lol at people who think this episode lame because Yuuji went around the town and was being stupid like usual.

The first half is good anyway. I was rofling at all the naive people who didn't realize "who" the Crimson Lord they are going to face xD

Second half is stupid, cause Yuuji had always been a lame character (between him and Saito, I prefet Baka Inu) so yeah, life story not FTW.

But the encounter is EPIC~! (and the subsequent fight is too much for "mongrels" to handle anyway, so yeah)

I like the flashbacks, considering I watched the 2nd season a year ago its good. Maybe not for people who watched the 2nd season a week ago.
but anyway this is a good climax to the fight scene that is gonna be portrayed in episode 4.
Pacing so far is great.

Well, overall:
People hate second season.

Probably the only reason why they hate the flashback (or maybe Yuuji is just that lame)

Good episode. I really care about these characters, so it sucks seeing them all distressed like this. J.C. Staff, why must you fuck with my emotions!?

Amazed people got bored, sure it was a recap episode but I enjoyed every second of it. I could just feel like it was building and getting itself set up for the next episode. Plus that music towards the end was quite enjoyable, would have been more entertaining if my roommate didn't have music playing... If all you fools want is action then you'll be pleased with the next episode?

Great, suspenseful episode. Not enough new content. Mostly a recap. Was hoping for a balanced recap and the introduction of the new plot. 3/5.

I cant take this suspense it's killing me. They were just poking us for the whole episode making fun of us, they knew what we wanted they knew we were on the edge of our seats for it waiting for Shana and Yuuji to meet, then they do it right at the end and are pretty much screw you wait for next week lol....
It did not help that they gave that annoying bitch Kazumi screen time, everytime she pops up i want to punch her in the throat and i wish Shana never got friendly with her. It does not matter that Shana already won Yuuji's love Kazumi still annoys the crap out of me.

No, it wasn't the greatest episode, and I'm no fan of doing shit like this....but...

I still enjoyed this episode, I think it was appropriate to have some time and reflect on everything that has happened.

After all it's been YEARS since I saw Season 1 and 2, and besides the way they did the episode was fine....remember guys, this is the FINAL season, there will be NO MORE, there's no reason why this anime shouldn't take it's time and properly explain everything this story has done.

I very much look foward to the showdown next week:

This, i thought it was a great way to build it up because if you really think about it, who besides the people who perhaps read the novels could have guessed that Yuji would turn out this way, and since its been so long since season 2 it was a great reminder for those who had forgotten. Also i gotta agree about the ending, the music was quite enjoyable as well, it fit the scene perfectly.

The only thing that was actually of interest to me was the fact that they now have cellphones and that Yuuji finally realized his true feelings for Shana.

Even though I watched the first two seasons fairly recently, I appreciated the recap in better quality animation--particularly that little handclasp between Margery and Satou (my favourite secondary romance of the series). We'll have 23 more episodes for fireworks and all the drama that makes this worth watching (and seriously--take a look at most of the dismal new anime this season (cough...Horizon.....cough) to see just what a quality piece of work Shana is).

Just a week to wait....

I noticed that too, for some reason after her expression when she heard on the phone that it was Yuji i thought her face would be different, but it appears to be the same exact scene from Shana S except this time it was from Yuji's perspective so i guess it was only natural they wouldn't change the expression, still makes me wonder why she looked so angry, i would have thought she would have been a bit happy or something,ah well

I gotta agree, the reason why i don't think its gonna be "epic" is because I'm going with the idea that its gonna be a one sided beat down, which seems likely in my opinion for the very reason that it is so early in the show, it will be interesting to see how they measure up tho

Oh, I really could use a recap episode, really... It's been a while since I watched the first two seasons. Aha, so I bet Yuuji ate his little twin brother before he was born and perhaps that's why his first encounter was a giant baby. Okay, it really has been to long since I watched it... Anyhow, am looking forward to see what Yuuji plans are.

So, I felt I had to sign in to my account that I hadn't been on in, well, forever, to put it my comments about how this season is developing.

Firstly, if all you can do is bash SnS, I have no idea why you're watching it for that matter. The pacing is just fine. Did you honestly expect full-on action from episode one? Let's get real, folks. This is the final season, and it's been released so far apart from the second that I feel the recap was completely necessary. Many of us don't rewatch anime that has been released long ago, and I totally forgot 75% of the recap anyway. The presentation of this episode was done nicely, moving along the story slowly, as it should.

Now, I'm not sure if anyone else was getting this feeling, but if you weren't just paying attention to the recap, it seems as though Yuuji was giving a bit of an explanation as to why he's choosing the villainous road. He goes back to remind you that just about all his friends, who should have remained completely oblivious to the situation he's in have all somehow gotten themselves involved. I'm believing that he feels responsible for this and just wants to end it all. And likely by joining the opposing team, he sees a way to make it happen. Just a guess, though.

Also, I'm getting this gut feeling that Kazumi isn't going to see the light at the end of the tunnel by the end of this. Even without recap, I do remember that the cross she's carrying around will drain her existence with its use, or something along those lines. Why go through the trouble of adding that twist if she isn't going to make a sacrifice of sorts (though, as a Kazumi fan, I'm really hoping I'm wrong)?

The real key to this season is how well they can pull off the separation between Shana and Yuuji, as most of the past two seasons focused on their bond. I do believe many people were watching for these moments between the two, and not for the action (obviously, I'm not speaking for everyone). With the two on opposing sides, the story can no longer do this, and it has to focus on characters that were, as I'd call them, total side characters.

Regardless of how it plays out, let's all just calm down and be happy we even have a third season. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If you do, sit back and enjoy the ride.

That makes no sense. How could one still think that Yuji is still just a creep level now when he is the boss of the enemy? With that said, I won't expect much out of this fight either knowing how GREAT this show is.

Hi, first time here. :3

I'd have to agree with Seiji-kun. In my personal opinion, I think that Yuji walking around town and remembering all of this stuff was sort of crucial to the story. It let's you know what's going on in Yuji's head. I think Yuji's plan to save this city lies with him becoming the leader of Bal Masque. On the other hand, I don't think it's actually Yuji. Like he's half Yuji and half Crimson. A sacrifice Yuji is making to protect the city. When he has the long hair, he's the Crimson. Likewise, when he has short hair, he's Yuji. I don't think Shana will think so when they first meet because he has just power. She might feel hurt that he sort of betrayed them, until she understands his reasoning. That's just guesswork, pay no mind to it.

I'm not sure if there are spoiler tags or not and I can't find any, so I apologize in advance.
Can someone explain to me how Yuji died? Erm, I mean died again. At the end of SnS Second, didn't he regain Reiji Maigo? I know that's a little off topic from episode 3. It's just something that I didn't quite catch.

From what i understood of it, due to the first episode of this season and recently watching season 2, after regaining the Reiji Maigo he was on his way to the location where Shana was and that little intersection where he had to choose between Shana and Yoshida and on the way there he had a conversation within his head, I've read that some people thought it was the Reiji Maigo but now I'm almost certain that it was the Crimson Lord in question, and in this little conversation he realized that didn't like the war between Flame Hazes and Denizens so he allowed the Crimson Lord to enter his body to create a way to stop it, Now this may be a bit off but I'm fairly sure that it is not much different than what Alastor is to Shana because the Yuji in this episode seemed like the Yuji of old so I'm confident that it is not possession but instead sharing a body, so when they fight they switch or something among those lines. My reasoning for why he allowed it to come into his body and it wasn't possession is all the rhetorical questions in the first episode of this season, like "is there nothing i can do" etc, and then it responded "what do you want to do" which he probably wanted change thus the merging and the events which are currently happening.
