'Steins;Gate' Rebroadcast Airs Alternative 23rd Episode

During the Tokyo MX rebroadcast of the 2011 sci-fi thriller anime Steins;Gate on Thursday, the 23rd episode of the series was replaced with an alternative version which branches from the anime's original conclusion.

The new 23rd episode, titled "Kyoukaimenjou no Missing Link," leads into the story of the upcoming Steins;Gate 0 visual novel. That game will go on sale on December 10 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. The new 23rd episode will be included in the Steins;Gate Complete Blu-ray Box, which is scheduled to be released on February 5, 2016.

Steins;Gate is adapted from the second installment of the science adventure visual novel series by 5pb. and Nitroplus.

Need to rewatch the series.
I know what happened in the special but it's still a bit blurry, like I forget what was the problem with not stopping her dad or why Okabe from the future didn't contact them like he did in the original.
But I'm guessing this is a completely different timeline rather than an alternative end so it probably still checks out.
I do wonder if this will lead Okabe into turning into the Okabe we see from the future.
Gonna be hella heavy.

Essentially this is divergence point in the timeline. This is the Okabe that goes on to record the video and sends it back in time to cause the events we see in the "real" episode 23. If I follow correctly that is.

It makes the Steins;Gate chronology something like Steins;Gate episodes 1-22, 23 beta, Steins;Gate 0, Steins;Gate episodes 23-24 and then the OVA and movie.

Seeing a bit of beta line is great and hopefully we get SG0 adaptation next fall so it all comes back full circle.

S;G was pretty much THE best VN adaptation of all time and I can only hope SG0 gets the same treatment.

It's been awhile since I've seen S;G..

Looks exciting though. I hope Steins;Gate 0 will be a full TV series although likely 1 cour maybe.

^This. It really depends on the length of this VN. Doubt they would only do 1 cour if the VN is the same length. You can't deny their success with S;G, no reason to hold back.

Just got watched everything last night till 6 AM lol. I love it! As someone who goes blindly without expecting the twists here and there, I love it!

Also the alternative setting is interesting with Okarin getting cheered up by Mayuri and didn't get encouragement from his future self. I wonder if there could at least be a Mayuri end... sigh.. well Kurisu is good too, but as an alternate universe, I expect something along Mayuri end.

Good luck to those of you that enjoy it but I would certainly recommend against watching this is you loved Steins Gate, Highlander & the Matrix but hated Highlander 2+ and those silly follow on Matrix movies.

Did you even watch the series?He doesnt waste his life,he goes through that experience so that he can make a time machine and warn his past self to get the happy ending for everyone...
