| Not sure what to think of this yet. My friend gave me the opening song and the "pocket" song heard in this episode back in 1999 I think, but I never got around to watch this. The first half seemed quite typical school life and then things changed... I have a feeling that this is going to feel average in comparison to newer anime even if at the time it might have been something different. But there definitely is potential for a grand story here. |

| Really nice first episode. Fast paced action, nice tunes and the animation the art style look great. But if i hadn't beforehand i would have might have been turned off by the mechas. |

| (rewatching again) I've put this off far too long. OMG Escaflowne in HD /drools They should go back to making anime on film just so they can do HD transfers that look this good. (1996, 19years old and still one of the best anime ever made and easily one of the best soundtracks) Just WOW at how glorious it looks in HD. Ok, so this is the weakest episode in the whole series, and that's only because of the slow start. This why I generally like to give an anime 2 episodes to hook me (and this one does next episode). Anyone not too impressed with this episode, just wait till the next one :D That dragon is still cool. |

| I wasn't too impressed with the romancey first part, but it got better once the dragon came in. lol, where they landed in Gaea kinda looks like somethong from The Land Before Time :p the ED reminded me of Magic Knight Rayearth 2's ED Not a bad show so far. |

| My fourth time since 2002. I tend to forget how beautiful it looks (even the 3D CGI dragon scales). Simple "regular day" introduction of a typical "lost in a parallel world" story. 4/5 |

| Off to a good start! Really liked the ending. The set-up seems so nice. InuYasha-ppoi. I really like how bold the protagonist is (Please give me your first kiss!/*slaps boy on the face*). The kisses on the ending already made me go doki-doki. |

| Giving this a 2nd go. I didn't like it much originally because I wasn't into Shoujo, but I've seen plenty since then and this was a pretty good introduction episode. The HD treatment makes it a lot more appealing to watch than I remember. |
| I'm enjoying this way more watching it fifteen years after my first viewing. I'm more willing to get over my initial distaste for the animation style and really appreciate the idea of the plot(even if the first half of this episode is kinda slow). Pretty content to have this in my collection. |
| The director's cut is stunning. Everything is so well animated. Look at that reflection of Amano in Hitomi's eye (no pun intended). Back then anime characters had noses. |

| I really don't have anything negative to start a discussion. I liked it. The animation was great and the music and sound effects were just right that made the pace of the story flow smoothly. I'm just not sure if I'm in the mood to keep watching right now, because it seems to be one of those animes made to be watched little by little and not simply binge-watched. Quick memo: I loved the timing when Hitomi's first vision happened. Lots of animes will throw a vision out of nowhere while the character is DOING NOTHING, and this was different! She was living her life normally and then it happened. That's how it works: things happen when we also do things. |
