The manga didn't fully grab me but in the anime she's way cuter, I want to watch more of her.
The MC is pretty cringeworthy but let's see where it goes.

I lasted only 7 minutes until it just got unbearable..I think this type of shows are just not for me. I thought of giving it a try anyway but...I just don't find this kind of humour funny. That being said tho, people who enjoy it then good for you! The animation was pretty good.

Damn, I was pretty certain that Yamada was voiced by Hanakana when the first teaser came out or I'm just trippin'.

The beginning of the series is unlike the rest. Trust me, the tone will shift away from chuunibyou cringe humor to friendship and romance with some good tension between the two leads. The end of episode 1 which you missed is more like what's coming up later.

Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would, never thought I would relate to such cringe chuuni moments, but here we are!

The cat scene in the library really got me!

Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

So the show gets out of the chuunibyou zone? o: hmmmm...then I might give it another shot. I see this getting lots of praise in general so I will give it another try.

...Am... Am I supposed to find the fact that this boy literally has murderous intrusive thoughts endearing or something?

Dude doesn't need a girlfriend, he needs a therapist.

That's just hot air. How believable is it that he's murderous when he's worried if Yamada has the art tools she needs for her project or that she's impolite and is annoying people?

Having intrusive thoughts isn't the same as legitimately wanting to kill someone, and the protag is a textbook example of the former.

I don't find it cute, I just feel sorry for him.

It was the opposite of intrusive; when he found her scarfing her riceball in the library he had to remind himself about the whole murder thing...only to decide to "observe" instead; he never remembers he supposedly wants to murder her for the rest of the episode.

Like all anime, episode one gives a layout of the main characters, how they live in their own worlds and the beginnings (or insight) into their interactions.
I thought the whole want-to-murder thing was very different, especially in an anime that is clearly romance based.

It's weird how they're only in middle school but they have such mature, pervy, grotesque thoughts and conversations. It's like animators know the high school setting is getting played out but are doubling down and switching to middle school cause college and young adult settings are not to be touched

I had high expectation to this adaptation and for now I appreciated what I have seen. As a rom-com it does so many things right and I hope does who found the first episode too cringey and weird to not ditch the show but keep giving it attention. Amazing pacing and story progression, great main and support characters, believeable characters' actions and development and a good blend between wholesomess, hornyness and naiveness in the characters make IMHO BokuNoYaba one of the best rom com out there. Personally in term of enjoyement I consider it close to Kaguya-Sama tier and well about other popular rom com like Komi, MyDressUpDarling or TheGirlILikeForgot HerGlasses.

This was not what I was expecting but it actually is probably better. I was here for some trashy dexter killer romance but instead its about angry confused young people growing up and understanding their emotions. This was cute and I am excited to see the characters grow and change.

Not that I hated but I was expecting some smoothiness but what they are giving us is good not that bad but not that bad but if it doesn't deliver me something else something more mature than it will be a flop for me right flap for me like regular slow budget anime

Much better than I expected, I was thinking this would be another standard "hot girl chases the class loser/loner for no reason" anime a la Kubo-san and the like, but they set up the stage for her to be paying attention to him quite nicely and organically. The quite like the MC too, not because he starts off as a wannabe incel but because his fantasy world comes crashing down whenever he's confronted with a real situation, and instead turns into a normal nervous socially awkward kid that tries to be helpful. Great potential for character growth in this anime, 8/10 first epi; looking forward to where the future ones will go.

Great animation and interesting characters.
For the 1st episode to be this interesting to watch... >.<
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I don't get the diabetees part as manga reader said
I didn't exactly get it either from the first episode. But - as a reader of the manga as well - let me tell you that it's there. A plus of the manga (any manga, really) just is that you can speedread to where it gets better. This may have a bit of a slow start.

Same here. I was really excited when the anime adaptation was announced. But after watching the first episode, I can't say the hype is still there. To me, the pacing was rather slow. It felt like an hour of nothing but silly interactions and little story progression; quite different from what I remember from the manga. This is mainly due to the reader's ability of reading chapters one after another, giving the story a different pace when comparing it to the first episode of the adaptation. However, I was happy to finally see the characters move around and interact with each other. Small details such as Ichikawa's weird walk and Yamada's cute expressions while eating flesh out their characters and provide more information as to what kind of person they are. I won't let this first episode stop me. Hopefully, the next episodes will pick up the pace and get to the good parts.

I haven't met anyone who talks to their crush about their fetish, which ended up with both of them going out. But then again, I wasn't the most sociable guy back in school. So yeah, spot on, I guess.

I was surprised at the beginning, but I think that is what will make the interesting development of the story.

I like how carefree Yamada is, and how eccentric Ichikawa is (I think his development will be cool).

I've heard of a lot of MC's obsessed with something, be it zombies, fighting, magic, getting a harem, etc., but i've never met one who wants to murder. The guy seems to jump to conclusions a lot and thinks very badly of people he doesn't really know, and the way he dressed was pretty emo. Anna was an interesting character though, positive and a bit bubbly, but it also looked like she had some problem. I'm not surprised, high school's where a lot of problems emerge. Maybe they can help each other out, after all, opposites attract.

Ichikawa seems interesting and relatable character and his sudden unexpected actions are amusing XD. On the other hand Yamada is fun and her carefreeness is quite likeable. I'm curious to see how their relationship is gonna progress.

I decided to give it a watch cuz it gave similar vibes like Komi-san but this one seems kinda dull. But I'm hoping it'll have its own charm.

I honestly was expecting this to be another romance comedy type of relaxing anime, but it was not. It actually gives me a refreshing feeling to the romantic subtext genre, since it feels quite different to the other romantic subtext anime. Looking forward to upcoming episodes.

Cute but fucking difficult to watch lol. If we get to the point where the couple can actually engage in human dialogue it will get easier

I really appreciate how Yamada's character is written but that's obviously more of Sakurai's doing than the anime producers

Another one of those innocent and wholesome-looking shows, and it's even by the same studio that did Takagi-san. Nothing will probably top Takagi-san, but I guess I'll check it out and maybe enjoy some nice and wholesome vibes....

SHOWS DUDE GETTING ABSOLUTELY SHREDDED AND SLICED UP WITH A BOX CUTTER WTF!!!! And then later we have, I'm assuming these are middle-schoolers, just casually talking about sex. Nice. Also this girl is TOWERING over this dude. Yeah idk what to think of it all, but I'm definitely interested. Will be giving it at least an episode more or two. I dropped Kubo-san because, well, meh. This one on the other hand, looks like it's got some balls.
