----------------------------------------
Huh, it looks like this episode wasn't from the manga.

I thought episode was decent but had a familiar feeling of the previous case. By this point, I think Atsushi knows the danger involved in their work. The episode also reveals more darker side of the underworld. Interesting to see Akutagawa getting involved though as well as the mafia.

Mamo's character acting weird because of usual attempt again, and Hosoya-san's character being calm as always. Disappearance, huh. Visiting lab guy for more info. and learned that Hosoya-san's character has plan for getting a girlfriend and even getting married. A taxi driver is also somehow related to agency.

Abandoned hospital? Seeing a victim in the water, and more victims in the gas room. Getting tricked? It was one person who pretended to be victims? The driver was also victim who was used and the main enemy group involved. Hosoya-san's character vs. that guy from enemy group, but not finished. Talking about Self-bomb incident that happened in the past and Hosoya-san's character was involved. New bomb incident for next ep.

Seeing Dazai "drunk" for his attempt to suicide also his behavior for bugging Kunikida too is hilarious. I thought this episode will be just a few "mild" violence and mystery with more and more comedy in it.
And there Akutagawa appeared, making situtation become much worse.

Not really sure how I felt about this episode. Maybe it was the tonal shifts from comedic to serious, but i didn't really feel the gravity of the situation. I don't really mind the comedy between Dazai and Kunikida, it's obvious Dazai almost always uses his head even when he's acting silly (ignoring the whole, hallucinogenic mushroom escapade lmfao). I just really didn't feel too immersed until the very end.

To bad we didn't get to hear what Kunikida's ideal woman was like. I wanted to know lmao.

Next episode seems promising/exciting.

Nice episode.

Loved Dazai's actions in the beginning of the episode, Him teasing Kunikida is always fun to watch.

Would love to read the contents of Kunikida's book, His ideal woman seemed to cause quite the reaction from Atsushi XD

They caught the kidnapper quite quickly, I thought the investigation would last the entire episode.

Akutagawa appeared but he didn't want to get too involved I guess, Kunikida and him barely even fought and he vanished.
Next episode looks really interesting.

Every second of this episode was really unpredictable, like it goes from 0 to 100 really quick. Dazai was so funny though.

Finding the kidnapper ended up being easier than I thought it would be. I would have liked to see a longer fight between Kunikida and Akutagawa, but oh well. Next episode looks interesting though.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

This episode felt like 5 minutes to me

Either way, I really enjoyed the focus on Kunikida, and finding out more about to past, personality and ideals was pretty nice, especially concerning the hacker kid

That part with the university lecturer was hilarious and I wonder if Dazai managed to smash last nice considering how friendly they were lol - Decent comedy all around this episode with him involved

The case was fucked up but then again, whenever the Port Mafia are involved, this is a given....The fight scene with Kunikida was pretty awesome and I was glad to see that he held his own against the Darkness guy

Looking forward to seeing where this bomb thing goes

Kunikida being self conscious about his role as the glasses character and Dazai's face when he ate the mushrooms were hilarious. Not the best episode ever, but still fun.

I would be more satisfied if our Main character would be actually useful once, instead of always Being the target or the one that calls the police.

Unless it goes anime original he won't seem all too amazing until
if it even makes it that far. It'll be no earlier than season 2.

Good episode. Dazai at the start getting high of mushrooms was hilarious. Nice to have a focus on Kunikida and find out a little about his character. Also theconfrontation between Kunikida and Akutagawa was badass.

Lol Dazai going crazy on magic mushrooms. An abduction case this week. Kunikida managing to save Sasaki.
Hmm now I am interested in what Kunikida's ideal women is.
Dazai & Sasaki becoming very friendly with one another. So the driver was the kidnapper.
Port Mafia are involved. Akutagawa shows up. Really like Kunikida's ability. Good thinking with the water & stun gun.
Time to stop a bomb from going off next week.

I have respect for Dazai's VA... Jeez, when Dazai was high because of the drugs his VA did an amazing job tbh. I thought for a sec. that another VA was voicing him hahaha.
Also, I heard that this episode (and the next one) are based off the Novel.
Gr8 animation as always. I won't stop loving Dazai lmao.
I think that it's really impressive on how this show can change from weird/silly comedy into action, into really dark moments and suddenly can change again into something funny again. It's even put really good into pieces, like a puzzle!

Episode felt a little weird.

I liked the mystery, but the presentation wasn't the greatest? I don't know why, but I didn't get to appreciate the cleverness of the taxi driver's abductions or marvel at Kunikida's deduction skills. I'm not sure if it's because the case went by to fast? Or there seems to be too many elements that were thrown in that I can't seem to piece together? Or what?

Seems like a downgrade from last week's episode.

A couple strange occurences here too. Like who exactly was the taxi driver afraid of? The ppl who he sold organs to, or the port mafia? Cos that Port Mafia thing felt helluva random. And Akutagawa appearing out of nowhere... and having a fight I found rather lame -_-... seriously? Being electrocuted like that?

And other slightly petty things like why Dazai and Kunikida couldn't think of anything even remotely smart to deal with the gas prison? I mean, sure, first thought is to bang emotionally against the glass and lamenting at why these people are dying instead of searching fir a way to save them that didn't involve smashing the prison open (which they could've done and which might've even worked. Better than crying over ppl dying and doing nothing while they'res still alive)

Another thing is the surveillance camera footages that were used by newspapers to defame the agency. Who would do that and for what purpose?

I can't see where this episode is trying to go. What direction it's trying to take this series. And that's annoying. It just hopped around all over the place this episode.

Maybe the next episode will clear things up. I hope so anyway.
The most annoying thing about some anime is that they don't know when they've died...

Loved loved LOVED the focus on Kunikida, because he's probably my favorite aside from Dazai (the getting high on mushrooms was hilarious). Love their banter too. I do agree that the pacing felt a little weird, and the episode felt out of place. Was still enjoyable though.

Intro gave me flashbacks to that Cowboy Bebop mushroom episode, good times

Episode was a bit wonky. Kind of reminded me of the last one, but worse, because the "someone on the good side was pressured into committing a crime by a group pulling the strings in the background" thing feels like a rehash (and there's no Ranpo in this ep). Also the poison gas, and how Kunikida and Dazai didn't try to stop it, save from yelling a lot and banging on the glass. Felt kinda stupid.

Doesn't have much to do with this episode in particular but I didn't realize that so many people dislike the comedy in this show.

OMG this episode was pretty awesome. Glad to see that Kunikida was in the main role today. XD

It's interesting though that they're deviating from the manga. Idk why, but meh, I'm not complaining (yet) about it, since they're doing a decent job with whatever they're doing.

Fun fact:

It might have just been my subs, but Akutagawa says, "You're worthy of being Dazai-san's cover to Kunikida". Is it supposed to be partner? I'm assuming so cause no one has mentioned this at all in this thread and this statement heavily implies that Daizai-san is a double agent that still currently works for the port mafia. (If this is the case, he's probably a triple agent and still works for the agency anyway but still)

Other than that, Kunikida could have easily saved those people.

The starting was weak with absurd jokes by Dazai but the ep handled the backstory good with even a follow on ep!

CAN WE TALK ABOUT MAMORU MIYANO'S AMAZING ACTING
The comedy is getting slightly out of hand. I don't mind when they mix ironical/minor comedy in the more serious scenes, but when you have a whole scene merely dedicated to the comedy in such a serious situation it gets a little weird and kills the suspense and mood. If it weren't for Dazai I would be cringing so hard.
The episode took a different turn from the manga and I really don't know how I feel about that.

I really enjoyed the episode despite this case not being part of the manga.
The only thing that bothers me is that Kyouka's first real appearance is getting pushed back .__.
Then again, I'm guessing they added the stuff from the side novel to reach a good ending point for this season which is perfectly acceptable.

I like Dazai's honest and out-of-place comments in serious situations. I'm very interested in his past in Port Mafia and how he even quit working for them alive (and I'm also wondering how nobody is asking Dazai does he know Akutagawa from before because he's mentioning him a lot, just like in this episode).
Kunikida really was the spotlight of this episode nonetheless!

Ooohh, I loved the soundtrack for the fight scene. That girl in the tank seems suspicious. A bit of development for the main plot? I'd want the kind of "gift" that Doppo has. There isn't much of that "awkward comedy" this time, which is good.

Overall, this episode is okay. Decent. :D

Excessive comedy seen during the narrative, does not bother, but have not found the episode very addictive, it is nevertheless understood that we have seen only the prologue of an arc that maybe potra some surprises, we'll see. Drawings and animations, are excellent in their quality.
