THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Damn, some of the enemies in this season are legit tough. I'm mentioning those new trio of girls as they packs some serious firepower. At least Maria and her team are in shape to fight. The battle theme songs still sound pretty similar to the previous seasons. No surprise there. Bad guys also playing dirty by putting inncent people at risk. I like the pacing of this season so far though, not a moment to waste yet. |

Damn,Chris got some serious trauma......I hope she can get over fron this. And our new enemies are very strong! Their alchemy is fucking crazy! S.O.N.G lost all of their Linker, but I think somehow they could resolve this problem. |

You will need headgear to watch symphogear series if you want full experience:) Opening sing by Nana Mizuki hype as always, seeing the heart-shaped relics in action making it even better. Like the song sang by Maria trio at the airport scene. The enemies need to check on Hibiki, they should Hibiki can punch through the impossible lol. |

Pretty decent pace. We got action this early and that enemy is very long. Songs definitely have the vibes from the previous seasons. |

OP visuals didn't seem as inspired as the first three seasons (except for kung fu bikki), and Maria's song and their initial conflict was pretty alrrright. Then by the end you have this head banger, Dess duo plane catapult and another pumping ED hook? aaand we're back. Extra points for mercy Legshots and Pirate Fine. |

In the previous Symphogear series, every single antagonists, Symphogear/Relic user had their powers, attacks, etc. related/connected to a theme or a mythology. Hibiki, Gungnir: Lance of Odin (While usually fists, some techniques and some cases are Lance related) Tsubasa, Ame no Habakiri: The Legendary Sword of Susanno (using Sword base attacks and calling herself a sword) Chris, Ichaival: Bow of Norse mythology (She uses far range attacks but main weapon is bow/crossbow) Shirabe and Kirika, Shul Shagana and Igalima: two dieties that are usually paired with each other in Sumerian Myths and both related to "blades" (Kirika's and Shirabe's bond and both using blades: a Saw and Scythe) Maria, Airgetlam: a diety In Irish Myths known as the Silver Arm (her Symphogear is known as the Silver Symphogear and usage of a Silver Arm) Then Carol's Group, Autoscorers: The Four Tarot Card Suits in Minor Arcana (Micha:Wand and Fire, Garie: Cup/Grail and Water, Leiur: Coins and Earth, and Phara: Blades and Wind) Carol: Faust Robe of Dur da Blá (A Harp in Irish Mythology called the Dur da Blá) After seeing the Op, I wonder what kind of theme/mythology the three new antagonists' powers/attacks, designs, etc. will be related/connected to: Transformation items are some Heart Shaped stones, Germaine: a Pistol (shooting bullets that summon yellow crystals) Prelati: a Kendama (becomes large and shoots its large ball and has blade on its top) Cagliostro: a Ring (the only thing I got is her shooting these Heart shaped attacks like an actual Magical Girl) |

Start from Cagliostro's ring and look closely, the ring design has a heart musical tone. Given that he/she is a trans, it make sense that she exposed the most skin. Her heart attack most likely related to music. Saint-Germain's gun, her design is close to old imperial general(specifically her helmet, I mean the chunk of cotton/feather sticking on top middle). Now the most interesting is Prelati's Kendama toy. At first I thought her armor covers whole body, weird? But after checking the last part of op(picture below), what covers her is actually an outer mantle & helmet, her own body is half-transparent. If you look at her as a whole, she looks like a Japanese Sengoku general. Well Prelati's is just a guess though, because I never seen this design(covering whole body) coming from symphogear series. |

Damn, Hibiki really can punch everything. So much good stuff happening already. Really liked the connection with Finé from season 1. And there's a shit ton of really cool new moves. Also the plane liftig was epic. Both OP and ED are cool and the transition into the ED as fantastic as ever. |

I don't know if this helps, but I forget to mention how Germain's pistol also shot a blue fire/energy shaped like a wolf/fox (right after the three introduced their transformations). Maybe its a reference to Fenrir since it was Hibiki who blocked that attack... |

i love how mythology wise it totaly makes sense that hibiki/gungnir could kill the snake. Gugnir is said to be a spear that NEVER misses. The snake manupulating time would mean gugnir would have missed which is something that wont work with gungnir. |

Gothic Nana is Gothic. Hibiki in the OP…was that referencing Ip Man? Maria in a sports bra is just HHNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG! And Ogawa gets to check out all of her angles. Lucky him. Well I'm never skipping the OP this season. Also, doesn’t this reference another movie? Million-Dollar Baby was it? Shirabe in the Roller-skates lol. Wait a minute…Saint-Germain uses guns. Chris uses guns. Minako and Ayahi are part of Sphere. I better see some epic gun kata this season! Maybe a duet too! Actually, the OP just showed something that I was hoping that the Symphogear series would do. Did you see it? Saint-Germain vs. Hibiki and Kirika Cagliostro vs. Chris and Maria Prelati vs. Tsubasa and Shirabe They're pairing up the two characters who have interacted with each other the least. Now THIS is what will make Symphogear AXZ interesting for me. Hopefully this pulls through, and if they do it right, AXZ will be AOTS (and potentially AOTY) for me. TORNADO IMPACT! Sounds pretty straightforward for an attack name. They could have made it fancier, like “Silver Cyclone” or something. Maria scratched my waifu’s face! And they landed on a train. I was expecting another trainwreck, but they already wrecked the truck so… TYxTxYT said: P I R A T E F I N E IKR?! That better be an unlockable in XD! Fine monopolizing all the technology for herself…So she’s Ruby Heart now? Chris having to save a life by shooting him. I was looking for a scene like this, and I was very impressed. Sonya lashed at Chris, but Chris already understood what she did and responded with a melancholic “yeah”. Sonya does blame Chris, but they both understand that Chris did what she did to save the kid, and neither say anything else after that. Excellent execution by the director. My waifu says that she is tired of telling lies and wants to be honest for once. I can’t wait to see what Cagliostro’s backstory is like. The highlight of this episode goes to Kirika and Shirabe for saving the plane. It wasn’t a space shuttle, but it still looked pretty awesome. Shirabe got spiked monster wheels. Cool showing of heroism for the two girls. Maria’s transformation was HNNNNGGGGGG! And in case you guys haven’t noticed, Maria has big feet. The lyrics of Maria's song sound very similar to Ginude Airgetlam, and it sounds great, just like Hiyocchi's voice. FALCON... PAAAWWWNCH! AWW YEAH! YOU'RE A BITCH! First a scratch, and now a clean punch to the face. Maria really doesn’t like my waifu…Also, PHOTON CANNO…I mean HORIZON CANNON! Maria’s going to end up becoming Mega Man Zero by the end of this series. "Fist 1, Reason 0!" - Kirika gets it. “What happened to the invincibility?” “You’re looking at her.” BADASS LINE OF THE YEAR! |

I'm with you both there. I love the idea of letting Kirika and Shirabe grow without being completely joined at the hip the whole time. Plus I just like the idea of unique pairings that we just haven't seen. While these girls have basically been together since the end of S2, many of them haven't had real interactions with specific other characters. We've seen very little Maria and Chris interacting and the same for the other pairs the OP is setting up. Seems like a great chance to really create new friendships. |

The opening was amazing, not as good as "Vitalization", but better than Exterminate (who was a good opening, mind you). Plus for having boxing Maria, it was a cool detail. The opening practically reveals there will be definetely a 4th antagonist along with the other three Bavarian Illuminati and Tiki. I also has a question too respecting it. Who is that woman behind Tsubasa's "father" and Ogawa? At first I thought it was a new character yet to be introduced, but after looking a bit more the hair and taking in mind the brief flashback of Saint Germain, I think it's Finé. Man, I'm liking Maria more and more each season, that punch to Cagliostro was so danm awesome, practically the highlight of the episode along with Hibiki's epic appearence at the end rekting the "invencible" dragon. Symphogear never fails to be ridiculously amazing again. FateHero said: I second that. While I don't mind them being together, it always bothered me a bit that, unlike the other four Symphogears, Kirika and Shirabe are always protrayed as an inseparable duo rather than being individual characters. Yeah, they have to introduce the yuri thing and that, but they deserve their individual spotlight too.I am in total agreement. My number one hope for this season was that we would get to see Shirabe and Kirika develop apart from one another, pairing them out with Tsubasa and Hibiki for a while could just accomplish that. |

She never cease to amaze us in many different ways. I realise that Elfnein saw something happened during Maria's fight with Cagliostro at the airport. Her body was engulfed by blue aura. What actually happened to her body during the fight? "It's Love. Miracles have nothing to do with Symphogear compatability. If you want to make that power yours, reach out with your hand." Elfnien said when that happened, "I haven't given up, so you don't give up either. I shall take this moment, and make it an eternity." Kanade, back during the first season, was described as gaining the power of Sympogear through sheer force of will. This implies that with or without LiNKER, she would have made it there eventually. LiNKER smiply acted as a catalyst. And finally, back during GX, Hibiki was unable to use Gungnir due to insecurities about her actions. Similarly, Maria had yet to overcome her own past and insecurities until the end of GX. To me it seems it's being implied that compatibility is determined through the beiief's and mindeest of the wielder. The use of a Symphogear is described by Hibiki as "feeling a song in her heart", which to me strengthens this hypothesis. |

Why did nobody tell me that Symphogear, one of my favorite series, has returned on air? FFFFUUUUU- Though, at this point, there's nothing fangirly I could add that hasn't already been said. It will be interesting to see where they're going with both Chris' "character arc" (let's call it that) and with Symphogear finally using the abilities from their respective myths. In any case... YOU GET A POINT IN BADASS! YOU GET A POINT IN BADASS! EVERYONE GETS A POINT IN BADASS!!! "Fists 1, Reason 0" sums the series quite nicely XD followed soon by Hibiki's savage one liner. Lemme just add that near the end of G, Hibiki managed to take over Maria's Gungnir when Maria was basically on the verge of giving up. Gungnir (probably) recognized Hibiki as more suitable "master" and changed owners as Hibiki had more determination/willpower/whatever fits. |

"Fist - 1, Reason 0", I lol'd when Kirika. This episode was SO BADASS. Maria, Kirika and Shirabe really shined, and the song their song was amazing. Also, I that that glow meant that the girls will be able to use their gear without LiNKER. Is it me or did the OST get even better than it already was the past three seasons? If what was said is true, then one of my goals for this season for the users that require LiNKER to not need it anymore and have full use of their gears is going to be met, that is big for me. I do hope that this leads to development with Maria, and also Shirabe and Kirika (apart from each other, as implied by the OP) I got some new info for you guys: From Genjuro's Angels: Training The daily life of the Adaptors. It has been thought that the most important aspect of being able to control the Symphogear's power is not high physical strength or incredible reflexes, but rather stability in ones mental state. However, if that is the case then why do the Adaptors go through such intense training on a regular basis? That is to create a strong belief in themselves. To raise their level of "self-confidence." How much can they love themselves, as they fight to stay true to their beliefs? As long as they believe in themselves, they will always have someone to depend on and can survive even the worst of situations. With that in mind, suitable training menus are prepared for each of them individually. One could simply say that this is just the result of their will-power, but in reality each Adaptor has shown a slight rise in their link coefficient which has improved their fighting strength as well. |

Good thoughts, definitely possible with what we've seen and what you've presented. |

Fists 1, reason 0! Gotta love symphogear logic xD So now that Hibiki punched through something supposedly invincible, who would win in a fight? Hibiki or One Punch Man? |

Just going to be completely honest and say this now, but the new chick with the blue hair is incredibly difficult for me to listen to. I'm desperately hoping that she talks very little, and leaves that to her two counterparts. Also, am I honestly meant to believe that an airport was actually stupid enough to place a multi-story building at the end of one of their runways? Very smart..... |
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu has hardly any range as a voice actor, and is grossly over-cast. Yeah. I said it. |

I like the New Opening... Really Badass And the Ending... Really great. And the Fight Was great... Looks Serious and And times... Not so. But really now Sonya If Someone shoots my Bro on the leg I would be cursing and Be thankful and the sametime... would you rather She Shot Him on the head and say "nope nothing i could do there He was already a goner" huh? |
Front Hooks...Oh yeah... |
