It broke my heart when I saw that Zuka-chan didn't get the role. I really want her to become more relevant in the series sooner than later, that scene in the store she works in has me rooting for her 100x more than I was already. Seeing her left out is heartbreaking, let her have a chance in the spotlight dammit. T_T
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

Having seen similar things, it can be if the wrong people are involved, but not quite that crazy. Still, it's not uncommon for those involved in selecting to focus heavily on less important aspects, including advocating candidates based solely on having personal connections with the agency that employs them.

As annoying and pushy as Daisuke Hiraoka is, he still doesn't hold a candle to Tarou in my books. The new guy has been in the industry for 5 years and has amassed enough experience to warrant his arrogance. Tarou on the other hand still does nothing but shirk responsibilities and make messes for others to clean up. Considering destructive/constructive tendencies, Tarou is still the shitz in that department for me.

God I nearly teared up for Shizuka when they broke the bad news to her that at least 3 of the four others (not sure about CG girl) are working on the project whilst she's being left out. I tend to agree with the general opinion that something will happen to first choice "Christine" (considering she's waiting on two other offers) and she'll end up getting the part. What will make her selection all the more sweeter is that unlike Midori, who was kinda pre-tested by her working as Diesel-san on Exodus, Zuka would be able to completely say that her (coming) success was all down to her own hard work and not any connections. In fact I have to commend Director-san for once for having a good ear for new talent.

Oh, that voice actress selection meeting... took 14+ hours and had soo much politiking that it made me sick. At first I was kinda sold on the guy in the middle being professional due to wanting an actress who can sing properly, as opposed to left-pervert and right-fame-obsessed-idiot, but when he started busting out actresses that were affiliated with his own company, all respect just got thrown out the window at that point.

That recommended outsourcing studio seems a bit shady though. Not sure if its the best idea to go with them...

I'm sorry to say this but it is not that simple. He said he worked for four companies so far, which means he can be an irresponsible job-hopper working for only one year or so for each company and all companies fired him for a certain reason...
Pretending to be an arrogant expert is one of the most essential way to put himself into a safer side. He could survive if younger coworkers believed the project failed because their lack of experience interfere the works of the expert.

Also, I have a feeling that he and the studio Titanic may have a back-scratching alliance and it can be the reason he had to escape from the current workplace to the other company repeatedly.

God, those loud people were really annoying. I mean, just go with majority. Glad someone levelheaded was sitting there. God, I feel sorry for these people.

On the other hand, I am happy for Imai.

A 14 hour meeting about voice acting must been stressful, especially dealing with the three stooges on the left. -_- lol

Another good and informative episode. Shame that Shizuka didn't get either role for the anime. Hearing that Desk-Chan and Diesel-San (love the nicknames XD) are working on the series must've been a bitter pill for Shizuka to swallow. I hope she gets a minor character role in the series at the very least. =)

I'm thinking choosing studio Taitanic to help might not be a good idea, looking at how the insides looks run down and in desperate need of cleaning. I have a feeling that the project might hit a few roadblocks in the future. =/

The three annoying men at the meeting represent the companies working along with Musani this time. I guess they came from companies of a video game publisher, a music publisher and an event coordinator, which take part in the project financially to some extent. They have to prioritize their company's interest first as a represent much more than the new anime itself. To them, the anime is noting but an advertisement tool for their products. If it were a magical girl anime for little kids they would insists the story should contain one or more episodes that the girls get some new magic item and old ones are outdated or broken. Which is introduced because they have to sell another toy to the consumers repeatedly with some excuse that the old items are useless in the original story anymore saying they must be upgraded. (No kidding. It actually happens.)

Well, this is where reality enters into the picture. Most animations have a record company as part of the production committee, and since the record company is putting money into the project, they naturally want to maximize their returns. What better way than to have the songs sung by someone already under contract with them? All things being equal, why shouldn't they want their talent to succeed? That is what being a good manager entails.

What I loved about this scene is that it showed the competing interests every production has (though of course exaggerated for effect). The publishers want to sell books, the record companies want to sell records, the advertisers want a model that appeals to people, all of these interests are very real, very important things to the people involved, and this is part of the real problem of committees. This is what makes directors so important, balancing all these interests. Note that the director got what he wanted most, the voice he wanted for the lead, he had to compromise later when it came to Shizuka, but that is unfortunately what people have to do, otherwise nothing gets done.

As for Shizuka, she showed an important lesson as well: skill alone doesn't win, you also have to have luck. This is why you can't give up, while sometimes the luck never comes, you still have to spin the wheel over and over and over again in hope your number does eventually come up.

And yes, the CG is also working on the animation, she is with the company that is drawing the fighters for the show.

The real issue I think isn't the Titanic Production company (the guy sleeping in the car shows that they stick to the end), but rather that the writer hasn't approved the Character Designs yet. That I think will be what finally gives Shizuka her break.

Well as a newcomer it's good that Shizuka got noticed. Unfortunately, she lost out to experience, but that's just how it is. Once she gets her debut it'll be a bit easier for her. It's great that she's practicing with musicals to gain that speaking confidence. :)

Not sure if Taitanic will be reliable. And the new guy is shady. 4 companies in 5 years... that's not necessarily (at all) a good thing, is it?

A pretty strong episode. I couldn't fully enjoy what was definitely a funny scene, because the entire seiyu selection was turned nerve-wrecking by me anticipating Zuka finally getting a role. I think her struggle should resonate with anyone who has had a string of failures in their life and it was really heartbreaking to see her come up short once again. On a side note, the new guy looks intriguing. I wonder what direction they'll take with his character.

That's a bit unfair though! She got the Exodus research and the first one for Aerial Girls through connections. But she didn't get paid for either one, and yet we're told she did an excellent job. And then her hard work was noticed. So she absolutely got the job due to her own hard work. The fact that she was only able to “audition” due to connections doesn't enter — if we're going that far, Zuka also only auditioned because her agent got word of it (agency probably invited to send a few candidates).

Speaking of which — am I the only one thinking Zuka's agent kind of sucks? I mean, clearly she's good, but as far as we know she only did one background noise job. I get the feeling her agent keeps sending her only to regular roles. If she's really good and completely unknown, clearly the way to go would be to flood her with minor character roles, so she can get known by the studios, while at the same time accruing some experience.

Some of you feel it's unfair for Diesel-san has gotten the job at the studio because she is a friend of Miyamori's. But the studio hired her not because of that but because she showed the remarkable ability for probing many sort of technical research and writing them into reports easily understandable to those who didn't know the background knowledge of the subjects. It is nothing special both in Japan and in the US for a company to ask their employee to introduce some possible candidates in person when they hire a specialist, because which is rather safer option for the company. You must carefully recommend the person to your firm. If you invite a useless friend there, you'll lose your face and not only his or her but possibly also your own name will be put into the list of candidate for the next dismissal because you aren't able to understand your coworker's ability or problem, which is a potential risk for the company that you would make a disastrous construct in someday because of your carelessness. It is kind of a mutual contract rather than a friendship between the two. As far as I know, many large and well-known companies in the US suggest that their people introduce friends or acquaintances suitable for filling currently vacant seats and they would happily pay some bonus to you if you find a good person to hire.

Pretending to be an arrogant expert is one of the most essential way to put himself into a safer side. He could survive if younger coworkers believed the project failed because their lack of experience interfere the works of the expert.

In addition to that, I had a feeling that Hiraoka Daisuke (the new member) was trying to infuse a bad rumor about Segawa-san (a logical and dependable freelance animator) to Miyamori, which is, just my imagination but, possibly because of his personal resentment. He said Segawa-san was nice to Miyamori just because she had a partiality to women. I never believe someone trying to spread a bad rumor about their co-worker without a definite proof. I saw those sort of schemers when I was working for video game companies. While it is very difficult to make your reputation better by your own hard working, it is easier to interfere your co-walkers' job in order to make them lose position. If it was a factory installed surveillance cameras and equipments to measure the result of everyone's job quality correctly, the company could find those intriguers before they cause some damages. But, members of publishing industry are specialists dealing with a particular job so that it difficult for the others to find someone causes an accident by dolus eventualis or willful negligence... I don't like to say this, but after all we are human.

Those three clients are sure noisy and argumentative. LOL with the client on the left who only thinks of visual prospects of the VA comparing it to a Gravure Idol (always about Oppai and bottoms!). And looks like Sakaki-san is the only one left out of the group that works on the same project. I wonder if Miyamori could persuade Musani in getting also Sakaki-san on the same project with the rest of the main galz.

Poor Shizuka, she will be the only one left alone... But I have a feeling that one of chosen VA will cancel her job due to unforseen circumstances and Shizuka would get hired. Yet this can happen some time into production when no other viable choices will be free. To me, her Noa voice was a lot better than Catherine though.

An okay episode. I felt like that casting talk prolonged a little to much. Hiraoka seems pretty annoying but let's see how he turns out.

But it's sure outsourcing to Taitanic animation will be very choice one way or another. Their episodes 5 and 10 could be failures.

Episode that partly dispels my doubts about possible déjà vu show yourself horizon previously. Yes, there is the issue of Rii-chan entering the ranks of the MusAni, but the part devoted to the choice of voice actors is so thick realistic that the first point is forgotten in his favor; so overall the episode is as positive criticism. Narratively was engaging and informative, interesting dialogues and new characters have increased my curiosity about the plot; although the new assistant to me is a bit 'obnoxious at first sight. Then with the episode today, are increasingly convinced that the real protagonist is almost Zuka and its tribulations, instead of Miyamori. Although I believe that all this is to increase the pathos before choosing her as a voice actor, voice actor because the official abandon the role for commitments occurred. Do not wait to savor the next episodes.

Aw man, the audition meeting would have given me a headache. I actually directed something a while back and I was stuck between two actors and had a mini crisis over who to choose. Of course, it wasn't based on their butts or boobs. Shizuka's audition had me thinking she was going to land a part for sure, so close but no go and that left me with a sinking feeling for the rest of the episode. It's good to see the other girls moving up bit by bit though.
