I was quite confident when starting this show because it seems to be exactly what I like, but this episode wasn't really what I expected. The characters don't seem all that interesting (I heard some good things about Saki but for now she doesn't seem to be anything new), and the atmosphere didn't captivate me, it is clear they're trying to create a scary, mysterious setting but I don't know, I'm not feeling it.
I'm kinda intrigued by this whole spiritual aspect, as well as the disappearance of Saki's classmate and the murders shown at the beginning.
Maybe this show can become something interesting, I really hope so, but I can't help but feel like it's gonna be a show trying to be deep but suffering from a bland cast.

Rewatching Shinsekai Yori after a few years. Originally I loved this show but for a long time later on, began to feel really indifferent about it. So the rewatch is to really clarify if I love or hate this show since given how much I've grown and how much anime I've seen nowadays, I can assess it better now whether or not the show really was good or if it aged like milk for me. Have pretty much no memories of it so I'll talk about it on forums like I've never seen it before.

When it comes to the first episode, it leaves a solid but unremarkable impression so far. The post-apocalyptic setting seems interesting, and some of the concepts involved are fascinating too (especially some of the Buddhist elements involved) but the cast takes it down a bit for being underwhelming so far. Plus the actual story itself still lacks a catch or any sort of identity to bite into, but there is time for it to slowly develop into being a worthy mystery. For now, an average start with some potential if well executed but I do hope that the first few episodes don't feel as sluggish as this (again, the cast does not help whatsoever).

I will say this though, I really love the music so far used in the anime; really atmospheric and works with the mysterious setting involved at hand. And the ED song Wareta Ringo was damn good too, one of the few things I actually did remember and my admiration for that song has not changed whatsoever.

Reminds of Haibane Renmei in a way with it's premise, loved the ED music and video. Feels somewhat promising considering it's Haibane Renmei feel but I'm only somewhat intrigued. Will see how this show progresses

Dropped this a year ago, picking it up again because I think I can properly appreciate it now, and besides that it's a highly acclaimed anime that looks like it deserves to be watched. It is indeed quite like The Promised Neverland, just on a larger scale. Just this first episode is already packed with information, and we haven't even begun to scratch the surface it seems.

This has been on my list for a little while now, and I'm finally getting around to checking it out. All I can say out of the gate is, "What the heck did I just watch?" I feel like it was all over the place, I had to go back at least once to make sure I wasn't missing stuff between scenes. This is not at all what I was expecting going into this.

That being said, it wasn't bad. It just required me to stay pretty focused. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what happens. I wonder how many kids are expected to survive? If Reiko is any indicator, simply graduating from Harmony isn't enough to stay safe.

A very shocking and intense first scene that does not manage to set the tone for the rest of the episode. Learning the world's history via classroom history lesson is an unfortunately passive way to bring the audience up to speed and found it difficult to persevere through caring about the unfolding mystery. Nor did I find myself really meshing with any of the characters so far but am holding out for something. Hopefully, it doesn't rely too much on twist/reveal-based storytelling.

The first episode of the series definitely left me interested in what is happening in the series' world and story. The characters are alright, but we've only just met them, so I'm interested to see where they end up, as their averageness plays into the mystery of the world and allows us as audience members to feel like we are discovering things alongside the protagonists. There is a very eerie and sinister air in the show, as it is one of those stories where all may not be as it seems with how things are being run. Those stories always interest me, and Shinsekai Yori's art style and undertones are alluring enough for me to and likely others to invest their time into. And on a sidenote, I love how unique their attire is. Visually, their attire and the art-style help the series simply look different and interesting. As well the visuals when we were being told the story of the ogre and the bridge, really hyped me for how else the series will tell other stories like that, or just to see how far the visuals will go when things likely start to unravel.

I fell asleep twice during the first episode, picked it up later at night, now I'm fucking scared to sleep.
I love how the horror elements are built subtly underneath the summer-vibes settings, kinda reminds me of Summertime rendering. But I think this episode introduced too many things which is probably why I fell asleep in the first place. I think the story needs to take it's time to provide a solid base for the mystery, let's see what it has to offer.
I usually don't have high hopes for horror shows, but I think this one might be interesting

I can only expect a good rewatch. It's been a while since I completed this one. Funny that this episode suddenly makes sense now that I know the story. I remember feeling confused.
