lol, Akiko was correct. Koume's father chose a fiance for Koume, who is working for her house!

It's nice to see the practices and growth playing against elementary school kids.

This episode was almost too pathetic to watch. Losing against elementary schoolboys... wow, they must really suck. OK, they stand no chance against Akiko's fiance's team.

Also, lol @ Koume's fiance. I wonder how that other guy will feel?

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Haha~
Yey~
I had a feeling something'll happen with those two: Koume & Saburo (the guy who works for them)
Well, if I were to choose...I'd want a reliable guy like him rather than the annoying guy that goes to the same school as Akiko's fiance. :'p

guyklc said:

Haha! xD
I wonder what his reaction would be once he finds out! x'p
(I'm pretty sure Saburo would do anything to shake that guy away from his soon-to-be wife :'p From the beginning he wasn't very happy when he & Akiko's fiance came to Kuome's place the first time)
Anyways...
The both of them acting so shy coz of the engagement, it's just so adorable..I couldn't take it. xD

Haha, I love these girls. They're awesome. I was thinking of a possible sleepover and it actually happened. xD

I was grinning throughout the entire episode, very entertaining again this week.

The ending was just so cute with all the blushing. For some reason I really like Subaru, and I rarely like male characters in romance-related terms.

Definitely loved that ending XD

I did have some problems with the whole "we somehow regressed to where we can't beat elementary school kids even though we were doing about as well against HIGH SCHOOL students some months ago." But yeah, other than that, enjoyable episode XDDD

I don't know about that. They didn't get out of the first inning against the older boys.

Anyways, very enjoyable episode. Finally got to see Noe use her 'strategies' that she's been planning since the beginning. And I got to hear more Aya Hisakawa! :)

ahhhgggg this episode. what was up with this episode? it's like they're going out of their way to make this a yuri series...

okay, so the glasses chick took notes on things they can do to get better, and they were all like simple things that an experienced coach would teach them. but then she gets to the last one, and she's like "the relationship between the pitcher and catcher is the most important thing". and then when they play the next game, after just one week of practice, they went from like an 0-15 or whatever their major loss was, to a 10-12. they brought in the gap so much, but they were still so disappointed with losing, and then everyone blamed it on the pitcher and catcher, and it's like yeah the pitcher was worn out. she pitched a whole game. it's their fault for not having a finisher... and then she goes over to the chicks house and somehow it improoves there game or something..

i dunno. i want less yuri and more baseball...

i don't get why everyone (even in the show) was making such a big deal out of the kids age. like, these are kids who do this all the time, grew up playing this, and this is their hobby. it's not like they picked up a bunch of random kids who don't even know each other beyond acquaintanceship, and half of whom haven't even held a baseball before. which, is actually the case for the main team.

they weren't "doing well". they got some outs, probably half of which were luck. it's not like they had a close game, or even scored on the high school team. not to mention the high schoolers were going easy and laughing at them half the time.

I think you are mistaken something. If you think of this anime as a yuri series then you are wrong. If you think this a serious baseball anime then you are wrong again. Try to understand what you are watching.

It's not hard actually. Baseball bat grip is somewhat different from a tennis rocket, for example, and it doesn't really matter if you're right- or left-handed. There are hundreds (or even thousands) of switch-hitters in baseball, and almost none of them is actually ambidextrous. It's just a matter of convenience and personal preference. I can bat from both sides myself, though I prefer batting left-handed even if I'm right-handed. :)

Fantastic episode, by far the best so far. Great episodes throughout the episode, both in romance and sport, and characters interactions are as enjoyable as ever. The ending scene was sweet too :)

I don't see why it's a problem. If a pairing is cute, then it is. Its not necessarily a bad thing. I happen to like the couple too.

That aside, this is quite possibly my favorite anime of the season. I swear, it gets better with each episode.

I don't think that it's quite the reason, at least for me. It's just their reaction toward the situation they were put in that creates an atmosphere that is cute.

I don't 'mind' the couple either.. I just thought the scenes after the father's declaration were a cheap way to shove the actual issue aside.
But I guess I'm expecting too much of this anime. It's been alright in some aspects, but in others it's a real letdown.

Enjoyable episode even though losing to the elementary school kids seemed off since they had just gone against a high school team and did fairly well.

I keep reading this and I must have been watching an entirely different set of episodes. The first game didn't get out of the first inning before the game was called, and the second they probably were taken even less seriously given that previous performance (not that they were in the first place), and *still* lost. (That is, the second time the high schoolers probably weren't even trying.)

The only thing that seemed off was that they actually improved that quickly, to have nearly beaten the elementary kids, over the course of a week or two at most.

Those kids were playing everyday and the girls have started playing for like what? a month? It's pretty understandable.

Also, a 14 year old getting forced to marry a 20 year old and everyone is ok with it? ಠ_ಠ

That arranged marriage really came out of left field. It doesn't seem like Koume dislikes the idea of it, but probably felt awkward since Akiko was just telling her how they seemed like a great couple.

I like how the improvements each game were subtle but still noticeable. Long ways from taking on Asaka though.

MagEarwhig said:

I imagine the standards were different back then and it wasn't uncommon, especially since the father seems to genuinely care about her happiness instead of trying to marry her away as a bargaining chip for status and Saburou doesn't seem like a bad guy. But even with ages in consideration, I've seen far crazier in anime to even think about it at this point, unless Koume was or ends up being sincerely bothered by the idea of it.

Wow I didn't even consider Saburo to be paired with Koume. He's just, you know, there. Though now that I see how those two interact, it actually works. I wonder what the marriageable age is during the Taisho period O_o

Why was Tomoe crying about Koume and Akiko? Must be a really emotional girl.

Tomoe gets struck out (again) and got yelled at by Tama-chan lmao.

Don't compare 1925 Japan to 2012 Japan, much less 2012 America, France, England, Australia, etc. Within the context of the story, as others have pointed out, it is important to note that her father actually paired her with somebody she knows and gets along well with, instead of a stranger from a rich family.

Gotta rack up that experience regardless in how it comes. Playing against elementary kids wasn't a bad thing, at least they are beginning to understand the game and build chemistry.

Akiko's way of throwing the ball is pretty cute. "Eyy"

Seems like Koume is getting married to the helper of the restaurant. I wonder how will the other due who likes Koume react to the news of Koume getting married.
