It's the continuation of the manga, based on the second part (tales). If you are going in with only the previous anime as the backstory, you'll probably be confused with some of the plot in this new season. There's so much difference between the old anime and manga that you might as well say that the only things that were the same were the character's personalities (debatable) and the setting. Story wise, it went way off course except for the fact that Souseiseki and Hina Ichigo did lose their Rosa Mystica. |

Maybe read the prequel manga of this anime (well I haven't read it myself but that is apparently the best way to understand it). The first season doesn't really follow the manga properly, but maybe it will make you understand the characters and overall plot a bit more (such as the Alice game and such). This first episode here is a recap episode, but it kind of points out the things that the first anime season didn't really follow, so this recap follows the manga more to keep you back on track from where the story is actually supposed to be left off. I can understand why it was necessary for a recap episode of the manga since there are anime-only watchers. You can maybe give the first season a try just to understand the anime a little more, then later on watch this episode again, since the purpose of this recap episode is to make you fall back in track with the 'real' plot. |

| As a first-timer, watching this episode obviously confused me. But I did understand a few things... There's this boy named Jun Sakurada. One day he received a letter from Mr. Bunny regarding two choices, the choice of "Wind" and the choice of "Do Not Wind". Here he chose Wind and ends up with a doll named Shinku, who happens to be the 5th Rozen Maiden doll. There are seven Rozen Maiden dolls, each owning her own Rosa Mystica, and are competing in this thing called the Alice Game, where if one collects all the Rosa Mystica, they become Alice, the dream girl of their father. The seven, by order, are: Suigintou, Kanaria, Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, Shinku, Hina Ichigo, and Kirakishou. And two of them, Souseiseki and Hina Ichigo, already lost. There's also this Master-Servant thing that involves contracts and rings, but I don't understand that just yet. According to the synopsis, Jun will pick "Do Not Wind". I guess this is where the preview comes in. So the story starts in Episode 2. I've read most of this thread and I now know I have to read the first 7 or 8 volumes. So I'll be back. Random thoughts: I like the OST and the art. I like the OP. The ED is fine to me. |

| I can't remember the original first episode being this fast paced with all the dolls introduced already... This isn't bad, not bad at all! I just hope they didn't fit 26 episodes in 13! But damn it's good to see this show got a remake! Especially that all the original voice actors did all the roles superb again! Can't wait for the tons of ~Desu! A great start so lets see what's next! Loving the OP & ED! |

| 3/5 Bad ... bad! As he said, Don Abbondio: I'm marriage can not be done! As a fan of the series that I finished yesterday, I find this new series in the light of the first episode a real eyesore. The character design is not the first that I greatly appreciated the quality and graphics of the seabed and details, while being better than those of the past, are not so great, but that's not the problem! The plot is a super concentrate of the previous series, which is credited to explain some of the details in a more logical, but from my point of view it also brings a lot of confusion in understanding the final because there is no way to assimilate the mood of the protagonists. Narration over so fast I never saw, even the promo does not bring any benefit to those who follow the anime, what happens in the next episode? Mah! From my point of view this episode deserves at most a vote of 3/5 for graphics and animations, the rest is a disappointment, currently. |

| This episode felt like a recap of the first two season of the origibal Rozen Maiden series. Things were happening way too fast! We already lost Souseiseki and Hina Ichigo. Hina Ichigo was eaten by that other rozen maiden?! What the hell! The OP is okay and I ike the ED. Alright episode. |
| Wow that was waaaaaay too rushed. we already have 2 dolls who have had their rosa mysticas taken. Not a big fan of the new animation. Although it sorta reminded me of the WIXOSS series, as the artwork is a lot more gloomier than the original anime. What is with Kirakishou not having a physical body? And she ate HIna-Ichigo??? O_o |

| The episode being the manga abridged..? Desu. If I had to make a guess, I'm guessing that this is suppose to explain what Rozen Maiden is to new comers, as well as being time line A, and time line B will start in the next episode, since this is suppose to be based off of Rozen Maiden II from what I've heard about when it was being made (I might be a bit late on getting to it...). I find the new art style makes the dolls cuter this time, rather then a more gothic look like the original... which at first thought is a bit of a turn off, but makes sense when considering why the dolls were made in the first place. And am I the only one that noticed just how much shorter the dolls are now. It makes sense, but it still feels a bit jarring... |

| The CGI felt kinda off, but I really love the new art direction that they're now taking. This felt more like a chapter 0, just to kickstart the actual first chapter and give you even more context, which was appreciated. The thing that pissed me off a little is how useless Souseiseki felt 3/5 and a nice start for this new anime |

| This is supposed to be an alternative version, which if I understand correctly, it should be able to stand alone; yet if I hadn't watched the other version, I wouldn't have been able to understand what happened in this episode. |

| They really did the Rozen Maiden any% speedrun…. I assume this is supposed to be an alternate route to watch AFTER the main two seasons and OVA, because if I didn’t know the original story, I would have been so lost, lol. |

| wow that was painful. somebody very clearly watched Magicka Madoka and tried to turn Rozen Maiden into a clone of it while butchering both. just awful |
