Pretty interesting episode.

We got a lot of focus on Gjallarhorn and their key members. It sets up for the final battles that I expect to be the biggest fight from this show. Pretty excited about that. Hope Orga and the others are ready for that. I wonder if McGillis Fareed will survive through this, guess we'll have to see. The storytelling of his past is rather interesting.

Indeed. Which explains why he doesn't have the same instinctive sense of revulsion other nobles and Gjallahorn notables have when coming face to face with Human debris. His past wasn't all that different, he was just adopted by the "right" person and rose from there.

My only complaint is that Ioq still lives. I hope Okada doesn't try to make him survive this. He must perish and be thouroughly humilliated by Tekkadan before the end.

Great episode.

Damn, Fareed had one messed up past. Sadly, it's left him to believe only in power and authority. :(
Barbatos Vs Ein was pretty awesome.

Wing Zero Gundam Bael looks so cool, I love the design. Actually I just love Gundams with wing like extensions. Wing Zero Custom ftw XD

Iok is under house rest, this is bad news. How do we kill him?

Yep, i knew it. I can't really hate McGillis now after seeing how he got to this point. Not sure who to root for now but i'd rather have McGillis be a hero here.

Gaelio! MY MAN! I liked his quick thinking of backing away after he saw the 2 on 1. That means, he smartened up.

Iok can still be a key factor here.

Bael looks dope!

Also Bael looks so menacing. I can't wait to see what it in action.

Yeah it was hinted back in season 1 and in Rustal's flashback when he met McGillis for the first time.

Finally we get to learn mcgillis' pretty fucked up past and for him to show his true colors. I do still kind of worry about the pacing potentially rushing things at the very end mainly cause next episode is action less from the looks of things. But thats a bridge we will cross if we get there. For now im just hyped for how everything is finally coming together.

We can now finally stop joking about it, this episode solidified that mcgillis really is space grifith

As fucked up as McGillis' past is, I never did understand why he had to do in Galleilo and his sister, specially when he had already had them both under his thumb the entire first season. His ideal for acquiring and restoring Bael really does seem like a childish dream to be honest.

As much as it pains me, I get the feeling that Tekkadan really sided with the wrong party this time around. Whilst McGillis' ideal of curing Gjallahorn from the inside was noble and sound (lets face it, the parts they destroyed in season 1 were pretty crooked), but the fact that he was already coming into a position of power on the council and was already beginning to grow in influence within the organisation already makes this coup d'etat a pretty poor excuse for what he's doing now.
I mean, sure it would have taken more years to completely change Gjallahorn, but he's got way more years of service than the rest of those old geezers sitting around the council table there. I just don't understand why he had to instigate the coup anyway.

To be honest I'm really confused right now as to what it is exactly Mcgillis wants to achieve in the end. The obvious part is to obtain ultimate power within Gjallahorn, but what after that? To free Mars and the outer colonies from unfair treatment? To end the corruption of the organisation in terms of utilizing child soldiers and Human Debris? What exactly IS his deal?!?

Ein! Finally here... a fight between 4 souls, two man. Deliver Justice and show them what malice they did!
Agnika Kaieru might as well shut itself down the crucial moment after seeing how dark McGillis is... or might as well see it to the end out of respect to a lost child.

The more I watch this, the more i doubt that Mika and the rest of Tekkadan was ever the main characters of this series. They had some moments where they show some independence, but most of the time they're just doing stuff for someone or being used by someone. They're just a tool/machine that helps the true story unfold, the Gjallarhorn infighting.

This episode's ending really made me feel that this story has always been about Gaelio and McGillis. McGillis has always been pulling the strings since season 1, while Gaelio, who started out as McGillis' "sidekick", is now his arch-nemesis. Compared to the them, Tekkadan never actually had an actual end goal nor do they show what drives them to said end goal. This makes me wish the whole series has been centered around McGillis and Gaelio. Too bad Gaelio as Vidar never did anything meaningful.

I dunno, there's still like 7 more episodes. I'm probably just reading into it too much. The writers probably got too excited with the Gjallarhorn plot and forgot the original main characters of the story or smth. idk lol.

Nice face reveal finally! We totally didn't know it was you, Gali Gali!
I think Gali just got cooler with that scar on his face and new hairstyle. Now everyone has the Alaya-Vijnana System, doesn't seem special anymore :(

The hype is building up as this just went up a whole diff level. McGillis was a sex slave for older men tho, I guess that's one of the reasons he went pedo for Gali's sister so easily.

So I was right, Gundam Bael was Agnika Kaieru's personal machine and Gaelio had the AV system (or at least something akin to it). I didn't expect, however, that McGillis would have an AV implant as well, nor that we would see Ein again (sort of). That pseudo AV system was brutal, it even enabled Gali Gali to ward off the murder midget himself.

McGillis's past was equally brutal. It does explain his thirst for power and obsession with Kaieru and Bael, not to mention why he has taken such a liking to Tekkadan. Perhaps brute force is the reason why McGillis promised not to betray the organisation (a promise that will likely hold true, given the current state of affairs).

Bael's mechanical design is also superb, it almost emanates power. Seeing a machine with a serial number 01 is always exhilarating, it must have quite a few tricks up its sleeves. The specifics of the AV versions Gundam Vidar and Gundab Bael use intrigue me.

So Gaelio and McGillis will face each other head on, face to face, the former backed by Ein while the latter is backed by Agnika Kaieru himself. The following episodes truly are something to look forward to.

As the end of season 2 is coming, i feel sad for tekkaden...it feels like they've got the wrong person to side for their lives.. As for mcgillis past, it was really horrible for a child to have that experienced...(if this was a bl im gonna root for mcgillis and gaelio lolz) back to the topic... Episode 18 focus really on mcgillis. I think obtaining bael is one of his goal to achieve his main goal. Ahhhrg!!!!! i know bloodshed is inevitable but my mind and heart is not yet ready to see the characters i love to die (if ever)... Feels like almiria is gonna commit suicide because of mcgillis....

P.s This anime is awesome it focus about some issues we are having in the present life. I know the story is brutal and it breaks my heart but this is not the same with the other gundam series i've watch since i was young and i know every gundam series is not the same but sunrise make MS gundam iron blooded orphans one-of-a-kind gundam series.

Gaelio revealed to be alive oh shit and Gundam Bael looks awesome, I didn't expect it to have AV or McGillis to have the implant, there wasn't any signs so far that he got the implant, and I see death flags everywhere, we may very well get a kill em all ending in similar Zeta or Victory form and it's probably the best way to end this on a high note seeing how much of a brutal tragedy the series is when it comes to the story.

I loved this episode. So much hype. Of course we all knew it was Gali under the mask. No surprise there. But even despite the betrayal McGillis gave him and Carta in season 1...I'm strangely enough still on McGillis's side.

Everyone seems to be thinking that Tekkadon is on the wrong side here, but I can't accept McGillis as the bad guy yet. He's starting to look more like a power hungry tyrant now, but to me it seems like he's pulling a hybrid Suzaku/Lelouch plan to change the government. And with how corrupt their system is, I don't think any of us can fault him for that. The part I mainly have a problem with is how naive this episode made him look.

Mcgillis has been moving things along with precise control this whole series. Why would they have him be working toward activating a legendary mobile suit with some naive notion of "everyone must accept me as ruler because I have this suit!"? It just seems like a very sloppy end to what has been a near flawless chess game so far, even if Bael looks awesome as hell. I can't wait to see it in action.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Ein and Gali Gali are now a super team though....I did not see that coming and I think that the concept of it all is pretty cool and fitting

But alas, I can't stand by Gali Gali because he's fighting for the same corrupt and stupid Gjallarhorn that I hate and devoted himself to Rustal who is clearly an evil piece of shit deep down just like his precious dumbass subordinates

This is actually a 100% possibility, since they can not fight each other until the rest of the series. Agnika became himself by fighting the Mobile Armours, McGillis obviously want to do it all "by the book", so that is one of the stops.

He needed to get rid of Galleilo because he was a witness and needed someone dead to pin everything on for what Ein did at the end of the first season plus he probably figured Galleilo would not agree with him Anyway. If Galleilo was left walking after the events of edmonton their would be evidence of conspiricy to use against McGillis.

McGillis started the coop because he new it was Galleilo under the mask which is evidence that could put him in jail before he can ever get to the top ranks.

No McGillis never had Gaelio under his thumb, their were close enough to have some influence but not to the point to make Gaelio betray Gjallahorn. Plus Gaelio had the authority and was able to do what the fuck he wanted (ex : using the Alaja system to revive Einz even if it was forbiden).

To me Tekkadan is at his Right place, they wanted to make Mars a better place to live, where their is no more "Human Debris" or "child Soldier", they wanted enough influence to change it, that why they accepted McGillis offer to become king of Mars.

Mcgillis made the Coup d'etat happend because thanks to Iok "fresh" faillure and using the Dainsleifs it was the best time to strike Gjallahorn from within. Also even if he was getting more influence Mcgillis wanted a radical change/rework of Gjallahorn system, which can't hapend except if he was in power and control of the whole Gjallahorn. (if you look back at season 1, the same thing hapened with Tekkedan when Orga and the other took control of CGS). And the Arianrhod Fleet is a threat that he want to get ride asap

So a Gundam Frame was hidden in the Gjallahorn HQ? And a dangerous one on top of that. Not a smart move, this thing should be hid somewhere safer.

McGillis had a worse past than I could imagine, well that explains a lot of his little betrayals.

I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this. I feel like Chocolate Man only wants absolute power and nothing else. Gali Gali, Carta, and Ein gave him love and trust yet he denied all of that. He said so himself.. that those with power take everything. What if that's all there is to it, for him? And getting rid of corruption is just another facade to get what he wants? Since Tekkadan went through the same type of childhood he did, he teamed up with them. Tekkadan also wanted power, no? They're one and the same (except Tekkadan is a family: they have love and trust, which Chocolate Man didn't have/rejected). Once they get that so-called power, then what? They'll both crash and burn. May that difference between them save Tekkadan.

I want to believe Chocolate Man truly wants to change Gjallarhorn, but he's so hard to decipher qwq Facade and more facades.. what the heck does this guy really want? I'd hate to see Tekkadan on the wrong side with the wrong guy. I feel like they did, but I hope I'm wrong. If not, I want them to realize it asap and switch sides. I don't want to have to see Mika end up like Ein... with Hush as the pilot ;;

Yeah, unless McGillis has another secret plan it is unlikely he will betray Tekkadan.

Considering hes betrayed pretty much every single person whose put trust in him thus far I dont see any reason mcgillis wouldn't throw tekkadan under the bridge. We still dont really know his plan yet but mcgillis likley is going for 1 of 2 outcomes, either a totalitarian controlled form of government with him as the leader or an anarchistic survival of the fittest world where the weak succumb to those stronger than him. The latter feels more likley but in both cases it really doesnt sound like he'd have much reason to give tekkadan anything.

or maybe im wrong, but with rustal's faction being on a ticking clock till their demise and such a decent chunk of episodes left I cannot imagine anyone else being the final boss than mcgillis especially now that the bael is confirmed his. There is still a chance the rustal conflict will last until episode 50/51 but I really doubt it. The only other final boss material i can imagine is maybe a random ass mobile armor or something.

Gundam Bael is probably pretty OP. 7 episodes left, I hope they make them count.
If everything is handled well we could be in for one hell of a climax.

I wonder if that's all there is to McGillis's intentions. No idea where this is heading at the moment, I think another threat is bound to appear.

I knew it! Gaelio is Vidar! How old are Gaelio, McGillis, Isurugi, Iok, Julietta? Asking because of curiosity. What is McGillis's real name? He was an orphan! He's just like Atra, being a shotacon for the older men for prostitution. Can't wait for Gaelio to kill McGillis so Isurugi will usurp McGillis's position. I can feel that Isurugi will betray McGillis to Arianhood for power. Mikazuki should just die already! He is so useless that Hush will take over his role as a protagonist. Where are Maruba, Todo, Dexter, Kudelia's Latino assistant? They should show up so I can see they dying! This is a kill em all anime like Zeta/Victory Gundam!

That may be, however, Tekkadan has something McGillis desires and ultimately respects – power. Considering he even likened Mika to Agnika Kaieru himself, it may be enough to stop McGillis from discarding Tekkedan. It fits his pragmatic (or even cynical) world view.

or maybe im wrong, but with rustal's faction being on a ticking clock till their demise and such a decent chunk of episodes left I cannot imagine anyone else being the final boss than mcgillis especially now that the bael is confirmed his. There is still a chance the rustal conflict will last until episode 50/51 but I really doubt it. The only other final boss material i can imagine is maybe a random ass mobile armor or something.

True. McGillis's background doesn't make him trusworthy at all. However like some people have mentioned, McGillis has taken a liking for Tekkadan because of their similar backgrounds and how they coincide with McGillis's ideal of brute force and power.
So depending on where it goes with McGilli's intentions I could see him planning on keeping his side of the deal. What would he gain from betraying Tekkadan?

We still don't know the extent of his intentions, he claims absolute power of Gjallarhorn with Gundam Bael, but to what extent does he want to take this control?

I agree that at least Gundam Bael seems like final boss material. Maybe McGillis will lose control over Bael? What's up with this Agnika's soul being inside? Symbolical of his brain or something?
I doubt the Rustal conflict will last until episode 50.
Once Rustal is out of the way could be the turning point for McGillis. He could ultimately decide Tekkadan is too strong to keep around and decides to take care of them now before they get in his way.
So it is still likely he will betray them, but the possibilty of not betraying Tekkadan isn't discarded just yet.

So voice actor Takahiro Sakurai has now played two characters that were subject to child abuse in their past. First with Yuuji (Grisaia) and now McGillis.
Finally get to see a Gundam with wings in IBO, love Gundams with wings. Also, Vidar is finally confirmed as Gaelio and what's let of Ein as a robot.
Tekkaden are really at a crossroads now with these war. Also, now knowing Gaelio is still alive.
They're really pushing the idea of Julieta become Ein 2.0 and that Yamazin seem twisted.
For the preview, I wanna assume the blood on Almira isn't hers and guess it's her father's blood.

So McGilis father was a pedo ?

Yeah it was hinted back in season 1 and in Rustal's flashback when he met McGillis for the first time.

When was it hinted? I don't remember.

If ''Iron-Blooded Orphans'' has a moral, it's that you have to be ruthless and play dirty to get what you want. This episode was no exception. We see motivations revealed and backstories told and you might get the idea that the people in charge of this anime are sadists or something. Sure, it might be fun to see the antagonists get what's coming to them but less so when the so-called protagonists are guilty of the same things. I began wondering if the protagonists really deserve the audience's sympathy no matter what they do, and the episode shows that even if the villains have understandable reasons to do what they do, it just paints the universe they live in a pretty bad light. Sometimes I think if I root if for the protagonists without any irony, I might miss the point of the series. Other than that, this was a good episode and I hope the next one can deliver.

Bael looks so badass! Clearly it and Barbatos are brother Gundams, so that's a nice touch.

I just have this sinking feeling that Tekkadan is on the wrong side. Rustal was the reason for Aston's death and the debacle on Earth in the first arc, but that was because Tekkadan was allied with McGillis. Besides that, Rustal hasn't directly targeted Tekkadan in any way, I believe. I'm thinking they'd be safer with him than with McGillis, McGillis has clearly gone all in on the power-hungry rise and will discard them sooner than later.

I'm really starting to empathize most with Gaelio. I just can't help but feel bad for what he's gone through and what he's had to become in Vidar. The worst thing I can say about him was he looked down on people, especially Tekkadan's "space rats," but clearly that viewpoint has changed. I honestly want him to to end up teaming with Tekkadan, McGillis has obviously become the biggest danger now. Plus, he looks like a total badass with those scars and that ragged hair. And in addition to his new outlook on life, he's a totally different person, really.

It's ironic that both Gaelio and McGillis have gone all in with the AV system. Gaelio always despised it, while McGillis used it to frame Gjarllahorn in the Battle of Edmonton.

I've enjoyed Vidar and Julietta's talks. I can't wait to hear what they talk about now that she knows his identity and what he's done to himself to be able to fight against McGillis.

Almira looks to be crying and her hands are soaked with blood in the preview. That can't be a good sign...

Either Kudelia is going to convince Orga & co. that McGillis' rule is going to be shit or McGillis decides to 1v1 Mika just to prove he's the strongest (kind of like the Wing ending). Whatever happens, it's almost certain that the final fight will be Bael vs Lupus Rex now. This also means Gaelio is going to get curbstomped and die soon.
