A special talk event for Hibike! Euphonium has announced on Sunday that the franchise will receive two new movies, as well as more information regarding the previously announced recap movie. The recap movie, titled Todoketai Melody, will premiere in Japanese theaters on September 30. The two new movies, titled Mizore to Nozomi no Monogatari and 2-nensei ni Natta Kumiko-tachi, will premiere in 2018. The directors for these three movies have also been revealed. Todoketai Melody will be directed by Taichi Ogawa (Tamako Love Story unit director), Mizore to Nozomi no Monogatari will be directed by Naoko Yamada (Koe no Katachi), and 2-nensei ni Natta Kumiko-tachi will be directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Hibike! Euphonium), who will also serve as chief director for Todoketai Melody. Teaser for Todoketai Melody Announcement Source: Official site Hibike! I am on board the least favourite ship. The novel ship. The ship that is supposed to continue in the second year of Kumiko as the title of the third movie suggests. |

One thing is for sure is that I need to catch up to S2 when I saw this news Lol. But that's really nice and interesting to see :T at least especially with the different directors from the movies if that makes sense. Oh yeah, once I try to catch up to Hibike Euphonium S2 I'll see how this one is going to go, but I am actually very interested how Yamada will direct this one .w. after Koe no Katachi which she did a great job. |

Lmao if they decide to follow with the ship of the novel, the amount of salt delivered will be delicious. Actually hope it happens since they didn't have the guts to include it in the series. Edit- ah yeah I am ready for the salt "One of the films will tell a new story of Nozomi Kasaki and Mizore Yoroizuka, and the other film will tell the story of Kumiko Ōmae and others as second-year students" ANN. |

Robiiii said: Will there actually be ships or is it just some crazy yuri fanboys imagination that got out of hand? That depend on how will Nozomi and Mizore flim turn out. You can bet that Natsuki and Yuuko will have major role in that film too. That's two pair in one film. |

Heck I even knew about the entire romantic subplot because of some spoilers that I found (and that reason was because when S1 ended I didn't really gave too much shit about it, I found S1 rather average at best for my eyes). Besides, isn't Hibike's main focus about the drama/music rather than the romance, which is more so a subplot? I mean just saying, not trying to argue here. And as for the authors' intentions when it comes to their end, all up to them in the end of the day. It will probably piss people off? yes. But that's all up to them and only them I guess. Just my two cents. |

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi! I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom: "Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news. Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people. Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation. There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime. You should be watching Carole & Tuesday." |

Oh my God. They will make 3 new movies in total, and 2 of them are not recaps?? YES, SO MUCH YES!! I'm not really familiar with the source (the novel), but I think there's not much content left to be adapted? Will it be original stories then? Anyway, definitely will be looking forward to this! |

alcrowry said: I'm not really familiar with the source (the novel), but I think there's not much content left to be adapted? Will it be original stories then? Takeda Ayano, the author, promised her fans in her twitter that she would continue her novel and write stories of Kumiko in her second and third years because of the enormous reception and words of affection she received for her story and her characters. She didn't mention when she was about to start writing as at that moment she was writing a detective novel. I think KyoAni will have an idea of the contents to shape up the story around just like they added Nozomi and Mizore in their storyboard even before the 2nd volume of the novel came out (which means they had access to Takeda's works before they were published). It doesn't however guarantee anything that it will follow the novel entirely as we have seen in the first two seasons of the anime. They will have to work around A LOT for the third movie because in that movie, Kumiko will be in her second year and the novel readers know what happened just before they became second years. The anime adaptation tried to avoid going there entirely but there have been strong hints that they might eventually because of how they didn't exclude some of the key moments in the story while adapting the anime. Also, one of the illustrations created by KyoAni somewhat revealed their intention. Anyways, I think both will be great movies. I am looking forward to Mizore and Nozomi's Story as much as Kumiko and the Others Who Became Second Years. The first of the two new movies will be amazing because of Yamada. She is one of the most talented directors and at her young age (she's just 32), she has already won awards for Tamako Love Story and Koe no Katachi and also has been recognized for K-On! The Movie. The second of the two new movies will be full of passion from Ishihara. He admitted Hibike! Euphonium is the work he loved the most in his entire career which is a big saying considering his career includes some major hits in the industry like InuYasha, Air, Kanon, Clannad, FMP Fummofu, Haruhi, K-On!, Chuunibyou, Lucky Start. |

Anyways, it's not shoujo-ai, unless of course you want to interpret it as such. It's mainly focused on drama, music, friendship and a fantastic story of coming of age. And it probably has some of the most mindbogglingly brilliant detailed animations you'll ever see in a TV anime. The direction and screenplay were of top notch, too. |

Great, and now the PV focuses on Asuka and Kumiko... all I can say is, if you really think the shipping in Hibike is Yuri "fanboys" (it's mostly girls btw) you're crazy. Yaoi fangirls are the ones who make stuff up all the time, but even Yuri fans who know to be careful (like myself) were almost certain this would be a thing. It was teased to DEATH lol. And now you give me this Asuka and Kumiko crap? Playing off the end of 2nd season? Shame on you, KyoAni. Smh I have no hope for any ships, they all sank and are rotting at the bottom of the ocean >_> |

Im not sure from your response The dramatic aspect of the series is debatable. Some like it and some don't. I personally liked the drama for the 2nd Season. The musical pieces though is what makes the whole series worth watching. I'm a big band nerd myself (I play percussion) and the amount of details that the staff put on the instruments and the music itself is completely unbelievable. The "Yuri" moments in Hibike is just bait from KyoAni and it's not official. I don't even think it was in the novel. |

@shanimebib You call this cheer?! Oh right, you can't see my face... it's contorted into multiple layers of confusion and sadness. But maybe I've cheered up a bit just talking about it. Just a bit. Anyway, I will watch the movie with an open mind. If Asuka says "I love you" to Kumiko with a sparkle in her eyes while holding her face gently, I will understand that it is friendship.
