Sakuuta is a spritual successor to Subahibi, it shares some similar themes (and references). Perfect implication of The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde, more utilization of poems by Emily Dickinson, "I dwell in possibility", really clever use of Miyazawa Kenji's Night on the Galactic Railroad, and many more. It's a continuation of the 幸福に生きよ introduced in Subahibi. In a way I feel like it is answering Ayana's monologue about the 'eternal happiness'. I think it's more ambitious than Subahibi, and it tells a more powerful story overall. Its take on art and how it critiques it is one my favorite things about Sakuuta that makes it a different beast than Subahibi.
Plot and structure wise, it's another SCAJI game. It's like SCAJi wrote some stuff and then somehow was magically made into sense and became relevant. Just like how Subahibi was structured, each part or route resonates on its own, but when combined, a beautiful harmony will be formed.

It truly is magnificent. Kamiya put in a very good work as director.
I don't really wish for a sequel as I think it already ends perfectly, but if they really going to make a sequel to this masterpiece, then why not, I'd love to see it. I hope we could go to the moon to explore more of the moon tribe and see Kaguya again.

I'm not fluent in Japanese or anything. I'm still pretty awful at it. But I suppose I've reached the level where reading and listening (mostly just listening, though) feels pretty natural to me. I've put hundreds of hours into visual novels, so that's where the vast majority of my practice has come from.
I hope you get to read Sakuuta someday.

Ōkami is the best thing in existence. Always glad to meet other people who appreciate this beautiful piece of art. And Subahibi + Sakuuta are works that have truly changed my perspective on things. I didn’t know eroge could be this beautiful.

Just read Subahibi instead. Cross Channel loses a lot in English with any translation.
