as a girl, itsuomi is a bit too touchy for my preference, at least, before they start dating. I'd be really bothered by someone touching me like he does before we date. after we date, well, it'd depend on the girl. but I think that might also have been his way of flirting. besides that, I don't think he's too pushy

Alright I haven't in any relationship and had been like that for 22 years. I am not planning to find one at the moment. My question is do you guys act like itsuomi with your girlfriend?? He seems pushy in my perspective. And for the girls, do you guys had a boyfriend like itsuomi? If so, do you guys like the way he treat you?. That's all thank you in advance.

im male, 20, single, havent rly been in any relationship but from my pov guys dont rly act like Itsu, ypu know how girls pften joke when a female character in a romance looks obviously written by a girl "her name was Aurora Borealis, she was not like other girls, she liked vintage clothes and collecting vinyls" well itsu looks obviously written by a female author, while his objectiveness is something some few guys possess, his whole personality is very out of touch with our reality. being pushy and jealous to a certain degree but in this show (a shoujo) its clearly aiming at the female fantasy.
Im still on Oushi's team tho, he so much more realistic, being "mean" while protective and careful of Yuki and never getting his feelings across, Itsu may be many girls dreamlike bf but Oushi is out there been so much better its crazy.
there is also Shin, he is inlove with Emma but all he can do is help her during break up and u can see the anguish in his face that she doesn't even consider him that way. itsuomi is the most plastic and unrealistic and plastic male in this show and him being the main its a but... meh

man, as a girl, I understand that itsuomi is probably unrealistic, but I kinda hate oushi. he's just really possessive, and she never liked him. he's not just mean, he says very hurtful things and doesn't respect her autonomy. he gets on my nerves every time he comes onscreen. that being said, I love shin. he seems so sweet

I'm a man, 29 and never had a girlfriend ... but I find it so pushy the way he does it, it's making me feel kind of uncomfortable

of all the possible ML there is, people choose Itsuomi as the red flag (pushy? Itsuomi? really??), and they compare him to Oushi of all characters (when the only thing he does is act like an immature prick being harsh or downright mean with words to the MC like the steretypical guy that bullies a girl supposedly because he likes said girl... there is nothing to like in that especially if he never stopped doing so after YEARS. He reached university age and still act this stupid? How do you even excuse that. She has never even considered him a friend so even categorizing him as chilhood friend is wrong, they were never close to begin with, his sister was), at least compare him to Kyouya!

Like I hope to see the same fervent dislike for Jinshi of kusuriya no hitorigoto because gosh was he legitimaly pushy and downright a perv during the the first part of the anime (and I say that as someone who likes the anime and ship now that Jinshi acts more normal around MaoMao)

for once we have no yandere, oresama, playboy, one that goes out of his way to improve even more for the MC, normal green flag, like an actual good example who doesn't have weird jealous outurst and is able to express himself in a calm way even when there is possibe misunderstangs, and people trash him... damn

and of course it's the guys doing that

maybe time to reflect and understand why he is being so popular with the girls (and for those saying he is unrealistic... I have met people like that before, so no, not that unrealistic)

he's not that pushy but y'all gotta go outside more if you think guys like itsuomi aren't normal nowadays, even a few of my bestfriends are like that lol there are a lot of girls into that but i'm personally a little more on the listener side.

Generally I do love the theme of the anime/manga, I really like the cast, with exception for Itsuomi.
His Intrusive behaviour was the reason I had to drop the series after EP3, I couldn't stand the guy.

He would be one of those guys I would give a really good beating when he tried to bring his disruptive and respectless behaviour to any women in my circle (but most of the women close to me would punch him in the face for it first).

And btw, I do have a wife and child and I have been a successful "Ladies man" in my 20's, so I do have a lot of experience, but have always been very respectful with other people.

@ryzxgum I mean if we are going anecdotal on this, yeah I have (had) a couple friends that were the itsuomi types, they both ended up sleeping around alot and causing a bunch of trouble that led to a bunch of falling outs and really messy fights and burnt bridges. Its not whether these guys exist or not and more whether the way Itsuomi acts is particularly acceptable cause some of the viewers clearly just find him creepy.

Itsuomi is just an idealized hot guy so the pushiness is meant to be charming cause his advances are more pure hearted whereas in real life these kind of moves are more akin to a sexual harasser, like whats hes doing is stuff actual couples are like cause they are couples, the problem arises as to why hes so creepy is the series started at that stuff immediately after the 2 met well before they dated and it just comes off as forceful especially when the one character that actively has called out the glaring red flags is unequivocally treated as the bad guy in universe and also generally an asshole himself.

That I can all largely ignore cause ive built up my tolerance through shoujos over the years frankly this happens with like every single guy in fruits basket towards Tohru whether they are love interests or not and thats a top 10 for me, forceful dudes are idealized in these kinds of stories in the same way forceful or rather overly affectionate girls are in alot of boy centric media, and both in real life would usually just come off as total freaks. The issue with Itsuomi is so much of it is frontloaded from the very beginning it just sort of feels like that ends up defining his character and worse making Yuki's relationship with him feel rushed like we skipped over the part where they share any chemistry for the heart-poundingly moments where he invades her physical space and she swoons over how its ok for him to do it just cause.

I just think its a shame cause everything else around the series is pretty good and even Itsuomi has moments of a fun personality its just whenever the romance feels more focused on the fantasy of it that it feels hard to see them as having any real sparks we see but rather needs to be beaten into our heads senselessly by the characters saying actually this is love.

@JizzyHitler nah the second question is basically whether it's acceptable, first question is clearly whether you do it or not regardless of how people perceive this.

it is very obviously a character trait for him, series isn't shying away from this. even the latest episode how he drags oushi around uni against his will. itsuomi doesn't fabricate a different image for yuki or anyone, everyone gets the same treatment from him, the real him. i see that better than acting all soft in the beginning and showing his true colors much later, manipulater energy much.

just need to accept some not all romances are the same slow burns and some are ones built early on trust like this. i've seen a bunch relationships like this with my friends so its way more realistic than those waiting 3 seasons with the same old embarrassed tropes until they finally get together right at the end of the show types which we've already watched countless times so i appreciate this refreshing pace.
