| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I'm starting to used to the CG of this show now... Not bad this episode. It featured more of Kai's development as a person and pianist. It seems that he really wants to prove himself to others. It's also neat to see some focus on Amamiya, another pianist. Especially at their age, competition is fierce and everyone wants a chance to shine. Idk how to feel about Maruyama this episode though. She is more outspoken compared to the others but it's her way of expressing anger. |

| Kai was dogzoned in this episode, but he seemed not to mind it. |
| Takako was pretty irritating at first,but thanks to Kai she got her confidence back,even tho he had to become a dog in order to achieve that xD I'm also a bit bewildered that his mom just tagged along without changing clothes. Well, at least she knows how to clean them properly. Overall good episode again,really starting to like this. |

| So the battle has started. Showed Kai trying to improve his piano skills and develop his own piano style, not just copying Ajino. Kai's mom going out casually without changing her clothes LOL, what a mom. We get a new character this episode. She was annoying in the beginning but we get why she was like that. She has a weird personality. Kai trying to calm her down was a good scene because it also made him realise what Ajino wanted to say. Amamiya's perfomance was ok, the music played was beautiful indeed but it was so short sadly. I need to get used to that CG. |

| The presentation is definitely picking up, but the performances need to have a little more flair/charm to them. Shu's performance was good but it could've been presented in a far better way. I'm hoping they do a better job with Kai's performance next episode, they're still lacking the charm the movie had when it comes to performances. Rei-chan is so lovable. <3 'The only enemy is the one within you'. :) Looking forward to the next episode. |

| Guess they managed to cram/condense the whole movie into this many (more or so) which almost comes to an end (next week), since for people whom have watch the movie prior EITHER OR like want things to get going. Getting used to the CG which will exist in all playing sequences (I hope), guess this will be the rendition of how it's going to turn out. Gainax's mimicry for Madhouse's movie is certainly working for now, kinda hoping in wonder for the remainder of the manga adaptation. |

| Do I sense something between Rei and Amamiya sensei?!?!?! I'm curious to see how Takako and Kai's relationship evolves after this. I mean hell she call him Wendy lol. Plus them being older at during the ending makes me more curious. |

The reason you feel that way is because of the absurd amount of stuff this adaptation has left out. This episode adapted about 6 chapters, which is actually the least amount so far, but still managed to leave out all the characterization/backstory for Takako and Shiraishi (the old woman). So I can't blame you for thinking the toilet and dog thing as weird. I wish this could have gotten the treatment 3-Gatsu no Lion did by Shaft, because they did a phenomenal job. Oh well, I hate to keep complaining. It seems most anime only are enjoying this, and I typically love musical performances in anime, but this has just kinda been a feelsbadman experience for me. |

The manga is on my radar and I'll probably check it out eventually. So far the anime is decent for me. But the way Takako and Kai acted there, I was struggling to suspend my disbelief. I understand anime usually doesn't portray relationships between two people realistically, but that was just too ridiculous. |

| That was fast, i mean Wendy being so close to Kai-kun! (even-though they just met the first time) I'm just waiting for Kai-kun to wreck them all and make the judges go on denial on the performance once its his turn! 4/5. |

| What a good episode. I really enjoy each character interaction and relationship so far in this show. Everyone is so innocent, and you're kind of rooting for each character. It's going to be tough to see who ends up losing out of Shu and Takako, and especially hard to stomach if Kai ends up winning. Can't wait for the next episode. |

| these episodes end too quickly I don't like it. Why can't the episodes be an hour long each? moving on Wendy was the true star of this episode. I wanted to all three of them perform but of course they end it right after amamiya's performance. Rei chan's parenting skills really are something especially when it came to cleaning up kai. |

| wow; couldn't wait to see what happened next, so was just gonna go a chapter or 2 further. Ended up reading the whole thing in 2 days. 11/10 manga. Now I can sit back and enjoy the anime but without the anxiety. Let's see if they can keep it up! |
| This episode adapted less chapters compared to the other last 2 episodes. It ended on chapter 35, page 10. I’m glad they didn’t included Kai’s performance in this episode, that would have been terrible. I’m also fine that they removed the segment where Kai is forced to dress like a girl by the landlord woman during his practice with Ajino. Takako segment was really bland here, I’d say. Most of her flashbacks were missing and her interaction and dialog with Kai was cut short. I had a hard time empathizing with her as a person and competitor the same way I did in the manga. Basically, I didn’t care for her in here at all, which is a shame. I really hope they do justice to Kai’s performance during the next episode (to some degree at least)... I believe that’s a good opportunity for some really cool moments (artistic wise), but then again I have my doubts this director will be able to pull it off in a compelling way. Anyhow, I’ll keep watching it because I like classical music, but I’m greatly disappointed with how everything have been handled so far. I think the potential for this (as a TV series) to be something really memorable and great is gone, which saddens me. On a different note, I still think they should have gone with Hanada Shounen-shi art-style (character designs) for this. Yoshinori Kanemori should have been the one hired to design the characters and Masayuki Kojima should have been the one hired to direct it instead. It baffles me why NHK* didn’t do what they have done with many of their other productions and made this longer, such as (off the top of my head, including the one you already mentioned): - ClassicaLoid (2 seasons of 25 episodes each) = 50 episodes - 3-gatsu no Lion (2 seasons of 22 episodes each) = 44 episodes - Kyoukai no Rinne (3 seasons of 25 episodes each) = 75 episodes - Baby Steps (2 seasons of 25 episodes each) = 50 episodes - Log Horizon (2 seasons of 25 episodes each) = 50 episodes - Bakuman (3 seasons of 25 episodes each) = 75 episodes *NHK series don’t rely on merchandise sales, but TV ratings, for most of their productions. |

| I like the new girl character Takako, and hilarious when she used Kai´s head to calm herself in memory of "Wendy", her dog!!! ;) Amamiya was cool in his playing, but I am waiting for Kai´s turn and his personal style because finally understood that his teacher told him!!! |

| I actually thought that Takako was really annoying at first but glad she seemed to get along with KAI in the end eventhough she treats him as his dog. I hope this will change in the next episodes. I really like Kai's mother tho. |
