this anime to show me a different perspective towards board game creators, I always saw them as just people who invent fun games but to say as a form of art would have come up in my thought process

Midori is awesome character. I liked her first second i saw her but she actually surpassed all my expectations. I love people who have dreams and passion. She is also total bishoujo.
Loli vice-prez is cute too, too bad, she is just another recurring character.
Can't wait when beautiful foreign character will join the group. Not in the next episode for sure :(
