Lol, Touta doing cooking....definitely something that looked out of his character.
Surprisingly, his food tastes good.

The stuffed in a lot of humor into this episode, as expected. However, I think they're also trying to flesh out Touta's potential to prove that he can do a lot of things. Honestly, this episode felt like too much was happening all over the place.

That ambush in the showers was a dirty move. Good thing Karin is skilled enough to defend herself.

Nothing screams "Buy the blurays kthx" more than a huge out-of-place animal slapped over boobs.

The episode would be good if not for that.

They have Karin nudity and not Yukihime nudity........WHYYYYYYYYYYY (Not that I'm complaining) but WHY >.< Hopefully we get both at some point

Other than that, things are progressing really well and as an adaptation it's still not bad at all....I can't remember what happens after this point but I'm looking forward to experiencing it once more next episode

This censorship is really starting to annoy me

I mean it's like UQ Holder has much in the way of worthwhile ecchi content regardless but fuck's sake you couldn't have picked a more annoying and out of place cartoonish way to censor stuff than this if you tried. It's way more distracting that it needs to be. Still not as bad as the censorship in Shinmai Maou no Testament or Terraformars mind you but still pretty bad :s

I'm not going to lie the censorship does get kind of annoying. And I might get why, because of the timeslot it can be at of course. But at the same time that type of stuff does annoy people a bit because it will censor areas that don't need to and its also too big as well.

Other than that, I liked the episode. As an anime only so far for UQ Holder, I'm enjoying it at the moment (I'm reading the Negima manga but at my own pace but I was confused as shit with what people were telling me when I asked what to do, so I decided to do that).

That censorship is one of the weirdest I've ever seen, a little more and we don't see the fight...now I have to wait for the blurays.

Anyway, as an anime only, I'm really enjoying this.

Censorship is wrong and shouldn't be treated as something to integrate, it's always in the way regardless of how it's done. I vastly prefer this approach, which doesn't try to normalize it in-universe with some contrived excuse, over censors that try to act like they belong when they don't.
The censorship isn't part of the product and shouldn't be such, just give me the stuff adapted accurately and slap a sticker where the network forces you to and tear it off when you release elsewhere.

There's no point in trying to make the censorship seem natural when it inherently isn't. Something that clearly doesn't belong doesn't need to be made to seem like it belongs, just remove it for proper releases.

It's kinda like a slap in the face to the censors, not acknowledging it as a part of the product and tossing it out as soon as possible.

I knew that the drama and death would have to start again eventually. It was nice how laid back everything was while it lasted. Fun-wise, this episode was about a 4.5/5. The training techniques were pretty cool.

Am I the only one here who thought the censorship was actually pretty funny? Besides, you can't expect uncensored nudity in a television broadcast. If this show is entertaining in every other regard—which, in my opinion, it has been—you can enjoy it again on Bluray with all the service in tact. It's a fair trade off.

I like the episode... the fights are fine and some movements are really good... (although, I still feel that the rhythm is a little fast)

don't care that much for the censorship... is not that different than what I saw in other shows.... always annoying and hide more than just what need to hide (at least, a random Kamo is funny, lol )

Is it me or did a whole lot of shit get skipped. Like why they were there, the mission parameters, etc. It was just so vague. We’re going there because some hate poor people. Ok, why do you need immortals, why not report this shit to the authorities? If they won’t do anything, and will allow genocide, take it to the UN.

The whole tower thing has been annoying me too. Are they living in the tower now? Is that where UQ HQ is? Were they previously in the tower? If so how did they get from the tower to the slums by foot? Or how did the get up it? elevator? The tower and ground wealth disparity feels like a Gunnm ripoff.

Now that I've heard Karin a bit more, I don't know how to feel about the VA choice... It sounds a bit too deep. I mean, she sounds like a Jeanne d'Arc of some sorts, but I feel it makes her even less likeable due to the anime being rushed and all. Speaking of which, now I understand how rushed the anime is compared to the manga. Good thing I started reading the original, this adaptation is just bad...

That's exactly how I would've felt if I hadn't read those chapters this morning. The manga explains all that. The anime is really rushed, it skipped a lot of scenes.

I'm not sure why are they skipped the Karin and the robot dude fight (And Karin's Immortality showcase), but at least this episode are way better than the Episode 3 where it's completely filler. (At least this episode is just rushed) I personally don't care about the censorship but if they really want to censored the naked screens then why didn't they do the same to the OVA too? (Seriously, how did Akamatsu approved these stupid fillers and the censorship when he is the scriptwriter in this anime???)

It's seem like I get the reason why they didn't want to adapted the Santa/Sayoko Arc in this anime is because of the censorship. (If this source was true: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1674614)

With how fast (Or rushed) the plots is, I guess the next episodes mostly will be (Spoiler):

They aren't living in the tower .They have their own base. That slum is nearby,as part of a training mission. Why did you assume that the UN exists in this world? Why also assume that there are authorities?

Nope, some landshark wants the land.

why not report this shit to the authorities

The authorities like the UN don't give a f***k about those poor people...what a surprise.
And obviously the boss of UQ Holder (Eva-chan) cares about.

Or how did the get up it? elevator?

The tower is a space elevator. This sci-fi concept is in many anime shows - Zone of the Enders, Gundam 00, Gundam: G no Reconguista, Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki ect.

The tower and ground wealth disparity

The city at the foot of the tower is huge an rich, those are the slums.

God the voice acting is atrocious. Boy voiced by a woman, most of the characters using a cutesy voice, even while running at top speed... ugh. Bloody terrible.

Anime massively overuses gasps and breaths and then when the characters are flat out running, no breathing... lol, man, so bad.

Okey so this entire thing is only bout the cencorship. Alright guys what ever. That is so ignorable that it's not worth complaining about. Tho I admit the choice of cencor is a bit....dumb.

But to talk about the ACTUAL episode. FUCKING YES FINALLY. The anime has had me on very very low trash tear for the first 3 episodes with episode 3 making me lose all hope of a good adaptation. But this episode redeemed the show to keep me still watching because this was true to the manga and not harem bullshit bait.
they still skipped a few things here and there. they skipped one fight with a fake immortal who introduced the villain group but was overal not that interesting. Wich is fine to leave out really. But we really got a good show of Kota his character. In that he is very quick at learning skills but not at mastering them. and that he loves learning skills.

Great episode, they really need to keep this up. Because aslong as they stop the harem bait and keep more to the action part of the story (wich the manga does) than it can stop being full on trash.

Touta and Kuroumaru got their first mission as UQ Holders!, but it didn't go well. Please be okay, you two. And I hope Evangeline will arrive and just slay them. So disappointed with that guy who taught Touta the flash steps, though. I thought he was a nice guy or at least going to be a nice guy to Touta since they had a good brief relationship.

Touta cooking delicious foods. Holy shit. Haha. He can cook. I didn't know that. Haha.

That censorship with Karin was so hilarious. Haha. She's fighting that Chinese guy while naked. What the fuck. What a fucking bastard. DIEEEEE!

The animal is an ermine, not a ferret. Specifically, it's Chamo, Negi Springfield's "familiar" from Mahou Sensei Negima. He is a good choice for censorship because he is really, really perverted (to the point we suspect he is a human turned into an ermine as punishment).

They are here to protect the orphanage from some other mafia group. UQ Holder is doing this because it's their turf.

The tower is an orbital elevator - a huge device that gets stuff in to orbit cheaply. It is a major transport hub, with all the attendant hustle and bustle. They weren't in the tower yet, but I expect anime to feature the tower in the next arc.

UQ Holder HQ pretends to be a Japanese inn on an island a hour or so away from the tower base. It seems to be only accessible by bridge or by boat.

The wealth disparity is a major background element of the manga, but it is a mundane wealth disparity you can find in any badly-ruled country. My guess is that forcing space development and saving Mars had a cost of less money to make life comfortable on Earth.

Valaskjalf said:

Yes, depending on the exact type of immortality, it is possible to seal an immortal for long enough for most practical purposes.
Also, the opposition aren't exactly immortals - just really tough guys.

Well, he is a nice guy. Just prejudiced against immortals. Unlike the shadow-user, who is an all-around creepy.

Whoahoho said:

Karin seems to be very immortal, but not actually all that strong for her age. Either she is holding back a lot, or she just doesn't have the potential to be as powerful as Yukihime, since her special powers are unimpressive.
On the other hand, shadow-user is quite strong. I wonder if he is descendant of that shadow-user who always got naked in Negima.

It did sound like a good plan tho, but the problem is they're trying to rushing the plots by skipping some of the unimportant plots (Which I personally okay and don't care about it), skipping some of the good moments and at least 2 arcs of the manga (Sayako Arc and the Training Arc). Though I wonder how will they gonna cover the whole (MotB) Negi fights by 2 episodes since the manga was taking 5 chapters to finishing, I don't think 2 episode are able to cover up the rest of the fight unless they skipped some plots. (Not to mention 4 of the chapters was 40 pages per chapter due to the manga has changed to monthly after Chapter 128)

In the end it may still better than what Negima anime has be given lol.

I think Karin is not powerful as Eva was since she can't even beat Touta after he mastered Magic Cancel and Magia Erebea abilities in the later chapters.

Maan, would they be throwing teachers on him in such stupid way? Also, where is the rest of UQH, don't tell me they can't see those fires (fireworks on brigth day.. well).

Also, the censhorship was maybe too much this time (like 1/4 of the screen with ass censoring, why?) and I don't believe they would draw them nipples in BD release anyway.

This fight.. was interesting, even though Yukihime had to know there were creature like this there. Shame it was all just anohter plot device.
