THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It was cute I guess although animation feels a bit goofy at times. It shows our two main girls. I find their chemistry to be kinda interesting consider how close they become already. eh, the songs were okay I guess when the two performed a sort of duo together. Not sure how I feel about the performance they put at the end of the show. It seems catchy but I didn't find it groundbreaking. |

One big immature, excessive and noisy advertisement. Anime Mirai 2015, I expected better. And good luck having the most generic idol group name and personality. |

The only thing about this show was the art. The drama didn't feel like a drama after all and the choice for one of the characters' voice actors really bugged me all the time (The red-haired girl) |

I hope this gets a full-length series or something. Looking at the next K-On! sensation right here! |

naki12 said: Anyway, animation was good, colourful art, girls were cute reminds of Sakura Trick but story needed more time! So I wasn't the only one being reminded of Sakura Trick while watching this. Even the uniforms were identical. Well, both are done by Studio DEEN so I guess that's expected. The song was pretty average, but decent enough for an experimental project. If this gets a full series, hopefully they'll include better music. |

Congratulations to the people here who were reminded of "Sakura Trick" (2014)! The director Ken'ichi Ishikura also directed "Sakura Trick" and "Maria Holic". The producer Norimitsu Urasaki also produced "Sakura Trick". That could account for some of the Yuri vibes. See here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-07-10/anime-mirai-announces-projects-for-2015/.76507 To understand Anime Mirai 2015, here is a good English-language Wikipedia article explaining what it is about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Animator_Training_Project If I understand correctly, this year is the final year that the Japanese government will be putting all of that money into this program: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/06/23-1/anime-mirai-accepting-proposals-through-june-27th It is not clear specifically what is going to happen next year. In any case, for the past five years the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs has been putting in about US$2.27 million. Each year, they have funded four "projects". I guess each "project" is a 25-minute thing along the lines of an OVA. US$2.27 million may not sound like a lot of money to you and me. However, this is the budget for a normal 13-episode series. So basically these are extremely expensive student training projects. See here: http://www.crunchyroll.ca/anime-news/2011/10/30-1/how-much-does-one-episode-of-anime-cost-to-make Since I am not paying any taxes to the Japanese government, this sounds like a great idea. But it doesn't look like any surprise at all that this program is being dropped. It has been announced that it will now be run by the Association of Japanese Animations industry group. However, reading between the lines, that sounds like a face-saving and graceful way of shutting it down for good. But maybe they will keep going through the motions of putting on this annual Anime Mirai student-produced film festival. If anime studios want to train people, they should probably do it on their own nickel. If the Japanese government wants to subsidize the industry, then go ahead. In my country, our government pumps huge amounts of money into our animation industry. That is why a lot of animation gets done here. It sounds like a better idea just to throw money into the studios rather than having a special condition that it has to be used for a training program. Here are details in case anybody wants to get government support to make a cartoon series in my country (and they subsidize regular movies as well): http://www.pwc.com/ca/en/entertainment-media/publications/pwc-big-table-digital-animation-2014-08-en.pdf I hope that many young girls in Japan will end up watching this and be inspired to form their own "idol unit" and post their videos on "Noco Noco" and perhaps even YooToob as well. Nowadays, that is the way to get discovered. |

The art was ok, but the story was rushed like hell. And what's the point in making their voices much louder than music? I didn't like it. |

It was good for a one shot all the way up to when they needed to perform and then it just lost all it's flavor. The animation was appealing and again the little story wasn't bad until the last few minutes where it kind of unraveled. Just sorta lost it's charm come stage day. |

The last song wasn't that great. The high notes were not fun to listen to. It was cuter than I thought it would be. Eri <3 Has this franchise/idea been around for a while? I have found online 4 Ongaku Shoujo CDs going back like...to 2013 even? |

I found Haru pretty annoying, lol. That aside I found this to be pretty bad. The animation was kinda nice, though, and I guess it has served its purpose. I would've liked more fan service. Oh well. |

Yes, the four "Anime Mirai 2015" shorts are correctly called "movies". That is because they were screened at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2015. Since they each are only 25 minutes long, they are not "feature-length movies". Instead, they are called "shorts". But a "short" is one kind of "movie". |

I usually look forward to Anime Mirai too. >> Pretty animation, but wow Haru is ridiculously annoying. Archtype characters and painful fanservice. Designs were crap. Drama was crap. It was absolute crap. Even as an idol show.... ugh. Songs were completely lacking professionalism... which is fine for the amateur nature I guess, but lyrics were atrocious. Overall, horrible impression of Anime Mirai 2015. Hopefully Aki no Kanade and Kumi to Tulip are better. :( |

Well, the character designs were colorful aaaand that's about it! This was a big disappointment compared to the other Anime Mirai I watched. The relationship between the two girls felt rushed and could in no way being accurately portrayed in such a short time. I mean they went from "I don't want to associate with her" at the beginning to "you are my reason to live, don't go away" in only 20 minutes. It didn't help that both were not really likable, Haru especially could not be any more obnoxious. The drama at the end was also forced and not needed. Meh! |

Eh, it was ok. Really had to double check to see if this wasn't made by SHAFT, it's by Sakura Trick's director though, who used to work for SHAFT, so it's not very far off, liked the style it had. First half was pretty nice, standard stuff but still pretty enjoyable, the second half was pretty meh though, especially the stage drama, song was kinda meh and boring really. I really like this song of theirs though. |

Hmm, it wasn't so bad I guess. Visually it was nice enough. But I would really do without that overly flashy fanservice, it wasn't needed to tell story like this. In fact, it was kinda counterproductive. Story was a bit unispired too. And the end was... well, I expected Haru either go away or to stay after the concert but they fade to black with no explanation. I take it they didn't win either as their singing was bad but at least they accomplished their dream. 5/10 |

A rather beautiful show with nice characters. That's it. Music was generic, story was plain and lacking. Yuri didn't happen. Haru is transferring. So, basically, ohter than the visual aspect it failed in everything else. But it was cute, so, i guess ... whatever. |

Super-excitable girl and introverted, testy girl. Lots of bad "odd couple" humor. Huge-breasted mild-tempered secondary character. Girl band. Idol girl band. Gradient hair. Pigeon toes. "Studying overseas" separation drama. Big sappy speech that solves the problem. Yuri teasing. Generic in every way. The only good thing is that it's short. I can easily imagine this getting padded out to 12 or 13 episodes. Well, actually, while that probably would mostly be padding, the central story concepts could use some fleshing out as they're pretty shallow as it is. |

What a disappointment, the first 5 minutes was really good, really colourful and I thought it was gonna be something great. It's such a shame that imo the OVA jumped the shark. They failed to make the relationship between Haru and Eri interesting, their goal felt really meh, the drama was overblown, and the resolution was cringey. Good for whoever worked on animating this though, already getting used to animating female proportions as a newb. The animation and directing were good, but storyboard shits the bed. |
