Another good Deca-Dence episode?
Thank god that Pipe is safe I would have been so angry he died.
The action and animation were really smooth and well done. Natsume is a quick learner being able to use the technique she learned from Kabu and even defeat Gadoll that some Gears couldn't
I understand where Fei is coming from- she can't afford to be friends with Natsume if she putting her life at risk on purpose. To Fei, it doesn't make sense.
Kabu has really bonded with Natsume, nearly tell her about the cyborg world
We finally learn why Natsume is fighting- she is fighting is become a better person, she is fighting so people don't see her a burden, someone who is weak
Can't wait for next week episode!

last episode was kinda off for me but this one is a great episode. So they are really playing a game with storyline in the real world. But since they don't know about the existence of Natsume, things might change contradicting to what they are expecting.
I love K-On, and so should you.

Natsume clearly learned a lot for the time she trained, can't believe she already will fight the "final boss" battle. Can't believe they invited her so quickly.

Following the logic for this "type" of anime, she will probably defeat it and learn some power or the truth...

How is it the case that they are doing the same raids over and over again? And they aren't even supposed to beat the final boss, lmao

Go Natsume, now is your time to shine!

Having your dreams crushed by other people is terrifying but yet it could be a drive to change people's minds. Natsume joins the battle to fight the Galdoll in hopes to find human peace even tho it's impossible. Wonder what happens the next episode cause I'm kinda curious cause its looking good so far.

TBH I doubt it's her doing the "outstanding work". Like Minato said the fight is designed to be unbeatable by S-class gears so they're most likely either going to lose pretty badly or Kaburagi gets the kill by going full "limiter removal" on them.

Personally I think the later is going to happen mainly because this series is only 12 episodes long and we're almost at the halfway point so the show needs to find a way to advance / escalate the conflict between Kaburagi and Hugin.

Damn I really love how fluid the animation of the fight scenes, especially the movements of the characters. Hats off to Studio Nut.

Great episode, overall. Direction was superb particularly the scene when Kaburagi faces Natsume and forces her to give up the mission.

I like the concept this show is going for and I hope they can execute even better in the next episodes.

Its such a shame that this comes out after Re:Zero weekly. I hope people will not sleep in this show cause it looks promising tbh.

So a big fight's coming which is supposed to be the last fight and it's gonna start in episode 5. I hope this doesn't last the entire 8 episodes left lol.

Welp tbh I still can't take things seriously even thou this is a really serious situation. Whenever I think the people from real world are all cartoon like any hint of seriousness leaves my mind. This anime kinda fails to portray the importance of the lives of npcs.
Why do people such as yourself keep calling the people "NPCs"?

This sort of terminology is never used in the show whatsoever, you're making it up out of thin air. The humans in the Decadence are not fabricated or AI or NPCs. They are live humans being kept in a zoo-like situation, like cattle.

The cute robots are no more "the real word" than the human living situation is. It's not an actual game. The robots are *treating* it as a game, but for the humans this is actual life or death, how can the stakes by any.higher, or how can they portray any more seriousness to it than that?

I swear, if there's anything this show has done a good job of revealing, it's that the people who seem the most put off by it seem to thus far understand it the absolute least, and it hasn't exactly been that difficult to understand, the show has been pretty blatant and explanatory.

Yep I agree with your speculation. I think the "limiter removal" would have a huge part for the story. Specifically on how to defeat OP Gadolls.

It hasn't been balatant and explanatory. While it gave us a lot of answers those answers also rose a lot of question. So far yes I know they are not npc's. They mentioned that in episode 2 that this is a real world which is made into a mmo. So what I meant by calling them npc's is that they feel like npc's and bad programmed ones at that. Like those who don't have more than a fixed linw to say and such. I dunno why but they just don't feel real to me yet. Maybe the players true form put me off too much. Also ecen aside that fact the story is mediocre and pretty cliche to boot.

Good episode, animation in the first scenes were great, the 3D fights remind me of Shingeki no Kyojin. This event like RPG thing threatens to be incredibly dangerous, I wonder what kind of indications do players have with interacting with tankers, I mean, about revealing stuff about the real world, or what’s true or not. I didn’t get if Kurenai is a player or a normal human, for what she said about living there. I appreciate Kaburagi’s attempt to stop Natsume, but her world’s ignorance and will put her where she is now.

It's not accurate in the slightest and I fail to see how you could even begin to have this opinion.

It's not a game. The gears *treat* it like one, but it objectively is not a game for the humans. They are not NPCs. The gears don't even call them NPCs, they refer to the humans as an endangered species who were "bought" and owned by the corporation who manages the gears.

There is nothing present in the show that supports your incorrect interpretation of the plot thus far.

Kaburagi should have known better. He clearly forgot he was training a girl who is the epitome of the standard shounen protagonist. Of course Natsume wouldn't quit so easily.

Entertaining episode overall. Natsume pretty much became a Pro Gear in record time with the way how she dealt with those Gadolls and receiving, as a result, Kurenai's invitation to join The Power.

Regarding the first minutes, I gotta say those combat sequences were simply amazing and the way how the animators "played" with camera angles and different perspectives made it all feel even more thrilling and enjoyable. NUT sure knows how to execute aerial fighting scenes.

This said, it seems next episode will pretty much be a real massacre so I look forward to seeing how our female protagonist will handle such situation.

shit is definitely getting spicy now, this "big event" that they're bringing up definitely has one of the darkest truths behind it god damn. Making humans practically march to there own deaths all for nothing, so the real players can come in later almost like a massive wipe of some sorts, and its scary to think this apparently isn't the first time it's happen.
Must of felt like the entire world was against Natsumee after she joined the powers, and Kaburagi trying to persuade her out of the next fight was more of a "wrong place wrong time" to do so, only made things worst. Also what was that quick flash scene Kaburagi had, with Natsume looking almost dead on the floor? Glitch in the system?Spooky shit.
either way, looks like Natsume with what little training she has, is about to get thrown right into the deep end. Definitely no going back now, lets see if she can become a prodigy of sorts.

it's funny how the show went from "it's close to impossible for a tanker to become a gear" and "you can't fight, not with that hand at least" to "yeah sure, we'll make you a gear, no problem" in a matter of 3-4 episodes.
it was one of the biggest hurdles the show presented initially and now we've moved past it like it's nothing.

Kaburagi almost slipped and said everything is manufactured, that means the Gadoll's were just made for their entertainment? But, how did they make them though what exactly is the mega corporation behind all this? Damn, so many interesting questions.

Another great episode, Fei's reaction is very understandable as a friend but, she should show some little bit of support even if she's against it.

And I like that Natsume's reason for fighting is not something big like trying to save the world but, more on something personal like improving oneself which in a sense is realistic.

Really looking forward to the next episode's hopefully they don't die.

The tankers not knowing what's going on doesn't make the whole thing not a game. Like Kaburagi said nothing is "real", everything is manufactured in oder to keep the players entertained. Obviously the tankers are not "playing around" here but that just makes them "Non Players" and they themselves are monetized heavily by the company. They work to keep the game going and meeting them is part of "the experience" for the players + everything they do / say is recorded and sold for profit. You not liking a term doesn't mean that it not applies. Also, they're cyborgs (mechanically enhanced humans) not robots.

Oh, well, what interesting part i got here? A nice battle sequences for Natsume against the Gadoll. I found it pretty interesting. A lot intensed moment with absolutely beautiful colorful animation, usual taken by Nut as appeared on Youjo Senki, stunned me in the edge of my chair. The other character woman that introduced before, showed her skilled of fighting too! At last, more motivation for Natsume to develop over that world cruelty. Its against the nature of the system, indeed. But, with her brilliant positivity, she might faced that blockade with a nice touch of resistancies by her! At the end, the acknowledged from the other gears of the power were expectable as soon as they realising the potential skill of Natsume. Its time for the real challenge for her life as the new soldier of the Deca-Dence!

Another intrigueing sequences happen a moment after Deca-Dence leader announced another difficult mission. In the world of cyborg in Kaburagi's pov, it revealed more of the nature of the world building system. Its called a designation event to demolished the low ranker gears. In most of the time, the event almost resulting the exact same thing. Ofc, Kaburagi's realised the danger for her beloved Natsume! But, the respond of him was kinda a bit dissapointed.

Yeah, he tried to prohibit that girl by force her hard and destroyed her backpacked? You must be kidding me, old man! Obviously the girl ambitious dream would never surrender with that kind of situations. Not with that nonsense talking by old man like you! Some kind of her conversation with the strongest Tanker girl was also had some nice touchable point. But, Natsume past with her dad had a highlighted point on me to understand more about Natsume! Yeah, its reckless, ofc. But, that Natsume characteristic. No one could preventing her to go reckless! The reason of her was solid as rock. So let just rock n roll and blast the nest of Gadoll!

Okay, Kaburagi, what should you do? Its time for you to go back to the battlefield. No other choice for you!

"A-class and under will be decimated", says the tall bot.

No, they will be all but destroyed. Decimated means one tenth dies. It should be obvious to anyone who knows that a decimeter is one tenth of a meter, and a deciliter is one tenth of a liter. A decibel is one tenth of a bel, after Alexander Graham Bell. It comes from the Roman legions killing every tenth member of a unit when that unit had been cowardly in battle. They lined up facing a cliff and every tenth soldier was pushed off it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the chibi sekai going on in the background, I feel like they ruin my immersion in the story somehow.. maybe I'm just not that used to two completely different settings (coupled with vastly different art styles as well) simultaneously being shown in a series.

This is great. I love that her actual rason to fight is for herself, it's much more honest.
And Kaburagi won't be able to sit idle too now. The "tragic plot" of the game - lol, and they're assholes to bio-humans (the NPC for them).
I also really like how intense the plot is. It's clear they have plenty of events in the pipe, they don't stretch the screentime.

The only minor issue I have is how dark the battle at the beginning was, it was hard to see on my monitor.

Edit: I also think that the butcher friend of Natsume may be onto something about the deceit. She seems to have had something hidden from the start, and I expect her to learn more during her butcher sorties.

Many say that Natsume may end up being dead, but I doubt it. Technically they may revive her in a gear body later, but the show is about her maintaining her purity.
I fear the cool star fighter lady may die. I hope Kaburagi will acknowledge the value of her love/adoration in the end, because damn, she's cool.

I also expect Kaburagi's ranker pals come up again, either as the promised "heroes", or, imo, very likely, as the boss gadoll.
Speaking about gadoll, I bet the pet one will turn out to be special in some way.

Also I wonder - are the gear bodies clones of what the cyborg people were in life? Though when they are gears they are colored, and Kaburagi is not currently - it seems a bit of a plot hole. Is this supposed to be paint? Because otherwise others should've commented on the drastic change of his skin.
I thought he was undercover working as a tanker, but the force recognises him... What's his in-world tale about his demotion then?.. Do they think gears becoming tankers is normal? But we don't get much about theit social structure atm in general, like that back alley market - what was it?
I don't think explaining their social structure is a must for the show, it's fun as it is, so I don't complain, but the skin color change bugs me.

i didn t like the beginning. It was really hard to believe that she became so skilled and was able to kill a monster alone while a team of professional couldn t. Also nobody with a normal mind would try to attack it after seeing that...

She literally went from "i can t kill the weakest gadoll" to "i am better than three professional and i m joining one of the best team right now" in only a few minutes of show

Some surprisingly good animation in the first fight. This show presents a really interesting contrast. All the tankers have no idea what the world is really like and think this is like the final epic battle to save the world. In reality it's just some orchestrated event by our cyborg overlords and this "final hive" was literally just put there for the event. Since the cyborg overlords don't really give a damn about regular humans the overturned the hell out of this event so that a lot of ppl will die and lose their "in game characters" as an excuse the bring back some legendary fighters from the ranker days. Pretty messed up when the normal humans are tied up in all this.

So if this event happened multiple times, does that confirm that Gadol are also man-made or AI-made?

I understand and support Natsume, but situations like this always makes me laugh inside. Having the will to fight; having faith in your friends. That's all good and nice, but things are never that simple anyways. Why does it make me laugh? Because sadly people like her end up dead most times in real life. It's only thanks to the power of plot-armor that MC's make it out alive; and it's obvious she will make it out alive as well; when in reality she'd apparently have 99.9% chance of dying.

So if this event happened multiple times, does that confirm that Gadol are also man-made or AI-made?

The fact that this is a recurring event does not "confirm that Gadol are also man-made", the fact that Kaburagi said that "there is no nest" and "everything is manu(factured)" however does.
