Another one of those episodes that confuses me how it was made. They clearly understood that an obnoxious infodump is excessive and stupid. They did the whole fast-forward bit. But then they just went ahead and surrounded it on all sides with more obnoxious infodumps. And then there was the bit where it kept going "Hey, don't you wonder how this setting works? WELL, WE'RE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU!" Over and over again. Which was, again, immediately followed by a power point presentation of a different set of random factoids, in service of nothing but filling out the appendix. Eventually, we get to a literal boardroom meeting of the antagonists, who go "Hey, we're the antagonists," have all their nameplates tossed up in a montage, and then the episode ends.

Great use of twenty minutes, guys. No plot. No real action. No story. No character development. Just a nonstop barrage of factoids about the setting sloughed out like refuse into the street, half of which were "Gee, that sure is weird and unexplained." You clearly understood that pulling this crap was bad, but you went ahead and did it anyway, at exhausting length.

Nothing much to say about this episode except for Hyato getting beat up by Rin again. While Ysely and Paula couldn't survive one session of Rin's training. It's no secret that the Zola army is being controlled by demons thanks to Dr. Obami who is still alive. However the new slate of Idaten refuse to get involved in human conflicts because they created during peaceful times.

Aren't we only on episode 2 of a new series? Am I missing something? Was there a season prior to this explaining the world? A movie? This a spin-off or something?

They changed crosses on the nun and old woman's necks to triskelions but they forgot to fix this one in background.

If the idaten really have a similar mindset to humans then why isn't Rin terrorizing the humans to make them pray for salvation? Moral concerns apparently don't seem to be an issue and that would be the most effective way to increase their numbers. Ironically the demons waging war is the exact opposite of what they should be doing if the gods are actually their only concern.

This is really cool. Still trying to wrap my head around the art style and tone of the anime though to be honest.

of course they have to remind us this episode that the nun scene happened, what a mood destroyer, without those scenes this shit would be way higher in score for me.
yes exactly, it make me feel uncomfortable watching the nun scene like why they need it to remind more of whatsoever happened

Essly's explanation about non-interference makes a lot of sense. If they start preventing conflicts between humans, where they stop? Sometimes people just need to duke it out, both sides may have good reasons for it. Keeping 220 millions of humans peaceful would require rivers of blood and would make Idaten the main enemy of humanity on the same scale as demons were.

Superheroes movies, even with syrupy "with great power comes great responsibility" are generally the same, they usually fight supervillains who can actually fight them, not just massacre humans left and right according to their moral judgement.

Now that demons are back and instigating the conflict idaten will act.

Essly is a damn NEET. What the hell is that on his bed? LOL

It wasn't him. It was a metaphor as narrator clearly indicates:

To Rin, who was driven by her sense of duty to fight demons, an Idaten who shirked his training in order to learn in the human world was essentially the same as a shut-in who did nothing but play porn games all day.

Rin and Essly never lived like that so there was no chance for scene like that to occur.

It happened right after Essly's explanation why they don't interfere into human wars, the nun doubted that god exists. If you don't see how these two things related and why it was mentioned you should just try to think harder. It is quite obvious really.

my bad i just commented what i think in that moment and didn't realize that i quoted a message that was about episiode 2, yeah it really is connected to the nun and the gods that dont interfere to the human world.

I wanna see when the main characters will get likeable, as in step in to deal with the human soldiers. Because so far only possible recurring characters I can care about are... just the nun? And I assume that because of the OP.

Sooner or later they will deal with the demons but that doesnt change anything about how they have zero sympathy for humans...who created them.

yeah so i picked this up despite being super turned off from what i heard of the 1st episode since i keep seeing people say how good and fun this is ,turns out this show sure ant for me i don't know if it's trying to be some dark comedy or what but it's a huge turn off it sorta reminds me on why i hate parts of Akudama Drive where the overtop violence is there for jokes and gets brushed off right after granted here it's far more cartoony with it's cuts ,not to mention it's odd usage of dark themes

ill give it one more go best thing its got going is it's got a funky op and Horie Yui is one of the main characters everything else is ok

That's one hell of a training regimen. The info on the idaten were interesting. We even got the title drop.

The demons know only destruction and with the doctor's help they got human forms and is controlling the empire to rage war. So in the end they are just destroying things.

Also I wonder what that thing attached to Rin was.

Damn I could barely keep up with Ysley's speedrun any% explanation on Idaten's body.

With the nun rape last ep, the soldiers listing little girls and shotas is quite the dark humor which I personally didn't find very funny. Listing the beefy older gent was hilarious though
