Damn that had me worried. I thought for sure Goro was going to lose yet another parent. I mean, do humans really just die that easily? I think he would have quit baseball completely if she'd died too.

It's too bad that after seeing Toshi-kun again after three years that they'd end up on a rival team that Goro's dad had been. That's not just any kind of coincidence, that's fate being a prick.

lol

I wondered what happened to Toshi, guess he'll be a rival now, but I hope that doesn't last into middle school. since he's been replaced as a catcher by komori I'm not really expecting a turn around in this situation though.

I don't think so, I think he's probably permanently trapped in the friend zone. widowers are much more likely to remarry than widows in anime.

Damn did Goro not learn anything from the ballgame with the dolphins? He can be a real ass sometimes. But Hoshino collapsing? Good grief not again.

And Gibson is back again? Oh boy.

Jeez this show really likes to tug at the heart, I don't think I could have gone further if Momoko died too. A really sweet episode with a nice message - more people could do well to listen to that and live for the living while honoring the dead.

Speaking of dead, Gibson...he needs to go away already, I can't stand that jackass.

If his mom dies too I'm going to just assume he is a cursed child and any parental figure to him will probably die. I mean that would be 3 for 3, would be such a sad life. Anyways, glad he stuck with the Dolphins, too bad Toshi can't just join them, although going to guess Toshii is a catcher too, would be kind of troublesome with both him and Komori vying for the same position (although wish the battery between them would be more . . . Well more involved I guess)

i was hoping that he would join up with the good team. But i guess you cant make any drama if he plays on a good team right from the start

The moral of this episode? Be nice to your mom, or SHE'LL DIE!!
No, seriously though, be nice to your mom. I am not always nice to my mom too. But we never when she or we can pass on :(

Anyway, Goro is the master at making everything wrong and then everything right in the same episode.

Fantastic episode, the right decision was made, even if it was only after a near death scare that came at the perfect time.

So Goro hates bossy coaches but doesn't have anything against his bossy mother-in-law huh. Guess japanese guys are just naturally whipped.
I liked Momoko when Honda was alive. Now she's just pissing me off. Guess the bitch needs a man.

This anime was already so tragic at the beginning that if Momoko died it would have just been turned into a comedy. At least, I would have laughed my ass off :p This hospital trip was just a cheap trick to make Goro change his mind.

Tough luck, Toshi ended up on another team. Bah, there will probably be an All-Stars arc in there somewhere, just like in every other sports anime.

What Shigeno said was so wrong... So it's better to please others rather than living for yourself ? Yeah, right, maybe that's why his wife went away.

The problem with Goro quitting his team was that it would've been a major dick move because he convinced his friends to join the team and the only reason he changed his mind and wanted to join that other team was because his father used to be in it when he was a kid. He was basically just chasing his father's shadow which wasn't really a good mentality.

Yet it seems you're too oblivious to notice the simple reasoning behind her behavior towards Goro during this episode, as the ones before, so you'll continue to bash a character that's behaving in a logical manner.

As for what Shigeno said I have no idea why you're twisting his words. He said it's better to live for the living than for the dead. How the hell did you interpret as living only for other people lol. The reason he wanted to go to the other team was because his father used to be in it, not because he found the team itself interesting. If that were the case he would've shown interest in it prior finding out that his father played there as a kid. Toshi being a part of that team was just a bonus.

Goro was being a spoiled brat there, so what if his father played there, he should live his own life.
When she collapsed I was scared that she was also going to die, too much drama for my heart.

Damn it, had me worried for a while, I don't want the best mom to die as well. Goro was really acting like a prick this episode, but honestly it is a hard choice for an adult, yet alone a child. Everyone would want to play in the same team as their parent they look up to, but leaving the Dolphins like that would be a dick move to his friends.

Yeah, it's way way too early for any more deaths in that vein. If the show had went through with it it would likely have numbed me to the tragedy and probably would've required a genre shift to address the sheer amount of damage that would do to a 9-year-old kid's mind.

We might have been talking about Gorou's potential suicide in season two instead of whatever happens with baseball and such.

Anyway, it was a nice episode overall I think. I also think his dad wasn't the kind of purpose to betray his friends, so in that sense Gorou is still following in his father's footsteps. "Live for the living" was a good moral, in any case.

Also, tfw Char shows up in Major. Lol.

Yeah... like it would have just felt like tragedy porn. Glad she's fine, can't believe I'm gonna have to be constantly worried about someone I like biting the dust anytime.

They waste food again, everytime I saw an argument in meal time, characters always leave the food unfinished. Sad.

I thought Momoko will die too!

Disregarding his wishes and even hitting him was wrong but I can see why Hoshino is so pushy on him staying with Dolphins as friendship and having an enjoyable time as a kid are important.

Certainly a difficult choice, but I wish they brought up the point on Goro not needing to follow the exact same path his dad did but should carve his own path (yes I know it sounds cheesy).

Why every adult related to Goro is sick? Its kinda convenient now, no even foreshadowing this time.

Be nice to your mom, or she'll die? No, its bad writing.
