This was a really strong start, out of all the anime I've started from this season this one definitely had the best first episode. I wasn't expecting it to get gory so quick either.

Can't wait for the next episode ^^

Well, that ending certainly has me a little taken aback. Dopple Mio just straight up killed those three. Goddamn.

Also didn't expect this to be a Re:Zero-esque anime. But with what just transpired, I'm hooked.

I did not expect that development at the end. I felt unsettled while watching honestly hdjdnsjs - the visual aspect is very pretty, so the contrast of the eerie soundtrack stood out to me. But huh he went back in time??? Does Shinpei have an ability or something

That scene of Shinpei crying while holding the necklace + the flashback of him and Ushio as kids hit hard D: I kept thinking that Shinpei/Ushio is that 100% shippable and cute pairing but I can't do it anymore because 1/2 is dead

Also that OP? I will have to listen to the music again because I think I got hypnotized while trying to make sense of what I was watching haha, I found it unique

Ooooo a death loop anime. Feels very Higurashi inspired, but this was better than anything I got from Higurashi. That’s due to this having a budget, good direction, and a more cohesive plot from the looks of it. 25 episodes seems pretty long for a mystery anime w/ a death loop, but this episode has given me some faith that it can pull it off.

Too bad it felt like Higurashi in the end.
The thing with the shadows is interesting, unfortunately everyone was shot already.
The reset of time is a bit overused, this work doesn't feel very creative so far.
I hope it will be worth watching in the long run.

Definitely felt Higurashi+Umineko WhenTheyCry vibes, MC boy returned to his home in a remote village after 2 years, involved to a mysterious girl and and got involved in serial killings.

OP sounds like 2000-2010s OP like Erased. Production was good so far, hopefully they keep this up for the next episodes., interesting choices of direction, showing glitches effect when something is off or unnatural or on time leap

Time leap/travel and mystery up to my liking. Looking forward for more.

The fanservice... as always, a bit dissonant and so overdone that I don't think anyone finds those scenes even funny anymore. I almost lost my eyesight due to the massive rotational force I exerted on my eyeballs as I rolled them to the back of my head with that opening boat scene. I just hope it will not take away from an otherwise promising story.

Animation looked fantastic, characters -while tropey- are sympathetic enough and I think the themes were properly exposed and juxtaposed. Stories about dealing with loss are always a win in my book and if you mix in some mystery and mild supernatural they can only get better.

I LOVE your brilliant eyeroll description. Ha! Gave me a chuckle.

And I'm right there with you. I just see those scenes and think, "Why? Just... why?" I'm so stoked that we're getting more and more media with female characters being fully dimensional and shown first as actual people. But it sure does make crap like this stick out way more.

This show in particular, I do not get why you'd do that. It completely destroys the otherwise tense and mysterious tone. Even if you only want to look at that decision from a purely "writing as a craft" standpoint, it's bad. You distract from the story and the intrigue of what is actually happening. That's a shame.

The exploitative series of truly unfortunate choices aside, the rest of it was pretty interesting. The animation is solid and I personally really enjoyed the zoom-in map shots. Gave it a unique visual pacing and appeal. To me the dialogue is eh. The human interactions just aren't very punchy thus far. I actually think the hunter guy was one of the more interesting characters/moments (would frankly love to see more of him).

Could be me, but I also am bummed out this series isn't from the lady in the glasses POV. She seems much more unique and engaging than our MC. The MC so far isn't bad, he's just very generic. Is it me? Or do most shows with this kind of flavor to them always seem to focus on a very similar guy. I'd love to see a show like this shake things up by following someone really different for a change.

Totes agree with you, also, Animaticide, about stories of loss + mystery and supernatural = winning combo.

Ahh, this is so unsettling! It gives me Higurashi vibes (I am reading the VN at chapter 2) with the tiny village setting and the curse, but without the slice of life start. The return from death mechanic like Re:zero may settle the basis for a "trial and error" storyline.

This immediately reminds me of Higurashi/Umineko no Naku Koro ni with itst premise. It seems he may have the "reading steiner" from Steins;Gate too. I'm in for the ride.
Have a healthy, happy, day of hilarity!

Also has some re zero thing goin on pretty interesting and nice there are some bits of fanservice for me personally fan service in this kind of show usually made my experience more fun

The way it started off felt like it would be some going with the flow slice of life but the sudden mystery theme that they added made it super interesting.

When they said someone strangled Ushio, I thought when she went to save Shiori, Shiori must have strangled her to death. And that it was probably the reason she disappeared with her whole family. The whole shadow thing was a shock and that it has been going on in the island for ages is quite strange. They call it a shadow but it looks more like a clone or doppelganger like Shinpei said.

Everyone getting shot like that was fun to watch. But the way it ended was confusing, was it all a dream or a flashback of the future...?

It's 2 cour so I just hope the plot doesn't go downhill in the second core.

I decided to start watching it with a friend of mine, was pleasantly surprised by the first episode... no spoilers, but the ending is what really gets you hooked for more. I mean, we watched the trailer and knew there was something unexpected coming, but that was the excitement to wait for. Now, I know people have been comparing it to Re:Zero in ways, but has anyone else gotten a Noein vibe from it?

WHAT THE FUCK and HOLY SHIT. This was one of the greatest first episodes I've ever watched, this legit had me hooked from the start. The sense of mystery and the omnious feeling and the feeling like we don't know something, idk man this was just too good.

The whole objective was already introduced to us in a really good manner, everything that needs to be done now, the goal is set. The MC here has return to death ability just like Subaru.

I've to say the cinematography was amazing, they way everything happened was just top notch. I'm a little late to this but this is my new favorite of this season, gonna breeze through the 4 episodes now and then will painfully wait for new ones every week.

I generally watch SoL and romcoms but man this one caught my eye, it's solely because of how everything was done and presented.

Is Shinpie going to go through Subaru's or is he gonna be safe from all the pain and trauma? Can't wait to find out, the concept screams suffering but let's see.

Face boobs and a panty shot already. Am skeptical of this one.

One thing I can appreciate is that the characters grief over Ushio's death is very real.

This anime definitely gives off a vibe that something is not quite right. I like it.

Shadow sickness? Well that sounds pretty creepy.

Oh fug. Didn't think we'd see the clones this early.

WTF THEY'RE DEAD- oh wait it's a time loop. Re:Zero 2 electric boogaloo.

Damn this episode popped off. Really promising start aside from the fanservice. Only thing I'm worried about is that this anime will play all its cards too early and the mystery will be gone. That said, waiting a week for each episode is going to be especially painful if this keeps up.

First episode, and it's very promising so far. The parallels to Higurashi are inescapable, but I'm actually glad to be able to watch something along the same lines. Hmm... even the pointless pervy humor (did we really need to see the hero's almost-sister's panties?) is just like Higurashi.

I was picking up a lot of stuff for Summer 2022 and then noticed this was two-cour. So I figured I'd go ahead pick this up too. Hopefully I should be caught up by tomorrow.

Well, anything that starts with a face full of boobs has promise in my book.

The food looked really good in this too, I could go for one of those pork cutlets.

What the fuck just happened? It seemed like this series was struggling to get on its feet the whole episode, and then shit just went off the rails in the last 15 seconds. ಠ_ಠ
