Oh wow the wedding! I was hoping it would last a few more ep's before it happened, oh well. Goro needs to get beat more often. Momo-sama got her well deserved wedding.

Stupid kid is stupid. Making too much out of something so small as being bandaged up. So what is goro's goal? to become a great baseball player or to play his heart out? Because stupid kid wants to break his arm all of a sudden? makes no sense imo.

And progress is going pretty fast again. Considering the big plot twists happening so early in the series, it felt like a well rounded season. I was most surprised how Joe Gibson turned out. Momo better not die next season or i am dropping this sht.

"What happens when we die?" I know that the ones who love us will miss us.

Freaking Shigeno, where's Mr Gibson when you need somebody to be deadballed, even though he wouldn't be hitting. Just for funsies you know. He needs to die either way. If Goro gets a sibling, I'm going to kill someone.

WORST episode
FUCKING GODDAMN Fluke win, and that Mofo, Shigeno will be my eternal cursing object

ugly face = CHECK
bad joker = CHECK
FREAKING CHILD ABUSER = CHECK
EMO Old man = CHECK
LUCKY FUCKING BASTARD = CHECK

He officially became the most hated chara by me, where Gibson when he needed to kill this mofo.

btw the anime itself very entertaining I can't resist to marathon it, and honestly i cried at eps 6
but match versus yokohama is downhill and that Freaking mofo Shigeno keeps annoy me
so I give this 6/10, nothing special on critics point too honestly... hope the rest of another season better than this

Overally its good, I just don't like the romance developement between Shigeno and Momoko, because it just happen too fast. All of the sudden Momoko is in love with Shigeno, well if Shigeno can truly make her happy then its fine with me.

The first 6 episodes is very good as a prologue, as well as the romance developement between Momoko and Honda. I wish Honda could at least marry her and

As for the sport, all I could say is.. WOW! I am not familiar with the game, but as the story progresses, their players improve, and at the end, everybody on the team(at least for the regulars) is hitting the ball Goro pitches, well he did go easy on them, but that doesn't change the fact that they've changed throughout the story, becoming even more better character/player.

Well, the ending sucks if there won't be another season to continue where it left off, but there is another season, so I would say this kind of ending is kinda good.

Off to watch the second season! I guess the movie comes first huh? :D

Pretty good first season. Don't really get the hate for Shigeno, honestly it sounds like fan jealousy and exaggeration on the part of pretty much everyone in these forums. It's pretty obvious the guy cares about Goro, otherwise he wouldn't have tried so hard to get him taken out of the game and wouldn't have gave him that letter.

Also, I think it's pretty great that Goro loves the game and his teammates so much that he's willing to sacrifice his future as a baseball player. You could say he would regret it if his arm blew out, but I say he'd have regretted even more leaving the game and possibly watching his teammates lose. I also like how their win was basically a fluke. Maybe not in that exact way, but I've seen my share of real baseball games have crazy shit like that happen.

7/10

Yea, I don't get it either, well I was like "Oh no you didn't" when he hit Goro but it was like the same when Momoko hit Goro...But then when Goro found the letter I was like "aaaahw..." And then they lived happily after.... Well I guess something bad will happen again in S2..

Anyways, I think overall this anime was quite good, the first 6-9 episodes were like heartbreaking and this show made me tear up quite a lot because of sadness and happiness.. It had some funny parts in it and the baseball was entertaining, a bit cliché but what the hell did you expect... Losing 1 game in the league and then what? I think the 4th place was fair enough with Goro the beast..

I'm still think about giving this show either a 8 or a 9... In my eyes they kept repeating the same romance/drama scenes but then with other characters and the results in general were quite unreal...

Man I was expecting him to blow out his arm after that. Was not expecting the move away but that's the nature of pro baseball. That was another cruel fate card.

Glad Komori was all right in the end.

Gave this a 9/10, might be a little high but I immensely enjoyed this series so far. Now for the movie.

I just finished this in one sitting and I don't regret it. There may be pacing problems here and there but overall it's a very good series. Oh, during some parts, it made me almost cry. I don't know if I'm just being too soft or it was really a tear-jerker. 9/10
Now of to season 2! I'll be skipping the movie first~ Gotta watch this by the order of release date :>

And btw, am I the only one here who doesn't want Momoko to marry Hideki?

wow wtf.... why did they move away. I realize it was for the job but it felt like it was really selfish of the parents to make him move especially after his mother gave him that speech about not betraying friends. I don't think the two of them should have gotten married I was kinda against it all along.

Damn that was an aswesome series but unfortunately I hated the way they won the last game

in fact I think it would have been better if they lost it there (or at least draw (can a baseball match actually end in a draw?) )

the reason they won is because some random girl wanted to prove herself... but failed... like all the others who wanted to prove themselves because author wants to pull a random twist up his ass

oh well

The not saying the goodbye word but see you later line totally reminds me of the John Q movie of Denzel Washington which is one of my fave movies. But somehow in this show, Goro not telling his teammates about the move makes me angry. But anyway, its understandable. He hates saying goodbye now since his father died. And he had enough goodbyes already. Overall a good episode.

Very solid sports anime. Sadly, the strongest episodes were the first six and some in the middle. Would have given it a perfect if it had kept up the consistency. Will leave rating as a 9/10. Might decrease if the new few seasons are slightly better. LOL

I loved it.

Ha. What's with all the Shigeno hate?
The move to Fukuoka sucks, but I'll take it as compensation for that win over Yokohama. I hope every game in the following seasons doesn't end with Goro heroically securing victory. Losing builds skill and character, you know. :p

As for the season as a whole: Enjoyable. Aside from the evil triplets and all of Goro's Big Heroic Plays, the show manages to avoid the sort of shounen BS that turns people off of sports anime/manga. Also: I still have no idea why they chose to do off with the original mother and simply replace her with the school teacher. I mean, isn't killing the father enough to earn the audience's sympathy? And wouldn't mother marrying dead husband's best friend provide more drama than random school teacher marrying some baseball dude (part 2)? Author dropped the ball on this one.

Be it helmet or hat, it loves to leave Goro's head every chance it gets! Exciting way to end the game.

Plenty of emotional moments in this episode, especially when Goro apologized to Shigeno.

Well I wish I could have said that the marriage was unexpected, but MAL has "Shigeno, Momoko" listed so that surprise was long gone for me. Still nice to see that Momoko and Shigeno get along so well at least.

I feel like this series runs on bad luck and misfortune, such a dreary cliffhanger ending. I really would like to see Goro return to the Dolphins but somehow I feel he's going to end up playing against them next time instead. But at the same time I was happy that the team went from silly kids who didn't take it seriously to a solid team that's passionate about baseball. Even with Goro gone, they can still continue to play.

Overall this series was quite the roller coaster. The games were fun and the time spent out of the games was overflowing with drama and kept tugging me further in, getting emotionally invested into the characters beyond their time as players. The contrast between tragedy and hope was done really well and several moments had my eyes shaking up. 8/10, onward to season 2.

Damn, Goro carried that last game sooo hard! Oh and props to everyone else too, especially Komori with that clutch overtime.

As for the first season I gotta say I underestimated this show so hard. Never expected it to be this enjoyable to watch and many feels were felt too. I thought that this series was too childish and didn't have enough interest in baseball for me to watch but boy was I wrong. I don't even care if I get called a kid for watching this show. I had alot of fun watching it! ;D

Lol their faces on the way back home. Welp, at least Goro proved to the Yokohama kantoku that he could be a good player even if he's not on their team.

I love the author's approach. The slowly-but-surely pacing of the story. Sometimes I grew tired on the first episodes of this, but it was all worth it in the end. You get the feeeeels all over. The part where they won against Yokohama was very moving, you remember their hardships, the players who aren't interested in baseball gradually grew to love it, the fact that Goro wants to beat Yokohama seems like unattainable but they finally did it. XD

Oh, the wedding.. Good thing Momoko-san finally got married!

"If I hadnt suggested that he switch and become a batter, he wouldnt have died. So its my responsibility to look after you and Momoko." That's a nice way of putting it, but really its the same as saying: "I feel guilty so Im marrying your dad's ex-fiance for him." Nice logic.

Momoko looked pretty in her wedding gown. Too bad her groom is Shigeno :p

This was a pretty good show overall and I enjoyed it. My only problems with this anime is that there were too much luck involved in the games and the drama didnt really had a nice flow so it felt a bit forced. This anime is a 7 or 8 for me, but I think I'll give this one an 8.

I can't imagine how it has downs when he is already like a god mode pitcher and a great hitter to boot. Although I get the feeling they want to make him be like his dad and screw up his shoulder at some point in the series.

Anyways, great first season, although sad that he is moving away, hope that his "I'll be back someday" is sooner rather than later (will be really pissed if he isn't "back" until he becomes a pro baseball player and joins the Yokohama Oceans, not sure that will happen but almost positive it will given the type of anime this is)

It was a sayonara homerun through the end... Sayonara Dolphins, until next time.

Goro must be somekind of masochist, I'm sure of it. No one can play like that unless liking pain...

I feel really bad for his friends. They'll have a hard time understanding why he didn't told them that he would be going. But one, day I'm sure they'll understand that it's simply life moving on...

Well, it's nice that she married. She can pass to other things without forgetting Honda.

Now, off to the second season! It seem like it makes a time skip, yay! :D

it was an okay first season, i'm sure the series will get better as he gets older. this season also has some serious pacing issues, i hope they're at least somewhat resolved in the later seasons.

for the people above me:

1. pro sports players go where they're told. if you refuse to move teams when you're traded/sold, then say goodbye to your job. it's in the job description.
2. saying they shouldn't marry so that goro wouldn't have to move schools...just...lmao.
3. goro deserved that slap. no, he didn't just deserve the slap, he deserved a harder slap and very long lecture about not being a dumbfuck.

I'll give this season a 6.5/10 (which I might bump up to a 7/10).

I'm sure the seasons will get progressively better as they go on,so wasn't really disappointed in this first season (I hope they focus more on actual baseball games in the coming seasons).

They actually won that... even with hundreds of flukes it shouldn't have ended that way. This is pathetic.

Now Momoko just had to marry the guy. Not because she loves him or anything. It's for the sole purpose of the cheap plot, so that Goro and her have to move... Goro already lead his team to the top. Of course he will have to change teams and district now, otherwise it's just rinse and repeat...

"If I had'nt recommended Honda to switch to batter, he wouldn't have died. That's why I have to take responsibility and fuck your mother good !" That's how I see it :p
Goro totally deserved the slap though, and much earlier. Perhaps even more than one, since it seemed like he enjoyed it xD
To all of you bitching about the marriage, you're just overrating Momoko.

If the first 6 episodes were a stand-alone, I would've given it a 9 or a 10. They made me have expectations that this sports anime was something different.
Sadly, the rest of the season did not deliver. In the end it was just another random sports anime with your average tensai shonen leading a crappy team to heights they did not deserve...

6.5/10 for the S1 (bumped to 7 thanks to the beginning).
I don't expect much of the sequels at this point. Maybe I'll enjoy it a bit more this way.

Great season overall but last episode were pretty disappointing. Really disliked that they were able to beat Yokohama in such a cheap and cheesy manner. Hell even a loss would've been better than such a crappy win.

Not to mention that now that the team is actually working together and has some extra players Goro has to move to a new school because Shigeno got transferred to another team -_- It's like they're trying to make people dislike Shigeno lol.

Welp, on to the next season. Hopefully it's as good as this one was prior the last 2 episodes.

Yeah I wasn't really fond of the win against Yokohama Little. Like okay, they went even until the extra, but Goro should have either missed the ball or collapsed on his way. Now I feel bad for Yokohama Little because they would've won the tournament if Goro didn't get in their way.

Overall it was a pretty good sports show, really good coming of age story. It had some weak moments, but those were mostly game related. The drama and characters themselves were fantastic. I really wanted to give this a 9, but I'll have to settle with an 8/10 and hope one of the future seasons climbs up to 9. I don't think I'll ever see better parents in anime than Goro's dad and Momoko. While Momoko did fuck up in the previous episode, she's still better than most others lol.

The game is really intense but sad Goro can't continue for the next round. And they have no regret, so I feel happy for them that they beat best in Nation little league.

The ending is really a sayonara to his friends there. New town new adventure. Journey goes on.

The first season was fine, way too dramatic for my taste at the start but hopefully there will be no more death or death flags in future seasons, I just want to see some great matches which is definitely the most interesting aspect for me about this show. I was hoping it would be the other social and personal aspects of life too but at times when it got super emotional I just didn't feel.... anything? because it felt forced most of the time?

Anyways, hopefully it tones this down as Goro himself grows up but as the final matc was pretty lackluster too I'm gonna give it a 6/10. One of the few shows that came off as the strongest in the middle part for me.
