This episode wasn't bad. First episode should have been like this, but no, they had to ruin the start. Setting are pretty interesting looking now.

Fighting scenes and abilities still looking like shit. What was that civil's reaction at the end about? Made me facepalm. I'm surprised how good the voice actor fits them personality now. It's a fail if they don't change it though. :>
I definitely have superpowers. I can feel it in my balls.

And where did you see that?
BTW, It seems, you don't remember the 1 Episode at all.
Yuuji himself offered his body to that Leader. The Contract.

Not only his voice , his look doesnt inspire fear or power or nothing (he's supposed to be really powerfull now) , he always have such a derp face.

That aside, this episode really does get the things moving full throttle forward.
Pop Quiz: F/SN Gilgamesh vs Current Yuuji, who wins xD

Knowing Gil, he would probably be able to kick Yuuji's a**, only to get himself killed by way of his extreme arrogance.

That’s true! I’d forgotten about that, so that means that now he’s a vessel for 2 things.. :o Right?

I do remember that part of the first episode but I just don’t understand why Yuji would offer himself to that leader? I thought something might have happened behind the scenes, something what made Yuji sacrifice himself. Just because he made the contract himself, doesn’t mean he wasn’t pushed by another event, it could have been that he was forced by that event, to make his descision: which makes his own opinion supressed.

That’s how I think of it though, the episode might/will prove me wrong.. It’s just a theory.

The confusion and suddenness of Yuuji's decision is due to the previous anime seasons leaving out a lot of events and foreshadowing. That voice has been having conversations with Yuuji in his dreams since events from the first anime season.

Cause the new "Dark" Yuuji can totally stomp Gil even without his arrogance.
You'll see what I mean in couples of episodes later xD

Anyway, did Satoshi Hino just got ignored for the entire episode......
Because it is quite hilarious NOT to hear his voice for the entire episode, in a series which is filled with Kugyu x Hino voice..... (another one is ZnT)

Its oddly hypnotic because it seems they are finaly following the light novels properly which makes it a thousand times better. Though it has caused it to be damn confusing suddenly throwing some people in since they ignored stuff from the novels for the first 2 seasons in exchange for shitty anime orginal episodes and endings.
I think this last season is meant to stay completely faithful to the novels so we should be in for a good ride.

JC staff should learn to follow the fucking source material properly all the way through, that would make all of their adaptations alot better.
Their best adaptations are probably Toradora and To aru majutsu no index but they slightly changed the things in the Toradora anime and left out/switched a few things in To aru majutsu no index anime. The novels of both of them beat the the crap out of JC staff adaptations though.

some of you are silly...

Its quite obvious that he is sharing his body, not possessed. Also it's obvious why he is doing that, he is trying to free Shana from her fate of fighting endlessly. How he does it I dunno but its obvious that he has some sort of plan that requires him to join the bad side.

I'm liking this plot twist, its very different from the first two seasons and I like that. More of the same would be hell on earth.

You mean in terms of manga or Light Novel?
Cause there are lots of JC's adaption that is quite good, granted it is based on manga.
Light Novel-wise, To Aru is a bit disappointing but nevertheless quite good.
Toradora!, on the other hand, is extremely perfect. Sure, they make a few filler and left a few information out but heck, JC's adaption of Toradora! ending was definitely better than the LN original ending~!

So I have feelings that they gonna totally make this season of SnS the most epic of all the seasons.

It's great that they are following the light novel more closely, but it seems like JC is struggling to fit in every detail of the light novel.

There are so many new characters that I can only hope that some of them are properly developed. I think at least half of what just happened in this episode went over my head.

Even then, this was a great episode, can't wait for next one. Sad though that one cool looking flame haze babe in the beginning died so quickly. =/

Hopefully J.C. learned from Shakugan no Shana II that drawn out slice-of-life drama is not the way to go for this series.
I want to see shit get real with this season. I want to see Yuuji being the antagonist exploited to its deepest and darkest extent. Let there be conflict. Let there be chaos.
I am excited for the series but if this series wants to prove itself (just as the original did), it's going to have to be one heck of a ride for the next 24 episodes. Shakugan no Shana II left a bitter taste in my mouth even with Sabrac's epicness. Shakugan no Shana FINAL better wash it all away.
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

I mean both manga and light novel they have probably more manga adaptations that are better but they mess those others as well by going off the source material with their own anime original characters and stories just like recently with Yumekui Merry (Dream Eater Merry) that just turnt into a mess. Another recent one was Hidan no Aria that was another bad adaptation.

Yes i liked To aru majutsu no index adaptation as well it is best to maraton for the most enjoyment but they still could of done better on it.

I did love the adaptation they did for Toradora as well but i still like the novel better and on the last novel they adapted they did miss quite a few bits and pieces. The very end i would still probably say i prefered the novel since Taiga came back sooner i thought the gap was a bit long in the anime but i like the extra wrap up they did on other characters in the end of the anime. So with Toradora anime and novel i think both are good in their own ways, the anime also seems a bit heavier on comedy and the novel heavier on the romance side not to say the anime did not do the romance well they did, so you are right the novel and anime do complement each other nicely.

Its just they can be so iffy with their adaptations sometimes which is normaly when they go off the source material but when they stick to it most the time they can do it right.
With the last season of Shana they should stick to the novel properly but i cant help feeling it might be rushed because i think they finished season 2 at novel 14 or something and there are 22 novels novels and 3 side novels i think. They have around 8 novels left to cover and these are ones at a big turning point with many new characters and big things happening, they also left out infomation and other things in the previous 2 seasons so i am a bit worried they will be rushed.

Now i remember why i liked this show so much. It was one of the first i watched and after i had been jaded i was conflicted if it was actually good or not. This is what happened with Index and i was disappointed with season 2.... However, i am incredibly happy that Shana is kicking ass this season.

As for next episode, i am happy that they are already going to confront each other only after three episodes. I expected them to be annoying and drag it out.

Firstly, we are talking bout JC Staff.
They might be toying with the series first in order to milk of the franchise, as you know it. But for some reason, JC usually mess up LN's adaption while manga adaption like Nodame, Bakuman, etc. is quite good, if not awesome.
Secondly, HnA is quite good! I don't care whether people say it is bad or what, it is good on my list. Thought, Yumekui Merry did sucks.
Third, Toradora! ending is quite YMMV to few people. I, personally dislike Taiga returning earlier than the anime, in which the drama was left hanging quite a bit while the anime wrapped up the series perfectly (together with additional costume, which is cute!)
Finally, trying to cover 8 novel in 24 episode shows aren't that hard, unless they put some useless fillers like usual. For every three episodes, they can actually cover 1 novel, which gives them enough time and if that doesn't works, they can make a finale movie.

All in all, just put a little faith on JC and hope for the best.

Sometimes i think they grab at series to quickly and start to animate things before there is enough material. I have not watched Nodame or Bakuman or read either but i have been meaning to watch Nodame for a while now.
If you think the anime for HnA is good you really should read the novel on baka-tsuki it is alot better. Yumekui Merry they really should of stuck to the manga.
With Toradora i think it is nice that the anime and the novel are slightly different gives you 2 types to watch/read.
Well you can cover 8 novels in a 24 episode season but i still think it might be rushed. In the first season of to aru majutsu no index they spent the first 6 episodes on the first novel so it all depends on how much detail and how close they want to follow the novel. They also made a mistake though of cutting out a big chunk of the 2nd novel with Aureolus Izzard to reduce it to 3 episodes that whole arc should of been darker and thrown Touma deeper into the new world.

Its hard to trust JC they have not been so good recently Kamisama memo was only really good in the start and end as well it got weak in the middle.

Angst, angst, angst and even more angst. I swore myself I would watch it 'til the end but it becomes more and more harder after each episode. Nothing important happened until the last 5 minutes. And it's pretty bad that I cared more about Satou shitting himself, than anything else.

"Shall I explain?"
"Yes."
*scene cut*
This is how you make 24 episodes out of 12. Because now I'm pretty confident the whole story could be wrapped up in 12-13 episodes.

Yet another great J.C. Staff like adaptation.

lol, you should definitely watch Nodame and Bakuman. Or any series they adapt from manga. It is VERY good.

And I been trying to read HnA but lack of time and currently finishing F/Z force me to read it later. (Not a prob once you get Bakareader apps xD)
And isn't YM is from LN?

No comment on Toradora!

As for To Aru, some people actually complain bout the whole Himegami Arc, since that arc didn't even included in the manga (which obviously some dumb fans didn't realize To Aru is from LN) and said it is a filler. Just be grateful at it being adapted (Really, you don't want to see someone who is Fan Dumb)

Anyway, JC did goes a bit up and down and the down usually consist LN's adaption.
Otherwise, they are a very good studio, granted they need to reduce fillers...

@KimChanx3: lol, thx for the image.
I just wonder, why doesn't he just use the dragons he summoned to fight Shana instead -.-" (Check Episode 1 back, there are dragons behind Yuuji and they came from his hair. SERIOUSLY~!)

*shrugs*Can't be helped. This happens when J.C. ignores something as simple as a mysterious voice talking to Yuuji for 2 seasons!!! Yes, that voice from episode 1 was meant to talk and converse with Yuuji for a bigger period of time. Also they turned SHana 2 into a "who will Yuuji pick !" rather than show several parts where Yuuji worries for Shana. From the very start of the novels Yuuji has been obsessed with Shana and her insistence on how she was nothing but a tool for killing Tomogara.
