Well, wow. Great ending to a amazing anime, in fact.. one of the most satisfy'n endings to a anime i've seen in a long time. Chihiro breaks her chains and remembers. Hiro and Miya. Kei gets over it. The art and animation for this show was off the charts, amazing. I loved Chihiros and Renjis story, however, Hiro's story was practically just like any other anime i've watched, except less happened, i could probably summarize his entire story in a few sentences.

8/10.

The best episode in the whole series made me cry tears of joy when chihiro reveals she has not forgotten about renji and they embrace. It wrapped up everything quite nicely and completely satisfied me not feeling like it needed more. This anime is simply a master piece nothing else can really compare to it that i've seen so far. Not sure how i'll be able to watch other animes now. My new favorite anime series

This has to be one of my favorite animes. The ending was by far one of the best I have ever seen. Without a single thought, this anime deserves a 10/10.

Oh, and I am glad Kei wasn't such a jerk in the end. And that her and Hiro stayed friend.:)

Nice show
Renji x Chihiro was the best part of the story
Hiro x Myako part had some flaws but it was also very nice at the end

720p = 1280x720 resolution. Blu Ray is 1920x1080. The 720p version is a rip from the blu ray version which still has great quality. So yes and no.

I found some parts of the anime way too forced and cliché, but the ending was smooth and happy. It was nice. 8/10.

Been meaning to finish this after I stopped after the 6th episode. This is one of those things where you either have to watch it all at once, or stop midway and come back to later when you're in the mood personally.

I wasn't expecting them to be together at the end though, was quite a surprise (don't know why I was expecting a suicide from chihiro though).

Some of the angst in this show was a bit over the top. Regardless, it still manages to remain epic.

10/10, not because its perfect in every way (nothing is) but because I just enjoyed it that much. And I actually care for the characters, something that many other series can't seem to pull off too well.

I was so scared that Renji and Chihiro won't work out, but it did! =D

I'd say it was perfection. The perfect ending.

For now, since i'm all mind-boggled about it, I give it a 10. It indeed is a 10 for its genre. But I can say that it's nothing less than a 9. =)

This anime really surprised me, it didnt grip me in three episodes as most do, I almost dropped it if you can believe that.

But I held on and boy am I glad I did, the conclusion was fairly conclusive and Im happy with the ending. This managed to score a ten out of me for having the inate ability for making me want to shed manly tears. Only Kanon has actually succeeded but this came close on more occassions.

I am happy to have watched it and I'll probably get round to the next series in the next day or say.

Beautiful ending! The part where Renji was looking for the lost memories finally made my eyes watery. And I was happy that she did not forget about their relationship. But did she regain her memories? That part where the chains broke, it it not signify that she would be able to remember?

Anyway the other two stories where also great, but not as beautiful as Chihiro's.

There are still a few questions left unanswered, who is the girl with the hat and what did Chihiro's guarding been waiting for?

I'm pretty sure anyone would have to interpret that as her memory defect going away. The chain had represented her 13 hour memory span and of course we all saw it shatter to pieces in the end.

I'm sorta afraid to watch the sequel just because it has some pretty high standards to live up to after this awesome story.

One of the best romance series that actually contains substantial philosophical, existentialism and mildly psychological themes. The first 5 episodes are real slow and boring, if you decided to drop this at least last until episode 6. I actually watched an episode of this a few years back but it was real boring so I dropped it. How I regret that now. After the 5th episode it was really great, and it was smart to use the standard psychological / philosophical narrative style to get the feel( White backgrounds and black words ).

I see that some people who watched the series missed out on the philosophical / psychological elements of the story. Introspective individuals will most definitely find this interesting.
Doubt Doubt.

Overall a good series. There were some truly epic moments, but also some bizarre ones that felt forced.
Splendid animation though, and for the most part I liked all the characters. I'll probably watch Melodies at some point, since it appears to be about the two characters I was most interested in.

Did not expect Renji and Chihiro to get back together right after ep. 11, since like restore said, the anime consistently has a melancholic tone (much like 5 cm/s), but hey--I'm not complaining. Really nice heartwarming ending, despite being a *little* cheesy and contrived with Renji having collected all the pages of Chihiro's diary. Then again, that may not have even mattered as it seems the power of their love transcends her amnesia ^_^. The scene with the angel wings was a nice touch, with Chihiro having finally broken free of her shackles. Also some nice closure on Hiro and Kei's parts. Glad she didn't turn out to be a real bitch.

Overall, this was a wonderful anime with outstanding artwork and music, though I didn't feel as attached with the characters as say, for example, in Clannad (not much of a complaint, as Clannad is my favourite drama)--but for a 12 episode series, ef-a Tale of Memories has done an incredible job in that department as well. A solid 9/10 from me, rounded down.

Looking forwards to Melodies :D

Just curious, how did Chihiro remember Renji? I thought the time limit has passed & she throw away her diary pages.. Was it because after 13 hours, she slowly forgets everything? Hour by hour?

Oh great, a paper plane that flew for God knows how long, and somehow Chihiro can remember Renji even with her short term memory loss. Too convenient. Knew from the start that I won't like Chihiro/Renji side, but I just had to finish for the Hiro/Miyako/Kei side.

Hiro/Miyako/Kei side:9/10
Renji/Chihiro side: 6/10
So, 7.5/10, minus 0.5 for the fact that the two arcs almost have nothing to do with each other so 7/10.

I mirror this expept for to knock a point off each. Renji & Chihiro's arc couldn't be more cliqued if it tried. Like RedSuisei said, a paper plane that just happened to be flying was her dairy? And the paper scattered around just happened to be there, scattered? AND that she can remember him despite a conflicting illness saying it's not possible for her to remember, just so they can get back together? Yeah, right.

The answer machine and episode 10 highlighed why the Kei arc was so much better. It tried something a bit different, a bit daring. And it worked. But because they wasted so much time on the Renji arc, the character development and relationship building (especially Kyosuke and his relationship with Kei) were not fully utilised.

So, it would be a 6.5/10, but for the same reason as above, it gets a 6. I'll get onto melodies when the disappointment wears off...

Chihiro remembered Renji because she continued to think about him even after the incident in which she broke up with him and threw all the pages from he diaries away. It was said by herbin precious episodes that she if she re reads what she wrote, she can remember a lot longe than the thirteen hours.

Anywho, love this anime. Episode 7 has got to be the most psychologically nerve wracking anime episode I've eve seen though. However, this episode brought upon a nice closure.

This may be irrelevant but, iswea this anime couldve went towards a more noire ish theme a well. Not that there's somehig wrong with how the anime turned out but it would have definitely made me take a second look at it if they had made it more sad. When Miyako made all those phone calls to hiro that fell on deaf ears, I couldve sworn she was gonna commit suicide. Same for chihiros arc. I thought that after she threw those pages, she wouldve have fell to her death. It made me think that the duplicate key to the schools rooftop given to renji by hiruma had a deeper purpose (or foreshadow). Would have been interesting to see a side story like that.

Well to conclude, good anim. Looking forward to watching the second season!

That's exactly the problem. Her so-called "short term memory loss" is certainly too convenient. For me, it felt more like the writer tried to include an plot device to make a conflict, but set it up in such a way that the conflict can easily be settled without much effort. Heck, I knew from when the details about her memory loss was explained that it will definitely be exploited to give an easy happy ending.

Though, this is just my opinion, and it could be because I really like Hiro's arc that the disappointment from Renji's arc got doubled.

It stated she can retain memories for longer, not completely retain them. Considering the impression was that the anime had progressed a couple of days after she had ripped her memories out, and consider how unstable her condition seemed, the idea that she retained his memory for more than 2 days seems far-fetched. The only way around that is if Chihiro started re-writing about Renji in the diary, but then if that was true, why wasn't it revealed?

Like Red above says, it seems all to convienient in the context of the narrative.
