Dorothy's methods are as creative as they are effective... On the note of spies, Beatrice seems cute and functional – the mute switch is exceedingly convenient. The mission was interesting, I didn't imagine that there was a significant technological disparity between the opposing states.

Order your lolis today, they come now with an additional mute button.

Jokes aside, pretty solid episode, waiting for this for a bloody long time, but it was worth it.

Wow, this shit keeps getting better and better with each episode. I rarely get that feeling. The last time I got it, was from the first Rage of Bahamut anime. I hope it continues to build up like this!

So the girls are not all quite on the same side/faction.

We know where Chice and Dorothy belong now, but they're obviously getting emotionally attached to the team, even though they know they shouldn't. Beatrice doesn't belong to any one side right now, and she probably follows Princess without truly knowing her motives.
And to be blunt, we don't truly know on which side Ange and Princess are. Those two are the biggest enigma right now. It's been shown so far that Ange is looking after Princess, but is that really all?
Pretty interesting. It seems to me that it all depends on what's going on with Princess.

Anyway, great episode. I liked Ange's use of her device like that. That crap reminded me of the sorta bullshit you saw in the CSI series lol

So it seems that the empire has finally created a game changer eh. Hmm a library as a meeting place eh. As a princess their team can get into locations that their others teams can't thats true. Hmm so the first mission of theirs was actually a training mission for the new members eh. So Chise is the close ranged combatant of the team eh. Its nice seeing the girls try so hard and have fun with coming up a name for their team though. Tailing is a integral part of a spies work so its a good thing for them to practice on. Considering the importance of the resource it's to be expected that the mines will be heavily guarded. The power of princess though really is amazing. Looks like Chise wants to be part of the steal team though. So thats the queen eh. Dorothy's drunk maiden trick always comes in handy lol. Beatrice's skill at imitating voices really is amazing. Hmm so Chise was sent from Japan to determine who they should help then eh. Hmm so the duke is adamant that princess is used this way to secure their dominance of Europe eh.

Getting past the fan will be the hard part though. But man glad that she managed to get past it. This episode sure has a lot of secret orders though. Hmm so they still think princess is a double agent eh. Understandable i guess. Hmm thats an impressive ability of Ange's device. To be able to see imprints of what was here previously eh. To think they moved an entire lab though. Thats a pretty impressive boat there. So it seems they found the loyalist spy within their lab staff eh. Wow their path to intercept the lab sure was unconventional lol. Hmm so the reason why they are reluctant to use Chise is because they want to avoid putting her in unnecessary danger eh. Princess always surprises me with how brave she is tbh. Plus she's pretty understanding of her friends as well. Though it is true that she has as much to lose as her team mates as well. So thats why she is willing to put herself on the line as well eh. From this the chances of her being a double is pretty low. The teams teamwork though really is impressive and complement each other nicely. Hmm the black veil look really conveys a sense of mystique to princess. That was an impressive mission result though thats for sure. Im surprised that the girls like to take risks though but i guess thats part of their charm.

I really hope that the princess isn't double agent...
Oh, and btw, the backgrounds are so gorgeous!
I'm liking Beatrice more now, she is such a cutie :3 And she always tries to help the squad xD
So this episode wasn't about case 4 as i expected but yes case 9, wonder what case will be the next since we aren't following an order. 12->1->2->9
Can't wait for more revelations. Love when they are on their missions.
Apparently, Chise is kind of a double agent.

That would be the biggest plot twist ever xD But i doubt, maybe 1 or 2 but no more.
In the end, i think they will all become real friends, without no one being a double agent.

As the car is going down stairs, Chise is trying to come up with a team name like nothing is going on. I'm glad we got to see her in action too.

Case 9. At least they aren't going in order after showing the last case first. Out of order is much more interesting. Not saying it's "better" (don't know that yet), just more interesting.

Epic bg detail & huge freeways reminds of Kekkai Sensen.
That animation... when those three bumped into each other, so much detail, Beat touches her nose then gazes back at Dorothy in surprise. And Hime's bridge moment, everyone has their secret issues & trying to prove their worth to the team.
Nonlinear isn't making it confusing, a lot's happening & their spy plans always quite intricate, but most things are explained. Feeling the rewatch value already.
So far...
White Pigeon: mostly Commonwealth spies
Chise: 3rd country investigating which Albion to ally with, sent by Lord Hirokawa. Quite serious samurai loli.
Hime: L (spymaster?) says she's grey, not double agent yet. Funny Dorothy dislikes grey, right in a side shot of Ange's grey hair (oh director foreshadowing?).
Dorothy: seems highest in spy rank.
Cavorite ball: So Kingdom made a "miniature control unit" like Ange/Commonwealth's. So what's the point? Besides stealing the prototype, L mentions "refining tech" that only Kingdom has, and that combined with the prototype tech makes it a threat. Also Ange's overheats. It's possible the imprisoned Kingdom scientists have useful tech to copy.
Ange's dust view was really cool. I partly understood that. It's a lab so a lot of cavorite dust is left on the ground, more density collecting near machine edges. So when she shot the ball to turn it on (she doesn't want to float by touching it), the ball perhaps conducts more readily with Cavorite dust nearby, creating the machine contours.

Case 9 is full of fun bits (like Ange hitting the mute button on Beatrice) and is overall a solid case. It's set sometime before episode 1 (case 13), but well after episodes 2 and 3 (cases 1-2). Chise is on the team by this point, although apparently she's a double agent, even if she appears to have grown fond of the girls.

Full album with some key moments

Princess's fate looks ominous, as her uncle is trying to coax her into a political marriage. Control still doesn't trust her, despite the success of the mission, and having previously claimed that she was their best asset (although that doesn't imply that they would trust her, I suppose). I really liked her gentle banter with Ange, especially on the ship. I admit that lines like "Meanie. You like to see me squirm" and "I would lose control of myself" make me weak in the knees.

Random observation: Dorothy has the best jokes, but Beatrice has the best visual gags.

Ange = intel/infiltration guide
Chise = tactical weapon specialist
Beato = incognito voice changeover
Princess = insider political connections

I feel like this is a pretty solid team here. It's giving Totally Spies a run for its money lol

Dorothy's oppai is the highlight of this episode. Hahaha.

The soundtrack of this anime is soo goood. It's so Cowboy Bebop-py.

When Ange 'mute' Beatrice I lost it. Haha. Aww, Beatrice, you cutie. Hihihi.

I thought they're going to name their team "Princess Principal". I'm disappointed.

Loved this episode. :)

The C-Ball was a technology only the Commonwealth possessed, and also is a state secret and only a few of their best spies receive one to use. The Kingdom just had come up with the same tech, and coupled with the Kingdom having a better Cavorite refining tech, it would be quite a blow to the Commonwealth.

The material (mineral? don't think we know details) that seems to be able to manipulate/negate gravity. The discovery and M<monopoly on it that made the Albion Kingdom become the great empire it is now by using it to make huge flying fortresses. With the split, thw two sides have yet but there seems to be differences on how good each is at different parts of it.

A huge advancement is to be able to miniaturize it's uses to create weapons and tools like the C-ball Ange uses.

So let me get this straight:
Empire-has massive amounts of the material thing that can manipulate gravity.
Commonwealth-has a small object of that, the C-ball, the gravity ball, which the empire does NOT have

Observations regarding the C-Ball:

The type the Commonwealth has seems to have an operational time limit, and it can fail if that is exceeded (see episode 3), and this may be due to overheating (see episode 1). The likely reason the Kingdom's better refining technology would give their device the advantage is that it either substantially mitigates this issue or perhaps eliminates it entirely. (Impurities in the Cavorite could cause heat generation, which would normally require a substantial cooling apparatus).

It seems that the inconsistencies in the history of the story are due to the fact that they do not have the episodes in consequence. Narration for the umpteenth time uses the same pattern seen earlier, but tight rhythm and strokes make this little flaw. I hope that in the future, do not use the excuse of the princess, to motivate every mission, it would be dull the vision with this assumption. The characters of Ange, Dorothy and the princess are becoming increasingly charismatic. Pure Beatrice and Chise, are interesting as characters, if viewed in a sympathetic and comedic key.

Some people seem to get hung up over this mission's plot, which isn't hard to understand at all. The Kingdom doesn't have mini-C-balls, just big ones, this is explained in episode 1.

Princess is in fact the best kind of spy, since she has high level access and is above suspicion. What more could you possibly ask for in an amateur agent?

Princess definitely runs the greatest risk since being ID'd ends her effectiveness as a spy and since her ID is her asset, the risk to her is the most severe if she's in the clear.
Still, I don't think I quite buy Dorothy's logic here, since if Princess is the source of the info leak, might not a trap already be prepared on the vessel as a contingency or a bigger plot to burn the enemy spy team? Princess going along on the vessel would simply be part of the plan so the proof of innocence would probably be in whether the mission succeeds, not the act of Princess joining the mission.

Nice episode but as much as I'm a fan of non-linear storytelling and I get that its used to build up the suspense individually as well as for the whole show, otherwise in chronological some of that mystique is lost, I still feel like the non-linear style doesn't work here compared to other shows like Kara no Kyoukai, Boogiepop, Monogatari, etc. It just feels clunky in comparison to those shows, for example with the introduction of Chise in this one just felt off compared to the other ones and for some people, the structure could throw them off unnecessarily rather than because its a confusing puzzle like some of the better non-linear series I've mentioned. Still though, it was fun regardless of its weird structure and the best moment for me was Ange turning off the machine helping Beatrice be able to speak, when she was screaming for dear life and Ange was tired of her shit. Her screaming in mute made me laugh a bit ngl.

Another case, and it involves the heart of the show: the Cavorite ball that the Commonwealth has been seeking to edge over the Albin Kingdom.

The usual Principal spy team of girls on the case, and Beatrice getting her voice cut off is comical. Dorothy knows how to use her sex appeal to the full, and the possibility of Princess being a double agent is half-checked.

Just as action-hyped as any other case, especially with Chise's involvement.

Cavorite is one mystery I'd be interested in finding more about. Its full characteristics are unknown to the viewer, but one must assume that, in terms of world-building, it plays a huge role.

A war full of scientists and spies, eh. More like old dudes and young girls.

Whoever said they thought Chise would be from a tertiary power not aligned with the Commonwealth or the Kingdom was absolutely spot on. Honestly my thoughts on a betrayal arc are starting to seem less and less valid. Each member is being given personal motivations to support the others over even their masters. Chise seems more sympathetic as a character this episode, Dorothy seems disturbed by even the suggestion that she should be distrustful of Princess. We already know the Beatrice is absolutely loyal to Princess and Ange and Princess are almost certainly completely loyal to one another.
