Man... this was my most hyped anime of the season. I absolutely adore the prequel manga and have been looking forward to this for a long time (because the manga isn't translated). The animation is honestly unacceptable. It's the worst animation I have seen in a very long time. This is tragically bad. I would have been fine if the animation was average, or even bad, but this was REALLY bad. If this is what we got in episode 1, I shudder to think of what the rest of the show will look like.

IMO most of the males in this was so annoying, except their coach he was mellow to say the least =P No problems with him

The animation was ok, not the best but maybe it will grow on me

I do love the cute Yuri vibes. Aya and Midori was flirting like crazy. Awwwww the little soccer lesbians are in love,,,YEEEEEES their love quarrel was so fucking cute

Hahaha they really like each other. They will get out of the closet sooner or later and embrace their lesbianism

Not the greatest of signs but it's my favorite sport so hopefully it'll improve from here on

A great beginning, glad to see a work which focuses on women soccer.

ED is perfect,if every game scene can have the quality of this level, there's no doubt that it'll be a masterpiece for a soccer fan.

Compared to other sports anime, this chapter felt lacking character personality and a lot of development. But it isn´t a bad start either. Let´s see how this develops.

Also sponsored by Adidas, Puma and Nike but had to put "Obibos" as sponsor at the beginning... no, well...

This episode was... weird. Not necessarily terrible content wise since I actually love the manga, but the presentation really did feel flat. I liked how the anime tried to showcase some pace with having the movement feel a bit more lively and try to animate some actual skills for shots and passes to show how talented the players potentially are, but it's also clear that LIDENFILMS aren't quite as I wished to be, to execute such detail really well. Sure, Hanebado was done extremely well but a sport with multiple teammates on the pitch with so much actual skill and flair to add to the objective of football, is just too difficult for them. Detail wise, this is much better content wise than Captain Tsubasa and most other football manga, but it was just a bit too difficult clearly to translate to a TV anime.

Absolutely loved it. Must've been because it is the author of Shigatsu's, and the director is using the same music composer, Masaru Yokoyama.

Oh, and because Kurosawa-san is main character again, what a blessing. The whole squad of girls is kinda interesting to a point, and the episode just flew by.

Since I am a huge fan of football, my opinion on women's soccer is biased. Let's see how these high school football promises hold up to their challenge.

I like some of the characters. It's a red flag when they use name tags for introductions, so I'm not expecting the pacing to be good. Animation-wise it was subpar, the background art sometimes looked good but the character models/cgi were poor. The story should be pretty straight-forward. I doubt it will get much worse but it has potential... if the animation improves. I can't see this doing very well in such a stacked season.

This anime make a triangle, even a loving quartet between Onda, his friends and the rival, but ignores that and the only long interaction they have with a guy is with the coach.

I guess it will be the same as hibike euphonium where the protagonist has more time on screen with another character, but in the end her crush is a guy who almost never appeared in the story

I liked it although the art is pretty rough. I'm fine with the character designs but some of the still shots were just terrible. They really need to erase the fences from their digital art template because they look super bad - especially when a character is "behind" one.

Ok ok, I am really liking this, I kinda agree that the art is kind of inconsistent and looks weird sometimes, but that's definitely Naoshi Arakawa's artsyle, just not as polished as the YLIA anime. Animation is honestly fine, not the greatest but not really bad either.

The characters seems pretty great so far, I like that there are eccentric characters in here, makes these kinds of shows more entertaining you know. Looking forward to the next episode.

That ED looked amazing though, definitely liked it better than the OP.

Nothing really appealing. Animation is decent. Character designs looks dull. Only plus in my opinion were some good OSTs used in the first episode. And wtf is that "eye bag" from the Warabi coach. The goofy faces look horrible lol. Too bad, I guess I was expecting more from this premiere.

The animation is so weird...dunno why it is that way though

As for the first episode, nothing really special about the story and the studio doesn't make any effort to fully animate the show so I am just gonna stick around for a few more episode before I might just gonna drop the show.

@Short_Circut Don't worry, the only goal of this work was "women's football is cool". So this is literally an all-female spokon shonen with zero fanservice and zero politics.

If that's the case then that's good. That should be the case with series' about things like women's sports. Show how good it is, not spend most of the time telling about it.

Well, this case is quite similar to Hanebado, whose author said "hey, I want to tell a good story with strong female characters, not sell you a fanservice with female characters." Both authors consider it unacceptable to use female characters as a way to sell work.

You talk as if most people do not spend more time with same sex friends than with partners (at least until the start of a serious relationship and wedding), and the fact that two girls like to spend time together must necessarily talk about something between them. Not to mention, there are shows that don't really focus on romance and you might find that odd, but sometimes character interactions are just character interactions, not a ship war.

With this logic, any incels is more gay than any gay hood. And let's not even talk about applying that to the all-male shonen show (Hello, MHA!). And yes, the original Shuichi had a lot more time on LN, thank Okada who felt that the topic of female friendship required a reduction in the role of male characters.

Unfortunately, this looks like it will a poor adaptation of the source material.

The character designs are strong and while the premise isn’t anything too different, it still feels like it has its own spin to the sports anime formula. The OST is good when it actually plays. There is a lot of uncomfortable dead air that would be improved if there was some music in the background.

The animation is average at best, but the most disappointing aspect is the art. It feels very under-detailed and borderline bad in some instances. I’m worried that may be a deal-breaker.

I quite enjoyed the first episode; as a footy fanatic I've been waiting on a good anime about it since Giant Killing and while there's a clear difference between that and this, I think I might grow to enjoy "Cramer".

A bit more time to develop the character chemistry might make things interesting but for a first episode it was solid. I especially liked the references to well known quotes from the goal-hanging CF towards the end which at least to me show the writers know at least a little bit of their stuff:

"Why Always me?" - Mario Balotelli

"He must have been born offside!" - Sir Alex Ferguson's sharp witicism about Pippo Inzaghi

All things considered I'm quite looking forwards to the second episode and since the season seems pretty sparce it's a pleasant surprise.

I genuinely like the animation - sure it isn't perfect but the ones used in the football scenes were dynamic and felt like a proper football game with stepovers leading to a decoy run (do you ever see this in football anime) and you can see how's Onda eyes looked away from the ball as she say Aya in the space to pass it to her for the easy goal.

No insane dribbling ability or super long shots but good team play shows me that the series knows its football chops. Bring on episode 2!

Nice story, nice characters, absolutely horrendous animation. Shame as it could have been something good and a nice change for female sports in anime.
Definitely needs to be remade by a studio willingly to put at least a few extra yen into the animation budget for this specifically. Definitely got the Z team and interns working on it

Meh.

The premise is generic but does have potential, and I guess the characters are fine, but the animation? It's..... questionable. A lot of the times, the faces are poorly drawn and the eyes feel very emotionless. What's up with the running by the way? Can't the characters run naturally?

Lidenfilms isn't really a bad studio. They were the ones behind animating Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo, and it was mostly beautifully animated. Maybe Sayonara isn't on their priority list.... I kinda like the soundtrack though.

Also, what is this? Why did the bars disappear?

This is a weird one, I usually give sports anime at least a chance, but especially football always disappoints. Surprisingly one of the biggest sore points on football anime was at least kind of fixed here, the plays made kind of sense even with it being a bit stiff.
The problem is that every person on the pitch moves and that is very expensive to create which is why these shows either rely on CGI for the players in wide shots or stills and the flow of the game or play gets completely lost, here they at least gave it a decent shot to make the play comprehensible. Yeah the animation was stiff for the most part, but at least the fakes and movement paths made sense and gave you at least for the players in the picture an idea what they were doing (even though we have no idea what the other players are doing and some of them come out of nowhere to do something, like scoring).

The story seems to be extremely standard, but at least the problem with women playing a sport that is extremely popular while played by men is something to work with.

It just seems so weird and undeserved to see the protagonist in the end kissing / marrying a character that we really do not know in any way, I do not understand why getting married is like the culmination of a story that has nothing to do with him romance according to the Japanese. The best example of this is seeing the end of Naruto marrying Hinata. it's like the writers didn't know what their story was about and they just want it to look pretty? cute?.

I loved it, great start. Such a straightforward story but full of potential and heart. The execution of the first episode was nice too, as long as they keep this up, I think it'll be the dark horse of the season.

It's quite a shame to see everyone complaining about the art style and the animation, it was fine to me. It's not Haikyuu levels of animation but it's still done decently enough to be very enjoyable.

It's been such a long time since we had a new football show (Captain Tsubasa remake doesn't count), I think the last one was Days?
Anyhow, I'm very excited for this. I hope they keep it up.

Yeah, the style isn't bad. It's even charming imo.

The characters seems fun and interesting and they're girls which i really prefer at this point, getting tired of those male sports animes. The visuals ain't the best i hope it won't affect my experience. Overall i think this can be quite good, just need little bit of consistency.
