Great episode! Izumi certainly isn't the best at football xD.
Kamiya bears a big resemblance to Shiki Ryougi lol.
All I think about when I see her is the mystic eyes of death perception!
Inuzuka saving Izumi from that ball was nice to see xD.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Literally nothing happened this episode and still absolutely nothing makes me care about those two.
Even Shokomori acting cute became stale.
It literally gives me Kirito X Asuna vibes at this point.

Well, three episode rule is a thing, so one more chance.

The adaptation is an even more mediocre version of the manga. Interactions still continue to feel incredibly awkward, and they are clearly rushing things around to fit it into 1 anime season, For example, Kamiya wasnt in the manga until Vol 5, but is introduced already as of ep 2
Of course the interactions feel awkward, they're trying to stich together simple one-off scenes into a more cohesive overall plot. The early chapters are almost exclusively cute reverse shoujo moments between the two leads, without much added depth. Still, I would probably dislike Izumi too if I didn't get the proper context, because in the anime he just comes off as a generic loser to make Shikimori look cool.

Hot take: I'm enjoying this show and Love After World Domination way more than what Kaguya has shown so far. It's refreshing to have once in a while male leads that don't overthink and overplan how to express their feeling to the girl they love.

Hachimitsu is pretty fun too as the deadpan sarcastic mediator for the 2 ships. I'm not in a true hurry to see some development on behalf of Inu & Neko, but we'll get there eventually.

Shikimori's flirting on the nurse office was pretty sweet, and knowing she can save face on Izumi but also feel quite flustered behind his back gives her a lot of an ample spectrum of her personality.

For the only 2 episodes that we have so far I think it's pretty good, cute and all. But has anyone read the manga ? Don't want to ask for spoilers or what but i'm kinda afraid of this cuteness begining to feel forced over the episodes has it seems that each episode has it's own small story and so not really going deeper into the characters personnality (except "Awww so cute").
Also kind of frustrated to know they're a couple but acting as two crushes.

But beyond that, the episode just put a smile on my face so, for me, it's a success !
In the manga the first 15 chapters or so (4-8 pages each) are pretty much just short scenes with cute moments that highlight their relationship dynamic, with Shikimori being the more cool/dominant one of the two. This gives you a much clearer picture of how you're supposed to relate to Izumi, the anime skips a lot of this. What they're doing is stitching together all of the school related shorts to make a more cohesive plot, and to line up with the manga's change in direction, and that is probably why it feels somewhat forced. Since the anime is practically speed-running the story, it will switch over to a more natural feeling SOL within the next episode or two.

I guess I was way too naïve to think that the anime would find a way to adapt most of the early chapters, which are kind of just disconnected cute scenes that highlight Shikimori's cool side, and the couples reverse shoujo dynamic, with some wiggle room in-between. So far the anime has skipped 12 out of these 17 chapters (but they are short) and a semi-important mini-arc with Izumi's parents, that I hope will be worked into the story. The anime feels pretty rough around the edges at this point, because most of the material they have used so far is just these short scenes stitched together and expanded upon, into the appearance of a cohesive narrative. It also makes Izumi look downright awful, between taking away scenes that give him context, and then both dialing up his bad luck, AND having more scenes of bad luck/rescue viewed closer together, this is just is not working.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Good lord, the bad luck shenanigan was never funny but now it has straight-up become annoying. It doesn't help that the execution of these scenes feel so awkward and lame, something I believe is the fault of the adaptation.

The only reason I still don't dislike is because Shikimori is the perfect girlfriend. In fact, I wouldn't even mind her becoming my boyfriend, with how charming she is.

Lets make a summary of events.

Shikimori shows her bolder side by teasing Izumi in the nurse ward.
Also Shikimori shows that being so bold is quite shameful.
Shikimori wants to support her boyfriend even when she's not physically near him.
Izumi has a revelation that is ok being the support guy in a relationship regardless of social customs of Japan.
There's a whole well animated volleyball matchup that not only looks great, but also serves as a setup for a new character and posibly subplot.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU WATCH.

Great episode, the ball sports tournament was interesting, it kinda hurt to watch Izumi get nailed while playing soccer but we got a great Shikimori moment out of it so yeah, thanks for being bad at soccer Izumi lol, and the volleyball match was great, Izumi sent his “good vibes” Shikimori’s way which gave us a great serious expression and a heated game of volleyball where the main cast’s class won thanks to her.

Following that Shikimori gets a bit of the Komi treatment where everyone in the school loves her, same with Nekozaki, which leads Inuzuka to fill in Shikimori’s shoes in protecting Izumi, the poor lad’s bad luck is impacting his friends too lol. This made Shikimori jealous and made for an excellent final scene on the stairs, loved the flustered Shikimori expressions there, she’s a babe of many faces but they’re all cute lol.

I was happy to see this again this week, of course it’ll be understandable if it ends up getting delayed, but for now I’m gonna bask in this show’s goodness!

Woah there slow down, why would they introduce Kamiya this early when there are so many chapters away until we actually get to see her? Also, she doesn't have that much screentime compared to others but with all the interchanging towards events being totally messed up in this adaptation, it's not big of a surprise this is going to be a dead-end for this adaptation. Welp, I guess the physical education was fun for others, but I'm not enjoying how it's being handled in comparison to the manga because the adaptation likes to go back and forth with random events happening, too bad Shikimori was a short length series, to begin with. Hachmitsu stays to be a wing woman and the volleyball segment was just Shikimori winning all over.

A nice sports focused episode, Izumi getting his usual strokes of bad luck before Shikimori comes in to help him out. Kamiya is introduced and Izumi's shouts of inspiration helps Shikimori absolutely clutch the game.
From that Shikimori's popularity soars through the roof and her time is taken shaking hands with new fans, leaving Inuzuka to be Izumi's new shield. Obviously Inuzuka is no Shikimori, but A for effort for how long he survived, ganbatte Inuzuka.

Shikimori's got a look to her when shes serious, enough for anyone to fall for her. However when someone touches her Izumi, she goes one step higher and you can almost hear heavy metal music in the back ground as her gaze burns a hole through the poor person on the other side.

I havent read the manga, but people that did is saying that this made an awful initial adaptation and Izumi looks way worse than it should, and they are damn right, so far the whole "really bad luck" situation is just unbearable.

I liked the first episode, but this one was the most boring thing I have watched so far this season. The only remarcable thing so far are Shikimori's facial expressions, I like her, but that alone can't carry this if it hopes to be something.

And, as is common in lots of anime, the interaction between our two main characters is.. weird, way more robotic than it should be.

I understand that Izumi is really close to bad luck but being clumsy at the same time? It's already a big no. Idk why they made his character like that, it super negative. They are making Shikimori like a meatshield for him which is kinda infuriating. It's different from other rom-com when it comes to that but it is still not okay. So, basically exact same skits as in ep 1 with different animation.
If you really think ther Generic Anime Line #17363518 is somehow "character development", then you do yours.
We see it in literally every show as an exposition dump and usually means nothing.

My theory is that they're trashing Izumi on purpose. This puts all the focus onto Shikimori, instead of on their relationship. It's in their best interest to sell her as a waifu, and to downplay any legitimacy to their "reverse shoujo" dynamic. In the manga Izumi is basically Shikimori's gf, and she's obv the dominant one, but it's actually done in a really cute way that's endearing (if you can get over the whole gender subversion thing) which is nothing like the anime, where they go out of their way to make him look like a pathetic trope.

Or it could just be a bad adaptation.

Ho okay. So we can expect things to be more coherent in a few episodes ? Basically I just hope that it won't be a compilation of the same "cool girl / Cute girl" running gag without going deeper into a more structured couple relationship, and imo it has to be done through a more "built" story, like with coherent arcs, underlining their respective feelings and making them go through events that are less "artificial" than the ones we can expect seeing these first two episodes. But I believe that this is the way it is because, as you say, they're kinda speedrunning the manga, making it feel forced.
Whatever, won't be long before people get bored if they keep going like these for the next weeks episodes.

It could have a great potential since their setup is really cute imo, unlike the usual rom-com dynamic. Haven't read the manga but seeing what it is in this adaptation seems like a meh. They might be successful in delivering Shikimori's worth but it backfires the whole anime, making you disappointed instead. I feel sad for Micchon, carrying this whole show.

Better than the first episode at least. Probably because we got some Haikyuu

Yeah watching him play soccer was almost painful to watch. To watch ten more episodes of this? I'm not sure about that. But then he is sent to the infirmary with all his injuries... and while Shikimori is with him, she discovers a substantial scar on the side of his head, as he notes that he has several others on his body. Could it be, he suffered from a terrible accident that left his motor functions severely impaired? If so, then this show has already improved significantly as we now have somewhat of a reason as to why he is clumsy beyond belief.

But for me, Izumi tripping over a rock isn't the real problem. The issue for me is the romantic chemistry between our already-dating couple- there just doesn't seem to be any. There certainly is a relationship there for sure, but it comes off as a big sister simply just being protective of her little brother. Any boyfriend-girlfriend chemistry seems to be near-non-existent.

If I were to choose a highlight of the show so far, it has to be Shikimori's facial expressions- particularly from angry-Shikimori of course

Same sucks Izumi moment when he played football. But oh well, what can he do? Until Shikimori did some little aggresive move to cease Izumi mind from the unfortune that always sufferred the poor boy.

So, that's Kamiya debut, heh? She's also god damn cool. Too bad this is Shikimori show, so ofc all the attention and victory be sure coming to the pink girl.

Lot of fangirl swarming Shikimori, after the volleyball game, and also Nekozaki. Izumi kinda be a dust compare to the greatness that is Shikimori. Too bad for Inuzuka that needed to handle all those unfortune alone when Shikimori away. But oh well, its all back to the moment of truth for those two again near the end.

As far as i enjoy the ed playing, i am hoping more to the dynamic between, and somehow i am hoping Kamiya to be more active. Lets see if the next episode delay or not...

You know what I hate the most about the adaptation? How they colour their eyes. It look so plastic and mismatched with their hair colour, especially Shikimori and Izumi. I'm convinced that Shikimori being a blonde would be better to suit her blue eyes, pink is just so bad. As for Izumi his eyes could be either dark hazel or any darker shade of colour, not this neon light eyes.

Their eyes just look awful.

Hahahha the reactions are pretty much what I expected . Reading the manga , izumi won't seem this much of a .... I don't know what to call him so I will just call him herbivore .... Because we don't know what he sounds like . But in this anime he has the sort of yelping voice that some just can't help but get annoyed at . Can't blame them at all .

And kamiya is already here . As I suspect , her "arc" is probably getting adapted this season so that this show would have some drama going for it and avoid being repetitive .

Also am I the only who thinks that micchon would have been better without actually having her mouth moving ? I mean one of the best things about her was the fact that she basically reacts the same to anything with the same smiley face ( which also accumulated it up for a fun arc for her later on ) .
Maybe it would be weird having her speak without actually moving her mouth ....
