Haha, Lord El-Melloi II let loose his anger a bit there. Luvia also showed up this episode.

Gray's magical abilities continues to display her abilities although I wonder how much she can improve. I find it interesting that she's on her own personal mission to help Lord El-Melloi this episode though.

The best girl's here bois, the show done it .. the show won this season + they gave us the clay girl too, thats twice the best.

But other than that, we back at the Clock Tower with another crazy magus trying to get into the root, by as usually crazy methods. There were also a couple of camoes. What i like is how they addressed the castle case from previous books, seems they will be connecting some ends, thats a good sign.

Also

Whos this little fella ? Is he Gordes's son ?

Also x2 They did FGO reference REEEEEEEEE

I'm a simple man, I see Luvia, I like it. Nedeed more "ohohohohos!" however, but I'm going to think she reserves those when she interacts with Rin.
I kinda expected a full blown battle against the old magus and his giant Raichus, but it was nice to see Waver using the head to end the conflict faster and without spilling blood.

Seeing Caules's room having that poster with (I pressume to be) Frankenstein's monster was a nice detail.

It means 2 spots reserved for the Magus Association to join the 5th Holy Grail War in Fuyuki (Fate stay night) has been taken. These two should be Atram and Bazette (Caster and Lancer's Masters)

Damn! I was love those cameos, Luvia, Caules and even a fat boi seems to be related to Gordes Musik.

Waver recalling a past from Zero, an underground magecraft workdshop.

Magus freaking out to internet and modern tech such as computers is fun to watch, then Caules with FranBersekr reference.

I'm glad I've watch and read other TM stuffs to further enjoy this series.

So many familiar faces, Luvia, Caules and some others where I don't remember the names of. I like that. Episode itself was okay, wasn't much action but those electric bunnies looked cool.

Thought the episodic setting was gonna continue, but that post credit scene changed my mind.

Hopefully they will keep on brining the references to the other Fate series, it's really triggers some good memories of the franchise.

Good episode, Gray is cute. Waver investigate about the occurance, where he chill. Its giant rats with lightning, with old man controlling them. And nice to see cameos of characters from other fate verse. Luvia appears. Smug imouto planning something. To the next episode.

A pretty good episode, with a couple of familiar faces.
Luvia made her appearance in this episode, as a student in the school of Lord El Melloi II, I hope she has more appearances in future episodes, I love her way of speaking and also how striking she is. It left me intrigued of what it was that Reines wanted to talk to her.

Caules will also be part of this anime, I liked that reference of Frank-chan in the poster, apparently Caules will have the role of informant, although it is only a guess.

Flat and Swin must take the clues that Waver left to clarify a new mystery in which the teacher's favorite cafeteria was affected.

I laughed at how obsessed Swin is about Gray, although I do not blame him, but he should stop acting like a stalker, since poor Gray apparently has the wrong idea and she thinks Swin hates her.

What a courteous and dignified way to defeat an enemy, Waver knew how to use his arguments to demoralize the poor old man.

I have two doubts
First: who is the girl with twintails and pink hair? I do not remember her anywhere.
Second: what Reines mentions when she and Luvia interrupted Waver and Gray's lunch, she was referring to the war of the holy grail of Fate / stay Night?
I am very curious about the reaction Waver had when he is listening to Luvia's words.

Reines and Luvia would make a deadly combo. XD

Also does this story take place after the inheritance arc? I thought this show was gonna cover that part.

So many shoutouts to the other Fate franchises indeed.

Caules and (presumably) a mech version Frankenstein on that poster from Apocrypha.

Charles Babbage on that same Poster from Grand Order.

Luvia from her multiple appearances (UBW and the Illiya series)

And we even had an ugly Merlin impostor in the shape of that killer electric bunny :P

Not to mention the overall story of magecraft in everyday modern London.
All coming together because Waver couldn't get his shit together without his favorite brewed coffee.
This series is a shout out to everything good about the franchise. I'm loving it!

I didn't recognize her with asymetric drill distribution. Not enough ohohoing for her grand entrance.

I'm afraid not. The events of this episode happen after that arc and Luvia actually references it here. It's the line regarding the Castle of Separation (AKA Adra Castle).

That arc won't be adapted in the anime.

Transforming "Volumen Hydrargyrum" into a maid. I wonder how Kayneth would have reacted...

Good episode overall. So many cameos and I just loved every single one of them. Especially Luvia's little appearance which was a really pleasant surprise. I hope she has more screentime from now on.

I'm also not really into FGO but if that "girl" from the poster in Caules's room was indeed a reference to Fran-chan, then it was a really lovely detail.

And that post credit scene tho... it seems next episode will be focused on the 5th. HGW. Can't wait for it!

MAL just copied that summary from the TM wiki, which is only correct for the novels and manga.

From what I understand, while Luvia isn't a regular like Gray, Svin and Flat, she gets a fair share of screentime in later volumes.

Also, if you want to see more of Luvia, you can just read the manga, which has just finished adapting the entire Adra Castle arc.

I might do that, I seem to never keep up with manga though.
I can read the book too I suppose if there is a decently formatted English version

I just feel kinda...why adapt a later chapter and not an earlier chapter. They adapted the prologue...why, Japanese people? why you do this?

I liked it, but lets be real the first half of the series will be worth it just for the cameos and references.

I dont mind. But Those that arent familiar with Type Moon(Fate isnt the only thing in this universe) wont think much of it.

Just for this ep you must be familiar with Fate/Zero(duh),Fate/hollow Ataraxia(Bazett and Luvia, and no, Prisma Ilya doesnt count), Fate/Apocrypha(Caules and mention of Fiore and also Homunculi) ,FGO(Babbage joke cameo along with Fran),FGO part 2(Goldolf), Fate/Strange Fake(since it was Flat's first real introduction and character establishment),Unlimited Blade Works anime(Atram).

Because, according to Makoto Sanda (the author), the first 3 volume's pacing just does not suit a TV series well, where they'd need to have a cliffhanger or a mini-climax at the end of every episode, and would work way better as a movie.

Not to mention, these volumes are largely filler and they'd take up to 9 episodes to adapt and they do almost nothing in terms of building up to the overarching story.

The original content, on the other hand, foreshadows concepts, like Mystic eyes which will be huge for the arc adapted in episodes 7 through the finale, introduce characters in a more concise and quick fashion, gets the world building out of the way faster and most important of all, deliver a satisfying end each episode instead of feeling like a part 1 of a story.

Also, who knows, if the anime does well, they may do a movie adaptation of those arcs. They went out of their way to tell us that the anime is in the same continuity with the LN and these events did happen, which seems strange if they reference events they don't plan on ever telling us.

This instance is very different, though.

Adra Castle is different because there IS a source material detailing all the events of that event that they're making a conscious decision not to adapt.

I have to say this is definitely the best material outside of the original fate routes that has become adapted since Fate/Zero.

Kaleid was just a bit to childish for me(it gets better in the far later arcs)
Apocrypha was alright but i just never felt the same since of pleasure as i did from watching, UBW, HF etc/
Fate Extra the anime version was just a fking disaster,
Grand Order was more or less a tease and the next few ones skipped most of the story to focus on the end soo..

This one on the other hand is helping expanding the lore while giving time to absorb and process information a lot more easier so you dont have to be so invested in the whole fate universe before hand and Waver's character is so releatable and more down to earth when compared to others a true people's person unlike most magi who are just so arrogant and obnoxious that it is intoxicating.

Looking foward to whats next :)

HOLY FUCKING SHIT I LOVE THIS !

This is what I want from the Nasuverse, not Apocrypha and Extra bullshit, just a good show with enough use of his original material to make it even better.

The mystery is not the best to elucidate but it still has this good use of interesting magical elements, more exposition about how the universe works and just enjoyable task accomplishment.

Once again so many clever reference to BROSKANDAR by Waver and why he acts this way to fullfill his goal, alongside Gray is still the fucking cutest Saberface ever created (don't try to tell me Nero or Jeanne are cuter than this) Flatt is really fun to watch and bring decent comedic scenes but Svin on the other hand is just getting trolled all over again (at least he's badass in this werewolf form).

I absolutely despise and HATE every aspect of Luvia so I'm passing her BUT CAULES OH MY GOD I DIDN'T EXPECTED THAT AND THIS IS SOOOOOOO COOL !!! I didn't know I wanted to see Caules bragging about PCs but now I don't regret having seen it.

They're actually mentionning the Holy Grail War so I'm about to lose litter of cum once again.

Seriously though, Bazett aside, Prisma Illya gives way more characterization to Luvia than HA ever did.

All she did in HA was say "Shero" and act like Rin stabbed her cat. In Prisma Illya, however, we see her badass side when she fights, her caring side in her relationship with Miyu, her side that deep down acknowledges and respects Rin's talent despite her personal feelings, and both of her humane and mage sides throughout the story.

And this is all without mentioning how we actually got to see her magic, which doesn't happen in HA at all.

If someone wants to truly know Luvia, screw HA, Prisma Illya is where that shit is at.

What if you knew Rin only from Kaleid? That is my issue.Aside from Miyu's part, everything else is an exaggeration of the already exaggerated HA jokes.
The part where they first meet in HA's flashback is a lot better than the backstabbing-friends relationship they have in Kaleid.

Well, you specifically highlighted Bazett and Luvia. It didn't seem like you were talking in general terms, but just of those characters.

Luvia literally suplexes Rin the first time they met in HA and calls all Japanese an inferior race not fit or worthy to study and practice the Mystics.

What she does in Prisma is way tamer than that, man. Prisma Illya actually makes her likable and three-dimensional by revealing more sides to her than "Tohsakas are the Devil" and "Shero~".
