Amazing episode (as always for the whole series). I teared up during the Takahashi scenes in this episode because his situation reminds me of one of my irl close friends.

Easy 10/10 for me. This anime is just beautiful in every aspect and I'm so glad to have watched it.

Very nice last episode. This season has way better than the last. One of the things I really liked was how Kyoku only appeared in one episode. She was one of the few reasons I hated watching the show. But the highlight of the season was definitely the bullying arc. It really shocked how realstic it was and was resolved quite satisfyingly. I also really loved the storm arc since I always wanted to know more about Souya Meijin.

8.5/10 I really hope a third season comes eventually

Oh my, how sweet this series was! I can't stop watching this for a whole day by day, and never forget every scene there. This series surely be a masterpiece, no doubt for me. Im glad all of their life problem got resolved with something sweet as sugar! I really like how the story flowing like the real river in the world. It twisting, swirling so fast make me puke, fallen to the lowest of the abyss, and be refreshen in no time when the light comes as a savuor!

I love with their POV changing too, for the sake of amazing story development its attach with nice way. The transition, their time suit so well for plot purpose! I always got enjoyed not only by MC story telling detail there. Even their side character had an excellent movement. Even their devil character, the antagonist one, they are appeared in an impresive way to say, "Hey, im here to make the story better. So keep watching, you will enjoy it in every second you see!" Thats its, Sangatsu series surely capacitate their main ideas to be the best for Drama, Game Shogi, SoL types of shows. My only hope to see another continuations, as always. This masterpiece, never ended like that, i dont get enough result of how Rei life in the future. Hina, and Akari too, where their life began at the future? How about Kyokou 'diffirent age love'? Im kinda intrigueing about all of that.

When i writing this, i never had any chance to see other resource story material like Manga, or LN. So i will expected another season, 3 or 4 year in the future. Well, not much expectations, jush my average expectations at all(poke smile). Right, even if i know their resource story just finished already, and this anime never got a chance for other season, im not sad. This is always be my best, no matter what. And im really be proud to watch this. Rei, and Kawamoto sisters, good job! Sangatsu universe, great performance! See you again, when the time has come!

I have never been so affected by anything before, as I was while watching the segment about his "other home" with his stepmother. The nostalgic feeling it brought me. It hit so hard.

I saw myself in there and I cried from start to end. It made me understand myself a bit better and helped me mourn my own childhood that never really was.
I grew up with in a home where I always tried my hardest not to bother them, distancing myself, because of that never feeling like I was a part of that family. I still feel that way to this day, every time I go visit or talk with them. There's no hard feelings between us, I love them and they love me, but the feeling of being a bother and a stranger remain. We're very polite and formal toward each other. Feeling like this for so many years (I was very young when I moved in with my father and his new family), I'd grown kinda used and numb to it. But it's a sad thing and this episode made me feel that.

The old dog as well. We had one when I grew up and I loved him so much. We were inseparable. He died a few years back and I was living halfway across the country then, missing my chance to say goodbye.

And the scene were Rei was a real part of the family. Such a touching dream.

I'm so glad a lot of people seems to like this episode. The entire show is a masterpiece.

This show has taught me a lot of things, it is one of the best anime i have ever seen in terms of storytelling, characters, art, music it's just so amazing. Hopefully season 3 will come soon but, either way I will probably start reading the manga.

Anyway, that was a good ending and ngl Kiriyama is right the hair does fit Hina.

Can't wait for season 3 whenever it comes don't disappoint us Shaft.

Since nobody in this thread praised the show and are just commenting about the episode, ill do this favor:

Eh, good.

Ok, now i can talk about the episode:

- Really cruel the cold behavior of the "wife of Rei's foster father".

She is still reliefed for the depart of Rei and is not feeling a single compassion for the orphan kid she should have raised like a son. Or remorse for what she did.

Not a surprise that her daughter become a bitch.

Kawamoto family really saved him from this toxic foster family.

---

And Hina x Takahashi...

Lets be real here: Rei was a master coc*block.

The goodbye was a perfect moment for Hina declare helself to Taka-kun. But Rei was there.

And Rei almost realized to himself that he cares about Hina near of what is open love. The only thing left is assume tgat she is not a child anymore.

What depends of her. Because she was portraied to be very childsh even for her 14yo age, but looks like in JP the transition from middle to HS is a huge transformation to teenagers there.

---

And Kawamoto aunt, wtf.

She owns a bar and is used with pervert men, maybe it explain why she thinks every boy is a rapist, or every young couple alone are willing for wild sex. Come on.

Btw, great series, but i'm just holding 1 point before 10 because i had to skip some parts that was not doing MAGIC about turning a naturally boring game in something exciting.

If was not this magic, plus the kawamoto side plot, i would have dropped this series because i really donylt like this "sport-table-game" theme, like Hikaru no Go. But it is me.

I like how they also show the adoptive mother’s perspective on Rei being part of their family. It was so touching and at the same time I really felt bad for Rei.

Hina’s haircut makes her look like Momo haha. And Rei’s reaction is priceless, I’m not sure if he really likes it or he’s just being courteous lol.

I can’t wait for the next season (I really hope there is). And I can smell romance in the air ❤️

Really, really a good watch after getting a lot of depression from real life. Episode after Hina arc was really heartwarming to watch, and everything was really perfect except I don't really understand the shogi part. But that doesn't bother me at all, and I do love every aspect from this show.

Simply one of the best things have come to my life.

Great conclusion for the great anime. Rei's reaction to Hina's haircut though, you can't if he's being honest or not xD

Guys... you have no idea.

My kamisama, why are the Japanese producers sleeping on that? Studio Shaft? Hello!?

The 3rd season of 3gatsu is something to blow up the anime fans to the very outer space of HYPE.

FMAb, AoT and Gintama would lose the track.

The end.
I could talk about so much I loved about this show, but instead I'll just stick to one thing that stuck out to me. Rei after this episode probably has my favorite arc, and thats because I didn't even notice it until now. I completely forgot how gloomy and depressed he was at the start because of how comfortable the show made me with his more at-ease character. I only remembered it because of my new favorite scene in the show, his talk with his mom. Rei matured so much not only because of those around him but because of his own growth, and this episode specifically pinpointed this growth. Fantastic end to a fantastic series. Hesitant to rate it a 10 just after finishing but I could definitely raise my rating in the future.
5/5 episode
9/10 for second season
9/10 for the series overall

For a series finale, didn't happen much.

Rei visit his previous adoptive family and his adoptive mother reminds times when he was with them... Well, you can't expect your kids not be hurt and discouraged when your husband favores foreign child over his own.

That baseball player from Hina's school graduates. Yet another thing is going to change.

Hina's new haircut, lol. She looks like Mako from "Kill la Kill" XD . Not sure if Rei really liked it, or he just tried to be nice.

Nice series overall, I hope there will be another season.

Well.. Rei is really not your usual teen.. So it's no reason to compare with him, really.. He is a national prodigy with bright future in shougi.. He works, lives on his own, goes to school.. All by himself.. So it's no reason to compare with him anyone, really, I'd say..
Well, yeah.. Who knows, how Rei would be under different circumstances.. If he'd just be part of Kouda family.. Now he really is who he is.. Because he grew up in this constant stress of needing to develop himself all the time..
And the last dinner, walk, talks together..
Well, too much symmetry makes this hairstyle suck.. She just needs some random additional cuts here and there, really..
And Rei has no taste, lol.. ;D Well, half-joking, of course.. I think that hairstyle could be ok, just add couple of cuts..

The Other House bonus chapter is a masterfully and beautifully done piece that was really impactful, probably my favorite chapter this season sitting beside Silver Wings, Black Mist, and Burnt Field. Such chapters leave me with the feeling that this show would easily be a 10/10 for me if it leaned more towards it's psychological aspects and less of it's SOL, but of course, that's personal preference.

Critically viewed, there's little to nothing that brings this season down unlike season 1. While SOL's tend to not pull me in as well as other genres, it was really enjoyable all the way through with plenty of masterful chapters sprinkled in as mentioned in the above paragraph.

This season definitely stands out on it's own to justify his weighted score quite nicely.

9/10 for Season 2 and 8/10 for Season 1

Oh boy, take a bow. What an incredible season. Emotionally brilliant, engaging monologues, Shaft's incredible unique directing, the characters fleshed out extremely well, their development throughout the series, just 10/10. Straight onto my favourites.

I pray for a 3rd season.

Quite a beautiful anime. It had some pretty slow and boring parts now and then though. Overall a really good 8/10 I hope for a 3rd season in the future. It's a bit sad that we didn't saw Rei's sister very much in this season, I hoped she can redeem herself and finally make up with him. But I guess this will happen in the future at some point.

When I'm off to writing a blog like that, you know I was quite mesmerised by the show. Fast forward four years, and I'm in the exact same position! Everything about this season just screamed perfect.

First half's representation of the adoptive mother's feelings coupled with the stellar direction, use of imagery and Shaft's visual followed by the sad but uplifting theme in the other half, basically everything this series touches turns to gold. Imagine being able to introduce a random character out of the blue and managing to take the breath away from the viewers, that's serious stuff!

Since I've read past this point, I know exactly what's to come in a potential Season 3 and tell you what? I'd die to have Shaft take in charge for that!

Absolutely exemplary. A beautiful work of art.
I don't want to ruin the good vibes going on in here, even though no one will probably stumble across my post here any time soon. Still, I don't want to be that guy that sticks out like a sore thumb and brings down the mood; so I'll keep this shrunk down to be near-invisible, and if you chose to blow this up and read what this said, the only thing to blame would be your own curiosity. Now with that out of the way:

I wasn't lying when I said I thought this was good. I mean, it clearly is beautiful. I just still don't hold it in as high as a regard as most others who have brought this to be the 14th highest-rated anime on MAL with 9/10's and 10/10's. Hopefully the odd soul that reads this understands that it's not that I don't like it, but rather like it less than the majority who like this much, much more.

I'm actually so glad I'm over and done with this show. I legit felt bored multiple times throughout, this would've felt like a total slog if not for its brilliant art direction. There are some strong emotional beats scattered here and there, you can't deny that. But other than these moments, I was kind of happy whenever an episode ended. Whenever there was narration, which there was a lot of, it felt like it went on forever. I appreciate how pretty much every character is so well-fleshed-out, but to be honest, it was on the border of making me zone out sometimes. On an enjoyment scale, it's been like a 5/10, maybe a 6/10 for me. But I'll be giving it a 7/10 just to be fair and to acknowledge its strengths (not a 10/10, f*ck no, I just put that below to make any die-hard fans happy, because I don't want to have to deal with that)

Damn, thinking about it more, I think I actually prefer season one. For one, I loved Bump of Chicken's OP and ED far more than anything after it. And 2nd, I like how that season wrapped up quite a bit more than this one, which is just Hina going to high school, hinting at a possible 3rd season (it's been awhile, I don't know if that will ever be a thing, I don't know the manga status, if there's a lot or maybe even not enough to make a 3rd season out of), and not wrapping it up in as neat a bow imo as season one did.

And the humour was very hit or miss for me. Made the whole thing feel like merely a slightly-above-average slice of life. Idk man, despite it's beautiful water-color-esque exterior, it's been kind of meh for me. I'll still stick by giving it a 7/10 for all its strengths like its great character writing; but otherwise, I'm glad this is over now. Not that it was HARD to watch by any means, but I did find myself constantly checking how much more of each episode was left every time.

10/10

"let's meet again, bye bye" :')

man i'm gonna miss this anime so much. it has been 5 years now since season 2 came out. i was absolutely in love with this anime since first half of season 1 and season 2 just made my love even deeper. this was just perfect. a perfect anime. so wholesome, heartwarming and powerful. it was like a medicine for me. the kawamoto family scenes are the medicines for me. absolutely delighted that i got to watch such an amazing anime. it had important lessons in it too if one looked for them or needed them. the developments of the characters was so good, even side characters were explored so well. i've really come to love our mc too, makes you feel like he deserves everything he ever wants.

the animation was absolutely lovely, so were the music choices for bg and credits. funny, captivating, emotional and most of all huge dopamine source. i felt calm and peaceful while watching it most of the time. during shimada's title match i was able to put myself in his shoes and feel his pain. this anime showed stoicism in a wonderful way, no matter what you carry out your duties and don't let your situation hold you back. with shimada, especially nikaido and the eternal maestro jiji too. at the start i didn't really like nikaido but as the series progressed i came to really like him, he was the hardest of workers, he was too strong- god had to nerf him.

we saw developments of many characters but i loved the most of our mc, he has come such a long way and it made me so happy to see him how he is currently. it is all thanks to that one incident, passed out rei on the street somewhere, who would have thought that one little help would end up having such a great impact on the lives of the savior and the saved. really loved the relationship between hina and rei, it is so pure and wholesome. before starting this anime i finsihed NHK and both animes showed us just how important human relationships are, they can help you when you're in a problem and they can also help you become a better version of yourself when you start doing something for not just the sake of yourself but someone else too. this is evident from how rei started working even harder and started being more careful in matches. rei went to great lengths to help the kawamoto family out of obligation or other feelings like guilt of freeloading but you could tell whatever he did he did out of pure kindness and the thought of actually wanting to be of help. his help during the whole bullying arc till the exam arc was so great.

so much is yet to happen. hina does look cute in her new haircut though. i want to see how hina fits in with the new school and new club and finally rei is in B2 as well so he can play with his foster dad again and so much more. i wonder why they didn't continue creating seasons. these 2 seasons are way too passionately made to just be some advertisement for manga. idk what's up with shaft, they have been dropping great series whch they put a lot of work in. did they ever do a complete adaptation of any manga?

i really didn't want this to end. i just want to keep watching this, episode after episode. i binged both the seasons in less than 3 days i really didn't want this to end. so happy that i found such a great anime and this has entered my top 10 too. i really need more of this, i will maybe check out its manga but i'm a little hesistant in case a sequel is announced. i'm also holding off on reading chihayafuru for the same reason. lets see.

100/10. A MUST WATCH AND THE BEST THING IS IT IS FAMILY FREIDNLY TOO!!!!! Gonna show this to my parents the next time i'm home.
