I loved this! The animation, the atmosphere, the music, the interactions... everything just seemed so playful and surreal. Unlike its sister titles (Tortov Riddle, Angels Egg, LAIN, ...), Cat Soup is rather upbeat and doesn't withhold itself from having fun. Many of its parts had me laughing. The scene where the father of time reversed the clock was absolutely breathtaking. Shows like these tend to be heavy on the symbolism. Yes, the symbolism was there, but it felt disjointed and random. Each scene brought another idea to the table; however, these ideas did not form any coherent theme. If anything, the authors were simply noodling about. But man, what a result! About the ending, How I interpreted it: the brother cat fell in the tub at the beginning. This notion is again hinted at when the parents freak out (or was that for his sister?). The bulk of Cat Soup represents the brother's hallucinations as a result of drowning. The last scene returns to the point before he falls into the tub. After he "exits" the bathroom, his hallucinations have dissipated, his family disappeared, and his life, ended |

I liked a lot. 9/10 Like a living painting. Maybe, at the end...you just want to take things from the past to the present, but they will dissapeared, 'cause all was just an ilusion you made up from the very start. Time travel is really complicated somehow. ...And God ate the world. :D |

i definately need to re-watch this! anyway... whithout any dialogs, the creators managed to convey meaning through the visuals, viva la vida! and the metallic butterfly! so cute ^^ |

Some scenes weren't as crazy as I expected them to be, and others were beyond anything I've witnessed before. I love it when I need to constantly use my brain while watching something like this. It's definitely not for everyone, but I was highly impressed. I admit that I didn't quite understand a couple of parts though. I'll have to rewatch it a few times. |

I mean... you could read it as Japanese would! ;_; I was just so tired of thinking of some decent username, and nothing came to my mind... I wanted to puke back then, yes, I did! Because I couldn't think of anything again! And then I typed it. I typed it !And now I'm Puke-chan. Omg, don't look at me~!) P.S. Don't worry, I'm too lame to notice it was a lame joke. Really. >D P.S.2 I really liked that elephant. (And my post doesn't look like OT now, yay.) |

eheh...OOOooohkkk... *starts edging away* seriously though. You can still change your username you know. Unless you like 'Puke-chan'. Since EVA is your fav anime, you could choose a name that has something to do with it. Like 'shinjis-girl','evangelion_666' or 'world-explodes!!!' yea the elephant is one of my fav moments. |

That was surrealistic as hell!! Lots of ideas/issues flooded my mind while watching this. It's very hard to interpret it all together but in the end, the feeling is strangely beautiful. Also, got some laughs out there esp. the bumps in the pig's head. XD 9/10. |

Great stuff. I'll be honest and say that i didn't quite wrap my head around everything this had to offer, in fact i didn't even think about all these possibilities until I read this thread. Anyway, I was impressed and I'll give a 9. Definitely will have to re-watch this later down the line. |

There is a meaning behind this, and it is up to us the viewers to come up with it. This anime can mean different things to different people. Don't look at the pictures - look into them. I am having mixed feelings about this movie, for it was not what I expected to see at all. It was, by no means, bad. It was so drastically different. I like it. |

Told. On-topic, I'm glad I finally got around to seeing this. Very surreal and somewhat sadistic, with some underlying, unsettling messages. |

a 32 minute of great art. everyone has their own experiences and past, so everyone has their own interpretation of this. in the brothers journey to retrieve his other half of the sisters soul, we encounter many life issues. I couldn't tie everything but the ending was very clear, everything has to come to an end. |

throughout i saw general disregard and disrespect for life. i'm confused about the boy cat because i feel he was inconsistent in his actions. the pacing in some scenes could have been a little slower. i was quite bored as well. |

God is an asshole man. this is so strange but so awesome. So much better than that other one when the cats are rude and racists bastards. well. the hate to pigs continues here to. What nekojiru had against pigs anyways? 10/10. I didn't understand some meanings but I guess that's what they wanted. |

Didn't like it. The surreal visuals were good, might even have called them great if they wasn't completely ruined by the story and most important - main characters which I truly hated. Seriously I would have a hard time trying to recall an anime, a movie or a book which made me wish protagonist's death so badly. I mean - what on earth have they done to that poor pig? Like, what. the. actual. fuck. And yet the creators of this story played with me mercilessly a little longer - when the pig bit off the hand of the protagonist, they gave me hope - he may bleed to death - I thought naively... What a fool I was, what a fool... I know that this isn't your typical run-of-the-mill anime and I appreciate that. However the great visuals and original idea are not enough for me when aren't teamed with a good story and characters and the story wasn't gratifying for me (you already know how I feel about the characters...) |

This was like an Animal Crossing based creepypasta, except it's actually good. Honesty I think the main thing conveyed here was a message of time, hell I actually lost my sense of time while watching this. Of course anything I point out would just be my own interpretation and one could argue there is no point and this is probably just a drug induced fever dream animated. |
