This was an interesting episode. On the one hand, I really like the general tone and atmosphere they've gone for here, and am impressed that it works rather than coming off as silly and implausible. However, the dialogue in this episode was pretty inconsistent; sometimes it was impressive, but it was just as often really heavy-handed or downright confusing (how do they not know about whatever war turned the world into what they're living in? It can't have been more than a few years prior to whenever this first episode takes place).

In any case, this looks promising and is one I'll be eagerly keeping an eye on as the season progresses.

That was surprisingly great. Very atmospheric and well paced. Loved the world and the characters. Music was very fitting as well, this is going to be a great watch.

Yeah, the composer is fairly new to anime, only Re:Zero and Luluco OST previously, but he has around 10+ years doing J-Drama music. He's well known for putting vocals in his music, which really gives a serene feel to it.

That was a pretty solid first episode. The soundtrack was really good and the same goes for the animation, even the 3D cgi as well.

The character design will take sometime for me to get used to, but I think it looks cute though. =)

The whole setting that Yuuri and Chito lives in has given me a bucket-load of questions as to how their world has ended up the way it has. The flashbacks only go to fuel my questions even more, so I hope that it gets touched on throughout the series. =)

Post apocalyptic dystopia with two girls who somehow managed to survive the war on the surface that wiped out all of man. Wonder why they were the only ones to survive, eh?
Feels really chill right now, though I expect some things to pop up in the future. They can't be the sole survivors, can they?

Wow, fantastic story telling. The amount of development the characters got in just the first episode alone is so impressive! Definitely my pick of the season this far.

Hmm a desolate world where two girls on a half bike travel in. So on a whim they decided to explore whats beneath the hole and ended up in a abandoned factory then. Yurri sure is carefree though. So these girls were once in a terrible war it seems. Using saliva to tell wind direction is an interesting idea. The interactions between the two really are cute though. Using the aftermath of a war as a setting sure is interesting though. At least they managed to find some food though. Man that scene where Yuuri pointed her rifle at Chito though was tense. An interesting first episode actually. I wonder is this going to be just the two of them scavenging for supplies as they travel while encountering adventures along the way.

This feels exactly like what I want from a anime heh, beautiful setting, that makes you want to see more, wich is maybe odd to say in a post apocalyptic world, but why I love the fallout series, a oddly beautiful world that makes you want to explore more.

I love the mix between lighthearted and disheartening moments, the art and amazing soundtrack are not to be underestimated either.
This show is easily going to be one of the gems of this fall season.
I read a lot of comparisons to Made in Abyss; but I'm happy this one is a SoL. I think what's going to work in favour of Shoujo Shuumatsu is exactly that mix I was talking about. Gakkougurashi sort of tried something similar; but it had a tad bit too much moe in it, to take seriously what was happening.

This show is NOT made in abyss. This one actually stays light hearted (though in this one there are a lot of depressing undertones) for the whole time. it's an iyashikei, aka a relaxing show.

You don't have to emphasize that it's NOT Made In Abyss. Jeez. I was just comparing the character design of this anime to MIA. Idk anything about this anime, so *shrugs*. Lol.

Pretty slow and calm this first episode, but the atmosphere is terribly sad and lets perhaps mean things will not be fun for the two protagonists. Not bad the few comic scenes, the two protagonists are already nice to me. The OST is great. Look forward to the next episodes to decide what to do with this anime series.

Good start. Was looking forward to this and I'm already impressed.

When Yuuri pointed that gun at Chito surprised me. Should have expected

I like both characters already. Funny moment when Yuuri tried to eat Cito's arm in while she's sleeping.

This looked like an underdog of the season. You know White Fox is generally going be bring quality. Strong first episode. It was different take on SOL genre. Lot of mystery here which I hope gradually gets answered.

Wow, pretty solid episode.

The underlying theme about the futility of war is being treated in a very mature way.

So, Yuu is the comic relief while Chi is the more serious of the two.
The fact that they had enough bullets to throw around but didn't have enough food is really indicative of the situation we might find ourselves in one day. The art is solid too.

That moment when Yuu said that had the people saved food instead of making weapons, they wouldn't be in this situation, struck a chord in my heart.

That was a really nice start.

Didn't expect it to be THAT laidback, even a decent bit of comedy involved. Don't mind this though.

Very atmospheric (i'm a sucker for stuff like that) and the banter between the two is funny.

Let's see where the journey goes and what else they will find throughout.

No I think the apocalypse took place some time ago, and they lived in one of the few survivors' settlements, but it went to war too so they fled. (making conjectures only, I don't read the manga).

I really enjoyed watching this! There's a certain simplicity to this anime that really appeals to me. The atmosphere created between the girls and the world was awesome. Even just the relationship between Chi and Yuu was enjoyable to watch. Looking forward to seeing how the story progresses and how the girls survive. The music was wonderful and I think White Fox did a great job on the animation so far; very atmospheric. Fantastic voicing by Minase and Kubo as usual - glad to see some of my favorite seiyuus in an anime together :)

Loved it! Very atmospheric. Episode didn't reveal much about a story.
There was a war, the surrounding world is destroyed and two girls travel through this unfriendly reality on some tank-like vehicle.
There was some flashbacks in Chito's dream.
I'm really curious what happened and what will happen later on.
Poor girls didn't know chocolate...
5/5 for me.

I got myself a favorite of the season already! It's SOOOOO atmospheric and contemplative... and the mix of greatly produced moe with a post apocalyptic setting really makes me fanboy over it for some reason... Gonna LOVE this show. I just hope the next episodes keep up this pace.

i really enjoyed the music and attention to rustic weaponry despite the character design so simple. i'm already really attached to the bond the chito and yuuri have and i almost gasped when yuuri threatened chito over chocolate. I was thinking "oh no, i didn't sign up for dark themes in my slice of life anime, nope, no thanks" but it lightened up! As it is a slice of life anime c:

The characters are incredibly likeable to me.
If war were to happen between these girls, I don't think I could choose haha
I'm looking forward tot he next episode

Knowing your impressions about made in abyss, maybe watch 1 or 2 more episodes then drop it if you can't bear the slowness. This is an iyashikei anime so obviously it's slow and not much happens.

I really don't like the character design.

They look like potatos with downturned eyes and no noses. Also their arms and bodies are animated weirdly when they move, like when Chi was punching the other girl.

Very slow paced, but the music and world-building are great, got some very Soviet post-WW2 vibes going on.

Thanks for the advice. I don't mind world-building and atmosphere and all that... I just get bored when nothing is happening. It's a character flaw, I'll admit. I will definitely give it a few episodes before dropping it, though.

Didn't even know there was going to be an anime adaptation of the manga until about two days ago. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I love the moe-blob art style and how it contrasts the darker visuals and atmosphere of the show. Basically a slice-of-life in the post-apocalypse, kinda like Gakkou Gurashi. Some deep thinking framed within some simple and cute moments.

Can't wait for more!

Went into this show completely blind; and within the first minute, I was already hooked. Atmosphere, pacing, soundtrack (shiver), and the chemistry between the two mains are up there with some of the best shows I've seen.

Very very promising opening episode. Sadly, it's based on a manga, so I now have to avoid reading the forums for fear of having my enjoyment tampered by spoilers.

Still, between this show and Just Because, fall is showing a lot of promise. And we haven't even seen the heavy hitters like 3-gatsu and Magus Bride yet.
