Another good episode. I really like how the realistic they put into details about their ideas to craft dictionaries.

It's a lot to swallow in at once but also an interesting process.
Oh that ending gave me the chills.

This was another nice episode. I'm really enjoying all the animation in this show. It's actually rather surprising that this episode was almost animated just as well as the first with all that head movement and such. I wonder if it'll be able to keep up the fluidity throughout the show? That ending definitely made me curious for next time.

Another great episode. Let's hope they keep up this quality until the end of the season.

I'm excited for the romance that's about to start

More people need to watch this underrated anime

The dictionary talk is proving to be a really unique experience. (Might not be everyone's cup of tea but you certainly can't complain about the variation in this season's lineup.)
Now i'm wondering if the romance will take away any of that.

Detailed animation still going strong too.

Really good episode.

This show is strangely relaxing, I think it's the soundtrack, It has to be the soundtrack, It's fantastic.
Very interesting hobby Majime has got there, The way all the people automatically form a line and organize themselves seems to be interesting to him. I guess that's kinda similar to how all the words in a dictionary are organized. Well it's no wonder that Araki keeps telling him he's suited to making dictionaries.

The toast was great and it was nice to see making a dictionary being compared to a voyage and a it being a supportive medium towards people understanding each other.
That's quite a huge number of a words that they've already collected and this is gonna happen for 10 more years? :O Wow.

The final scene was great, Had this real captivating feel to it especially with the whole reaching out under the moonlight/clouds.

Yay I missed this anime's OP! Actually the anime itself
I've been wondering if its going to be a love triangle based on the OP

Majime is boring but interesting, I can kinda feel him. Esp. with the pavements lines thing. That's what I notice too.

Man this really does feel a bit dry, making a dictionary I mean. 10 years. 900000+words in that storeroom, choosing 230000 words out of them. Sounds like a headache. I'm watching this for the romance mostly, also good characters (which it has)

Anyways, I applaud the people who are translating this show. Sounds like a really tough job yet they manage to translate it without delay every week. Great job.

That grandma is very nice. Best character so far. Love how she says "bosom friends" so cute. She gave some nice advice too.
I feel like I will learn from this anime. Seems worth it. Another promising episode.

And yay she's here! The heroine. The romance looks perfect already. Seems like she would be the more aggressive one in their future relationship, still understanding and gentle, just what someone needs.

This is why i love slice of life. Slow paced and interesting as hell with the dictionaries. Their explanations are so well done, very intriguing.

I have to mention the music, too, it's really good so far.

Boy, the last scene was crazy well animated. That was a sensational follow up episode.

I think this has the potential to be really good, but its just too overblown and heavy-handed so far. Those long-winded speeches are a bit much, and the stuffy soundtrack isn't helping, either.

Still, I like the dictionary concept, and the protagonist is compelling enough. A romantic component could make this go either way, so we'll see.

Not really a fan of the overly long dinner scene and the long speech but the rest of the episode and especially the end made up for it, feel like this will be a lovely anime. Also love the fact Maaya Sakamoto voices the female lead.

This is the most real show that is currently airing and I like it.
Majime really fits the job in creating the dictionary publication Tthe Great Passage" wherein he could put use his passion of what he does best and is happy to do.
Looks like we have a possible love/inspirational interest of the girl next door!?
The OST used on this show has full of feelings and emotion!
5/5!

Nice episode. I like the little details in animation which bring out Majime's personality as a person who finds it difficult to be in a social situation, yet he's trying his best.
The hinting at how the story of making the dictionary will somehow lead his own growth as a person is what is keeping me hooked.

The best part of this episode for me was when he peeks out of the window and softly says 'Tora-san'. It shows a lot about his personality.
Also, the last scene was just beautiful. His reaction to seeing the girl though XD

I really like this anime and i don't know why, dictionnary and words should be something boring and totally not something that would entertain me but the way this anime is paced, the characters and their visions and love for the job,the main character who really transmit his love for words with this sea of word really give me the chills.

This anime could be considerated like a masterpiece in 5/10 years i think.

Anyway i really like it for the moment and really hope it stays that way.

Really difficult in understanding, not in the totality of the story, but in some narrative passages. Under a pure slice of life perspective, the story is well calibrated, manages to be romantic and also conversational in attitudes and dialogues, really a great series, however, the final looked pretty telegraphed, who knows what role will play the mysterious girl. Drawings and animations, very good, ditto for the scenarios and the soundtrack.

Hmm, I would do without explaining what dictionary actually is in the restaurant that was bit of insult for most of the literate people around. But I guess it can't be helped as young crowd today is less and less interested in those things and in internet age they wanted everything to be served upfront for them.
This is obviously one of those animes that aims to spark some interest in this topic.

Also, the story with escalators was extremly naive, almost to the point it would be creepy if someone else told you this, I don't think it was the best way how MC could be introduced other that being weirdo.

But the rest of the episode was good I guess and it seems this series will be mainly about finding out all those interesting words which can work. MC's fateful encounter with Take's granddaughter was also nice, and I wonder how she stirs his character developement forward.

I thought one of three possibilities: 1)his ex, 2) love at first sight, or 3) the person he likes (who may be the real cat owner and he was looking after Tora).

Anyway, this show is fking beautiful. I love the metaphors, the visuals, and Majime seriously makes me smile.
The restaurant scene was very nice as well. I like how everyone is patient and understanding with Majime (except Nishioka).
Maybe I'm strange but I personally find Majime an interesting person, especially finding out his hobby. :D

I thought the exact same thing! He's so polite to his own cat. I don't know why, but that made me smile.

Maaan, I can't wait to see how Majime develops and grows with this dictionary. <33

My god, i was thinking if they add a female cast member that gets to him in some way the show would be perfect .... and 10 minutes later ....

Just awesome.

Some more information for people that are interested:
10 Years for a dictonary may seem like a long time, but you have to understand that there are incredible numbers of words. Last year i visited the brothers Grimm museum and (most people obviously know them for their fairy tales) and for a very very long time they worked on a german dictonary and they even had to start over because the meaning of words changed so much that they felt they had to. It is insane how much work goes into a dictonary and we are kind of blessed with digital dictonaries today that we have on our fingertips.

So far I'm contented with what we got in these two episodes, if they'll add some romance (and it looks like that) I'll be even more contented. Besides, it's nice watching adults who actually act like ones.

The pace is well balanced, I wouldn't say it's slow because the plot is moving forward after all.

I love this anime. The slow pace, the love of words, the characters, the soundtrack. I started to watch the movie but decided to see it after the anime instead. 10 years to make a dictionary doesn't seem that long, since there seem to be a lot of words in this one (my standard reference has 166,000 and it's quite heavy).

OKAY BUT I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE WHO'S GETTING RAGUKO VIBES, RIGHT?? I mean they both have a strong Josei vibe and mature themes. It's so uncanny that the best of winter was an extremely underrated Josei anime and this season might be the same!

Fall of 2016 is pretty poor when it comes to original non-sequel anime. But this is breath of fresh air!

I think it's impressive how they can make something like writing a dictionary looks like so interesting. I barely can wait to see how this is going to be and how Majime is going to deal with such a great responsibility. I'm curious about wtf was that on the last moment of episode. Looks real to me, so who is she? Good ending. Good anime.
