Entire scene where Mina was cooking the egg and MC was just... sigh.

This art style has drawn me out of this show. Episode was better then the first but still.... I've had enough of this.

I am enjoying this show; It's wholesome. It does feel strange at times.. but I am also intrigued so that works out just fine. I want to see how long they can keep cohesion and how they continue to develop the characters.. particularly Mina's. I'd ignore the score... this one is worth your time imo.

EP 2

So yeah this ep. uh. a lot better than ep 1 i guess, some ups and downs, a bit of dorama and what not.
Next time, curious. Mina continues to be very interesting.
The whole battery thing is definitely going to be an issue if it happens again though
A pretty decent episode I guess(?) Ep 1 felt like it was a bit awkward, while this ep had less awkwardness

Far better than Episode 1, so things are looking up.

Last week it seemed like a guy just wanted to get with his toaster, but we get to see now that he genuinely cares for her and she's beginning to reciprocate in her own way.

I'm curious as to whether this will stay wholesome or we'll get to see other people react negatively to a man holding hands with his microwave at the grocery store.

This time they spent time on a picnic in the park, we are also shown more of Mina's features as a robot.

Even so, Takuma still treats his robot wife as special as a human. And also Takuma also bought Mina a wedding ring, indicating that they were married. It was just cute to see Mina's innocent and confused expression on her face.

@RafaBryan SHE LOOKS SO CUTE HERE

This anime somewhat delvs into human and robot relations from the simplest form. It gives us a glimpse of how an interaction could form under some circumstances without a world threatening crisis or super powered top secret weaponry. Just a guy and his 2nd hand appliance learning to grow and navigate through life as a normal couple.

I decided to turn this into a separate thread.
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

it's better than the first ep, mina's behaving more human like due to some unknown error in the codes i suppose? still feels cringe, but maybe i'll change my mind once their relationship develops further

Asking a robot to go on a picnic while it's raining seems a bit tonedeaf if not cruel. But thankfully, Mina is level 8 waterproof.

The fact that Mina's hair basically acts as solar panels is really cool. I wonder if something like this is actually possible in real life. Her having a compartment inside her belly to store or freeze/heat staff is also extremely handy. Damn. I kinda want a robot like that now. Not for romance but to do chores and be a useful appliance.

I know what kind of anime this is but man some of the things Takuma says or does feel cringe. Like him being excited about Mina's belly was just weird. I can tolerate this sort of stuff because I've seen far worse anime protagonists. I feel like these types of interactions like him getting constantly flustered might've worked better later on instead of literally the 2nd episode. Tho I guess this means there may be bigger moments like these in later episodes.

All that being said, him buying rings for themselves was actually kinda wholesome tho. It's too bad Mina can't wear it on her fingers tho.

Mina meeting Takuma's sister should be good. I wonder if she's going to be another anime sister talking some sense to her brother.
@0451 That wasn't his intent tho. It was sunny until it rained. Rain is pretty common and can happen randomly in Japan, or at least it did when I was in Tokyo.

I really love this show, it’s cute and all, but the only real issue is that Mina is with the MC out of an obligation due to her being a robot house appliance essentially. This episode started to rectify that issue by introducing the idea of Mina not just letting Takuma do things because he’s her owner, but because she wants him to. It’s gonna be interesting to see how Mina develops a sort of free will and grows into the person we see in the ED.

Thought the picnic date was really cute and Takuma getting turned on by Mina’s stomach oven had me dying. This dude has the weirdest fetishes. Glad they showed what happens to Mina when her battery runs low too, I was just wondering last week how long she can stay on.

That moment gave us the traditional romance series “carry a girl on your shoulder” trope and the whole “I want you to want me to touch you” bit which goes back to what I was saying about Mina changing from being so robotic and docile to more emotive and expressive

The wedding ring bit at the end was so cute too and Mina is slowly learning what it means to like and love stuff 😩. Can’t wait for the next episode.
@Marinate1016 You might compare their relationship to grooming an adult or possibly the robot equivalent of stockholm syndrome but frankly, given she had no known status before this and it doesn't appear robots have rights in their world, I can't really imagine a better situation given the circumstances considering how mindful he is of her wants.

Some comments on the tech. I don't think the hair could literally be solar panels like they suggest since the angle affects the effectiveness of the panels but I imagine the same sorts of materials could be used to make some kind of flexible anisotropic facsimile of one and somehow get charge out of that. Infinite walking is unlikely though. Even with normal solar panels of large size, its hard to continuously power a large humanoid robot IRL. I'd imagine if her normal timing is 30 minutes, she might get a fraction of that as an added time length before running out unless she repeatedly rests and conserves power. The comments on electrical noise from heating are definitely on point and so are the costs of power to perform those actions. It's very power intensive. That being said, maybe a more realistic alternative is her having a pouch for battery extending that could be used to swap back up power cells and as a result, functionally be able to walk for longer. If you carry a backup battery and the solar panels for it while she also charges and uses hers, you could probably get loads more time out of that walk. I also have some deep questions on the engineer's design choice to use black for hair color when that is likely to absorb much more of the light she'd need to derive power from.

Takuma's cringe is probably derived from lack of social experience or comfort as is a worsening problem in both Japanese and Western societies. Its probably also why he gravitated to the idea of a robot wife.

honestly during episode 1 i was distracted the whole time

but watching this episode i had two thoughts

1. This is a timeless anime that I love.
2. Recent anime have been a lot less unique but I like a lot of the animation styles I've seen this year. They are closer to that 2014 style of animation that I've been thirsting after for the last 5 years

This was much better an episode for MC-kun. He takes Mina-san out on a walk because he feels bad she's never been outside. Some girls giggle and ogle at the android when they're out- which is obviously embarrassing to be going out in public with your robot-girlfriend, though to the girl's credit they don't make fun of him at all... still he cares more about Mina than his own embarrassment and continues the outing anyway.
He clearly has feelings for her when he imagines the horror of what could have happened to her when the downpour started; and when they show her laying on the ground it is actually pretty moving moment.
Definitely a real problem once her batteries ran down and they had to spend the night in the park shelter.

Actually the ending, where he notices his manager's wedding ring and is envious was really surprising. I don't think I've ever seen an anime portray the concept of men being envious or desiring of relationships to the extent of being startled at the sight of a wedding band.... it's movingly sad....
HowEVER: he then goes and buys rings for Mina-san and himself. So he can have this aspect of a marriage. And well, it shows a strong emotion on his part- but he has skipped over the most important part of proposing marriage to a woman- marriage is an agreement between two people, but he has just made a presumption that she's agreeing to a marriage here which I'm not really sure about folks.............................

A picnic episode outside, if I were Takuma I would've been more conscious about going out for a picnic alone with a female model robot.

Mina is a great 'individual' to bring for a picnic though, a functional fridge and heater all in one inside her torso is seriously convenient, but what is incredible is how the manufacturer managed to fit that in the first place, and don't get me started as to how having a long hair can double as a solar array, thank God for Boston Dynamics. Mina is cuter with her hair down than her factory default hairstyle, Takuma should ask her to have varying hairstyles every few days.

The picnic on a sunny day turned sour when the rain started to fall, but during these overcast conditions, a wholesome interaction arose, although Mina interpreted Takuma staying behind with her and not doing as she asked as 'lying' by her definition. If she could learn what is to care for and love someone as a SO, then she might be able to recall upon this act of his and appreciate it all the more in the future. Here's hoping for that to be the case.

Having Mina stare at her wedding ring so intensely is the highlight of the ep IMO, it shows that though she doesn't necessarily understand her reasoning for her own action, some things have a huge impact on her.

Very wholesome, enjoyed it!

Especially the part when he asked her to hold his hand. Because people think she's just outside programmed to do outside chores. I doubt he's embarrassed about him being with her, more like he's embarrassed because people think of her as a maid robot.
