| My, that was a powerful and ghastly performance of "Shinigami". It certainly gave me the shivers, as did the episode as a whole. If this trend keeps up, I may as well rate the show "10" after the final episode airs. I'm looking forward to seeing how Sukeroku and his lovely mate have been faring. The first glimpse was interesting enough, Konatsu seemed to be charismatic enough, despite her young age. |

| Count on Kiku to preform Rakugo about death after his Master's passing. His performance was thrilling. The reunion is finally happening next week. It can't come fast enough! |
| What a powerful perfomance by Kiku. Another episode we get to see more of his thoughts and life, now without the presence of Sukeroku, his master and Miyo. He seems to prefer solidarity but I think he craves close human contract too. Yakumo's last moments with Kiku were also good. I didn't expect the master who taught Sukeroku rakugo to be someone who knew that well. He said in episode 1 that he knew of the rakugo little Sukeroku was performing but it was a bittersweet surprise to see the whole story. The time between their break up and when Miyo got pregnant doesn't match. 3. Konatsu is an exact portrait of Sukeroku (just look at her!) There is also another clue but it's a spoiler as I said. But rest assured, Sukeroku is her father. |

| Wow, what an amazing episode! After five years, we get a very moving scene with Yakumo on his deathbed, talking about the Sukeroku that he knew ... dang, is that why he was so upset with the younger one? Kiku's shinigami performance after was pretty creepy, and was all about him finding his "solitude" huh? Pretty cool that everyone gets their own entrance song! Now we've got our fateful reunion and Konatsu! Aww, doing rakugo from such a young age ... can't wait to see our two best friends interact though! :3 |
| This has to be one of my most favorite episodes in Shouwa Genroku. Little Konatsu was so cute. I didn't really like their master but I felt sad when he passed away. Ishida Akira's prowess as a seiyuu is amazing. He's definitely one of the best out there. |

| That kid's performance was adorable. :3 Yakumo (RIP) shedding light upon Sukeroku's situation made Sukeroku's character all the more compelling. Best boy! I was expecting him to already be dead ._. but judging by the preview it looks like he's not. Kiku's Shinigami was powerful... Did everyone forget Kiku's Shinigami story is the one talked about in the first episode? Supposedly Kiku's most notorious performance. They made us wait 10 episodes to actually see it. D: |

| Holy crap, was Kiku's performance about his old master? That whole "wasted your life chasing fortune" bit really matches with his deathbed story, and then that bit about having to light another candle with his but failing is exactly what happened with him and Sukeroku. Then the Shinigami takes his life after his failure... also exactly what happened! If so, it's extremely unsettling for Kiku to perform that right after master's death. It's not wrong, it's just *cold*. |

| The father and son final conversation was so heart wrenching. The revelation in that conversation was something I never had expected. No wonder why the master treated Shin like he did, but the weight of guilt was too much as he admitted on his deathbed. Mini-Konatsu's performance was wonderful and shes takes up her father indeed. It just can't be Kiku. The only anime to get a 9/10 from me this season. |

| Hmm, pretty boring episode, maybe save for the end where Konatsu appeared. I just realized Kikuhiko alone really can't carry this show as Miyokichi or Sukeroku are a lot lot interesting characters and he only shines in interactions with them. Which is shame because he's main character here. But I guess finale is coming and there will be no such one-sided episodes anymore. |

| I admit candidly, that only now I can say I understand "almost" really the beauty of rakugo. Narratively interesting I found two points of the story, because han surprised me, but a little of the credit for this, it should also director and writer; one is the revelation of the Kiku's master, the other and see Konatsu do rakugo in place of his father. Discrete drawings and sets. |

| What an awesome episode. Also, the storyline of Shinigami surprised me because it's similar to Dařbuján and Pandrhola, an old Czech fairytale. Basically, a personification of death lets a poor guy who struggles to feed his family become a doctor through the same means as in the show. Granted, the fairytale is a fairytale (plus it's rather comedic in nature), so there's a happy end, but still, it's strange. Damn, now I wanna watch it again because it was funny as hell. |

| Interestingly enough The one that became Yakumo isn't Sukeroku, again.. Shinigami rakugo is pretty.. well scary I guess? His voice is kinda creepy I must say.. That's pretty impressive I like that rakugo xD Shin gave up on rakugo for good, but taught his child instead? |

| damn the level of persistence and revenge... I mean ignoring the fact of recognizing the name of his former opponent(that the reason for being called a opponent has its own story) then again to seek revenge of someone who is not even responsible for it..by forcing his name onto a different person..ignoring other important aspects like talent and dedication. So, much for pride. And now the only survivor looks his current situation as something he longed for. The solitude one will end up with if one walks on similar path(career > everything else) this logic did hit me harder for the fact it seems so realistic and inescapable. I am impressed by the creators to bring this subject upfront. |

| Long story short: 7th Generation passed away, revealing a rather shocking plot twist concerning how HE got his name and the old man Sukeroku (Yeah, remember him? The old man who inspired Bon, the current Sukeroku) And it doesn't stop there. We finally get to see Kikuhiko perform his magnum oppus (To his current disciple at least) 'Shinigami'. When I saw the performance, I was sucked in. This is the first time the show gave us a rakugo based on black humor. The way how he fell was a rather silly on my part, but I couldn't help but give a rounding applause. It was great, authentic and sticks to the kind of rakugo Kikuhiko has been searching for his whole life. And just when you thought it was over, he managed to reach a village in the middle of nowhere(?) and surely enough, finds a little girl doing rakugo. That's when he knew, that he was on the right track and Bon is here. Notice how his right eye twitched at the girl's name. Attention to detail - makes you smarter every time you catch it. |

| Literally on his death bed, the master confesses that Shin should have the 8th Generation title. Well, where the hell is Shin to take it?! Oh yeah, the crazy geisha bitch... Rakugo performers seem to differ from traditional performers today. I doubt most entertainers today would do a story about death to an audience that just attended a tragic funeral the day before. Shin's kid is doing rakugo! Impressive...wouldn't he be only five years old at this time? |

| That reveal, though. Yakumo-san's rival back then was old Sakurako who had a tragic backstory after losing to his rival and yeah that rival was old Sakurako himself. FUck. RIP, old man. I think that was the first time I saw Bon performing a horror/suspense/thriller rakugo. And holy shit it was so goooood. Bon decided to look for Shin and Miyokochi. Gaaaah. Little Konatsuuuuuuuuu! |

| The music at he climax of the rakugo performance of Yakumo's master gave me the chills, really well done to represent the situation, their conversation was also really good. Year passed, and now with his master dead, and Sukeroku and Miyokichi having left the city, Yakumo is alone in this world of Rakugo, this is what his decisions lead to. Time to see what happens with the visit, looks like he found smol Konatsu there! |

| This was such a sad episode. Yakumo's master finally passed away. I imagine rakugo is demanding on the body, so I can see his master passing away out of exhaustion like that, especially when doing challenging works. We finally meet Konatsu, and I love that she is doing good rakugo at such a young age. Her style definitely reminds me of Sukeroku. At this point, I'm only left with a few questions. Has Sukeroku given up rakugo himself? When will he pass away (and how)? When will Yakumo take the Yakumo title? I'm sure these questions will get answered in the coming episodes, but I'm quite curious right now. |

| My god this episode was so great, especially Kikuhiko's shinigami rakugo performance just after his master passed away + the conversation he and Yakumo had before the Yakumo's passing was melancholic too, especially for Shin given how he was regardless forced out in a harsh manner despite having better rakugo potential than Kikuhiko, kind of like how the master cheated his way into the title and leaving Shin's master high to dry. Shin's side really is just a whole tragic tale innit. At least the kid version of Konatsu reciting rakugo at the time was really adorable to watch, definitely suspect though about how Miyokichi would feel about her daughter doing rakugo given how she hated rakugo in the first place. |
| The Yakumo has passed away. The moments after his last performance were rather intense. Kikuhiko's performance was amazing! I've definitely read that story about the doctor before, but I forgot the name. So Yakumo was learning alongside Sukeroku, the same dude who took care of Shin. And even he was cast out just like Shin was:( Young Konatsu's quite adorable and she's just as energetic as Shin. |
