That said, i'm happy they kept the slave trader scene with Raphtalia getting her seal back and the slave trade telling Naofumi what Raphtalias current worth is. Thought it was a funny/cute scene. Episode was a bit rushed but I think they still covered two chapters which is their normal pace. They added some anime-only comment which took up time and some things were out of order. I think next episode he will still go back to the slave trader with Filo because I saw that scene in one of the PV's before the anime released. |

| Unpopular opinion here: did the show really need a cute loli that keeps calling the MC "goshujin"? It seems out tone for the show and kind of grosses me out. Hope she'll grow up and change her "personality" like Raphtalia did, but, frankly, why would they add a character like that to then immediately turn her into an adult? They're probably gonna milk this cow (chicken?) for the rest of the series. |

| Not a fan of the sudden tone change but even worse, I really disliked that race. Mediocre visuals of them trying to hide cgi behind smoke/dust and near pointless zoomed out shots of exploding impacts. It's not like they're actually doing battle while racing. Doesn't help it's the exact same theme from the previous episode but now just turned comedy. |
| The last scene saved this episode, seriously. Writing is terrible. Last week's episode was cringeworthy, this one wasn't better at all. I don't know who though that comedy taken straight from child cartoons (especially the way how antagonists are portrayed) would work here. It's almost pokemon tier garbage. I'm not dropping it yet, but I expected something much better by Kinema Citrus. |

| I see what they did there, they rushed alot Filo's growth, in the LN you go along each of those growth supports, with this said, if they had done like in the LN, people would have complained that maybe it dragged too much for an anime, so I see why they did it. On the LN you are more aware of all the growth spurts, some more scenes also, and in the end, they abandon the dragon "horse", and the villagers take care of him. Also Filo turn into human form only happens already inside the city again, with the slave trader, and alot of info also being told, which I guess that will happen next episode. Things anime onlies should know that wasnt mentionated, Filo can swift forms, she is special, so you will see both her human form, and queen filiolal form (she is a special kind of Filolial), filioals LOVE to pull stuff, so pulling that cartridge is like pleasure for her. Raphtalia insisted quite alot to have the seal on her again, so Naofumi could feel more at ease, he already believed in her, but she wanted to keep some sort of proof that would further support her resolve and will to this cause, which is why she had the seal slave done again. BOTH filolials and slaves ARENT supposed to grown this fast, it is due to Naofumi abilities and being the Shield Hero, but also him having that Slave Shield that was quickly mentionated that lets him increase the maturity of his slaves growth. Also by this point is clear that the anime is trying to adapt past what is currently going on in the manga, chapter 50 of the manga ends around 75-80% of LN volume 6, so my bet is that they will try to cram the first 7 LN volumes in 24 episodes, they can do 8, for that, they had to do 9th too, and 9 volumes would be a bit too much, while this series may benefit from rushing the pacing abit, it cant do it too much, it gotta prefer the feeling of the growth in status/skills, knowledge and people Naofumi cames across. weaboo_ninja said: The anime took a turn for the worse with this episode. That is a really ignorant comment... guys dont read the web novel, people that have read both, say the LN is better written. What the LN did was expand alot, the content that there was solely on the WN, you may say it fatted the plot alot, but also adding improvements. Maybe the WN is more dark since it only adapts the most dramatic stuff, BUT you will be getting better value out of the LN, since there is more development leading to all of those events. Besides if the plot was serious all the time, there wouldnt be any part to help you relax and chill a bit, which is what this episode did. | Was really hyped up for this anime by watching the trailers leading up to it being released. But so far this has been the most disappointing anime this season imo. We got raphtalia the typical "im gonna praise you and not have a mind of my own" heroine, like asuka. That will only make eboys scream "WAIFU" and get them horny. And now we got a loli for that same reason. The action hasn't even been good either, this anime has sucked so much. Pair that up with the bitch with red hair that only screws up the MC. So far this anime has only pissed me off thus far. |
| Look at all these people dropping like there's a plague because it's tiny bit tropey. That said, this episode differs from the novel quite a lot. Not that there is a problem this time since there isn't anything important going on. Unlike Raphtalia, which has some crucial monologues they skipped. (Yes, I'm still salty on this) I am really surprised by Itsuki and Kirito's responses as they were acting normal instead of a dumbass in the novel. Maybe that really happened in the novel and I don't remember. And that kick, I was expecting this to be as painful as possible instead of a comedic type. Nevertheless, I like it. That was awesome. I can't help but replacing this line with Makina's voice from Grisaia. XD I just finished that series and her voice is stuck in my head. |

| Good episode. The way Raphtalia followed Naofumi was so adorable. <3 A little sad they rushed Filo/Firo(The WN has it translated as Firo) development. It's understandable that they wanted to speed it up just like they did with Raphtalia but in the original stories you follow along how Firo grows up so fast and potentially why. I do personally prefer that cause it adds a lot more depth to the relationship between the characters but I suppose it wasnt bad. The race was cool, that actually wasn't in the WN but it was nice to see. Ah, that satisfying Filo kick. Wish it had some real sakuga though. XD <3 I loved the scene where Naofumi helped Raphtalia lie down. That was so cute. Filo transformation so early? I suppose it's not a bad thing. Questions to LN/Manga readers, was this episode faithful? The WN is almost completely different here. They're both good in their own right, I've heard some people claim the WN is better and others claim the LN is better. I've only read the WN and since the anime is based of the LN, I think Naofumi generally comes of as a lot more bitter in the WN, he of course gradually gets better but his bitterness generally stays with him to an extent which kinda makes him a little more unique. I don't really see that as much here or maybe the anime is just skipping over it. |
