I WAS FUCKING HERE

EVEN WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS THAT ACTUALLY BLEW MY MIND. Genuinely think this is best episode of the series. I'm still shaking that was insane. The ost, the animation, the voice acting man everything was great.

I think they got WIT to do some of the backgrounds and modified their collosal cg cuz it looked amazing. FUCKING WELL DONE.

Same brotha, mad hype here even though I was holding myself and trying not to. I love the hand drawn titan frames and scenario.

The only flaw in this episode is the 3 min recap when there is still a lot of stuff ahead.
i think the recap was there so that it the episode would end at that scene. Really nice way to end the episode man.

the walls breaking down was absolutely terrying. seeing the ground shaking while millions of collosals are just walking in the background. not to mention fucking eren.

Okay so this is what i think i understand about ymir

The titan power ymir is given represents the ultimate strength. Now lets just imagine snk universe has divinities because that magical spine didn't come from nowhere. Ymir is a feeble and frail girl but still altruistic and selfless. The gods seeing how she was chased to death thought "she is good and doesn't deserve to be a slave and die like this but she is too weak so we shall grant her the greatest strength for her to live freely" and so in the lake the shinning spine gives her the titan powers. But even after receiving this power she keeps serving as a slave. even if she has to do the worst possible things for her master. After some years of serving she is disgusted with herself and what she has done doesn't want to live anymore and dies protecting her master maybe thinking that only death will free her. Only to realise that after death she is now slave of her own power as if she is punished for not using it for herself and her freedom she will for eternity serve the titan power to those who makes use of it. Thats why eren managed to convince her to give him her powers. Because she actually desperately wanted to be free but was too good for her own good literally. Eren him doesn't give a f and tells her that he will end the world and she will never have to be a slave ever again for anyone. By giving her power to eren she chooses herself before others for the first time ever because he will supposedly give her her freedom by killing every possible ennemis to eldians so that theres never ever a need to use titan power again.

Ymir’s past will always get me

Her kindness was immense. The world didn’t deserve her.

I started sobbing when Eren told her that she’s been waiting for 2000 years for someone.

As a manga reader, I’ve been waiting for this chapter to be animated. The wait was worth it.

It was just the recap from the first quarter and people in the comments are so observant about the blood effect like wtf it's a 5 second effect what's the big lmao, gonna hate MAPPA for this or something xD? Anyways I've heard on twitter that Kaji almost lost his voice and that Eren screaming for breaking free really was shown the amount of dedication he has put in voice acting Eren for the past 9 years. I miss Historia and glad to see a small segment of her ;) Ymir's backstory is one of the most tragic things to get adapted: The blame towards Ymir for letting the pigs out make sense just looking at her case right here, she's being treated as a slave and she wants freedom, so freeing the pigs is one way for them to not get butchered, but unfortunately Ymir did get butchered in the end, King Fritz is just too cruel to punish her and my my that tunnel looks so real when Ymir fell xD. but that's where history has shown in the course of Shingeki No Kyojin, she has created the 2000 year technology which has caused burden to millions of humanity.

I still find it overwhelming that Ymir is literally helping King Fritz to destroy the marley and other task but no one, even King Fritz didn't treat her in any kindness even if she's getting killed out of the nowhere but fucked up health care during that era and the unfairness King Fritz has brought up to these slaves and it's quite unfortunate that they didn't animate the butchered part from the aftermath of Ymir's death but that's unsettling for most viewers on the other hand. I just notied when King Fritz is making his statement, in syncs up pretty well when Eren confronted Ymir. The Rumbling has started and my I felt like it was a long time ago that I saw Eren transformed into a new titan form. Mikasa and the rest of the group were in shock too, I legit teared up when Mikasa and Armin was looking at Eren's transformation, he even brought up a statement that indicates he's going to commit genocide in the world and destroy the world in its entirety. Overall, just wonderful, I don't think I'm mentally prepared to not cry in every episode ;(

Holy shit, that was just awesome.

As much as my wife hated this arc, she was impressed on how the anime ironed out this chapter as she claims that the manga had this one too confusing to follow with weird paneling and flow.

As the anime-only viewer between us two, I just can't seem to find any faults in this one as it's really well-made. Framing, composition, pacing - everything. Everyhting flowed well and it's easy to understand. This might not be as strong as Omine's episode but this still never failed to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Kudos to the animators and staff who got involved with this. Having Big O's director working with S4P2 is a godsend as evident in this current episode.

Those with dirty minds will find my Steam pic offensive

So this is where we finally get to see the beginning of Colosal Titan stampede squashing the millions and billions.

Yimir was indeed such a tragic character and I wonder why she was sticking with that bastard despite receiving the God like power. All king did was to make his slaves and make her suffer immeasurably. She was feed to her daughter as well after saving him from spear. So those 3 were the daughter behind the name of 3 wall. Amusingly, the whole AOT begin because she released some 🐷 so I guess 🐖 is the real MVP of this episode and the one who started the story😂. In the meantime Yuki Kaji phenomenal voice acting which was just at another level. That screaming must have given him lot of pain and he did say that. His voice acting throughout the whole AOT is impressive and has been performing extraordinarily in every episodes. Poor Zeke discarded despite being royal and seems like Yimir is indeed looking for a freedom and Eren know what is best for business to convince her to snatch founding power. Mikasa plea to Eren was heart wrenching. We finally get to see that big ass Hallucigenia(Centipede) in anime. Now let the rumbling begin and commence the mass genocide of millions people and start the countdown for next episodes.

How do i even start this...

I will start with this image, the face of 2022! This face shows you that a gigantic force is about to be unleashed.

To be more precise a 2000-year-old one!
So Eren did the impossible basically, what a GOD, can we normalize calling Eren a god now? I mean that's more than clear now.
I still can't believe that it all just started, the long waited rumbling! Boy, these next episodes will be more than epic. Especially now that Eren got his last power up! lmao

Also, we got explained the somewhat origin of the titans and how Ymir acquired the power, the thing is she still got used. Also, everyone in her time looked so dead inside.
Almost forgot, the whole teleportation of all Eldians into that world was such a great moment! He just invoked them, damn!!!

Of course, i can't wait for next week, this just got so insane!

Probably one of the best AOT episodes to date, so it was some sort of parasite that came into contact with Ymir, that brought on the transformation, interesting. And what the hell did Eren turn into?....

So Eren's big plan is to commit genocide lol, alrighty then. Interesting developments....

I can't believe I am saying this but they did this waaaaay better than the manga. They slowed down the pacing, and made the scenes a lot more clearer, while also making it faithful to the original story.

Based on the foreshadowing on this episode and the last one, I am guessing they are not changing the bad ending. I hope they at least make the ending worth it, and feel earned.

I thought I had started finding Kaji Yuuki boring, but he did a fantastic job here. lol. This episode, he was not a voice actor playing a role. He was Eren himself!

I love the way they slowed down Ymir's transformation and the walls crumbling and Eren's transformation too. And, how they added the information on the spine-like thingy.

We saw a bit of Historia again. I hope she is more useful than her manga counterpart. She was amazing when she stood up against her dad or when she fought for her Ymir. Right now, she has little to no importance!

There're somethings I am not getting. Why are there only 9 titan shifters? If 1 shifter turned into 3, and those 3 turned into 9, then why can't that turn into more?
Also, why was Eren waiting for Zeke and going through all that trouble when he could have just done all he wanted with Historia? Much less of a hassle! I know he said he was worried they might make him eat Historia, but then he learnt it was not necessary, so that argument is no longer applicable! lol

Insane episode, although I have read the manga, I am intensely watching this as if its my first time. It was very unfortunate, sad, and mad learning Ymir's history. She began as a slave, finished as a slave, couldn't get out of slave chain even after her death, I guess at least Eren kind of saved her for telling her that its okay to choose however she feels like.

Going into the animation of this episode..? Hmmm... felt very cheap episode I am not gonna lie. Like there's multiple scene where I felt that, but Eren's running scene in path... is just something different. I think thats all I need to say for the animation before MAPPA's image goes down.

One of the episodes for I was very excited to see because of the history of Ymir and the origins of titans, and one of the most important parts of the manga, but MAPPA didn't really do their best to animated it in the best way.

A lot of problems with this episode like animation and direction, even with the music, it didn't really made me feel any emotions during all the time like the last episode was that even left me excited and wanting for know more. I think there was a lack of emotion to tell Ymir's story, because by the time the walls were breaking down I wasn't excited at all.

So sad to come and say this, but this is a 4/10 to me. :,(

I feel like this is a bit of a letdown, and might be the beginning of a downturn in the anime (anime-only btw):

The last few episodes were pretty fast-paced and ambitious, and to resolve a lot of possible plot holes, they streamlined everything this episode. I think the titan bug thing seems quite unoriginal, and I thought that Isayama would make the origins of Titans a bit more sinister (not the spread of titan powers to Ymir’s descendants mind you, that was fine). It’s almost like, “I waited 80 episodes for this?”

My biggest issue, however, is with Eren’s nonsensical genocide plan. “1% of the entire global population hates us, so let’s wipe out that AND the other 98% that doesn’t give a damn”. This is just really cheesy, everyone can see that he is the bad guy now, no one would root for his victory unless it was simply out of personal attachment. Eren’s big ole plan that has been hyped for the past episode is really your ordinary destroy the world out of self-desire villain master plan that we’ve seen in media countless times; sure, he cares about his people, but wouldn’t it be far more logical just to destroy Marley and its allies?

AOT could have been a lot better, and the buildup for the past two half-seasons was pretty phenomenal. But it seems to have regressed a bit, I don’t feel good about tempering expectations because I know that Isayama could have done better, and for him to take AOT in this direction is baffling.

No complaints about MAPPA’s adaptation though, they’re basically doing the best they can at the moment.

A solid 5/10 for this episode, whole lotta style but the substance was lacking.

What a fucking amazing episode. The rumbling begins.

Very interesting that they would give the intermission picture a meaning. Illegal subs named it Root of all Titans, while CR named it Origin of all Titans. Very interesting. I am inclined to believe it is some alien spinal cord shit.

Eren's final form (or is it eren and zeke's combination?) is the most horrifying thing I have seen. Can't wait to see his tiny face. Ymir's story is kind of good, kind of hard to believe. Imagine being a slave for 2k years and Eren was the only one of the timeless cycle who actually knew how to snap her.

My only complaint was the music during the rumbling. Could've picked another tune from season 1.

But I do love these back story scenes where it all started and gave people answers that we've been waiting for well for the anime only peeps at least, This did give me some insights how did that happen how Ymir got her powers how it all started oh the wall was named after the three daughters of Ymir

And don't even think about it ends because after that the Awakening happened or should I say The Rumbling did.
