So I see that you're into some obscure titles and home video collecting. You seems to be around much longer than I (born in 70s? Wow). But can I interest you with some obscure titles? As you can see I used to belong to anime club back in the forum days that promotes obscure titles the ones that people never heard before. That forum is long gone now but that doesn't mean I can't give a recommendation or two. I'm surprised some of the obscure ones happened to your list.

You said your list isn't completed yet? So I won't be surprised if you already seen what i'll be recommending, do forgive if that's the case. Funny thing though i haven't completed mine either. It's just too much work to do. So I'm just not planning to complete it.

So I just checked the manga as you recommend. I'd say the first chapters flowed better in the manga, I really felt how both of them are nothing more than just classmates and how Ichikawa's deed slowly earned Yamada's feelings. Notably the "I died" chapter where Kyo took the blame for Hara writing Yamada's name on tomb, I can really feel her distaste towards Kyo until it was cleared up and her apology was really heartfelt. Also Kyoutarou providing her tissue as major turning point in early chapters, when she realised how much he's been been looking out for her and thoughtful and considerate he is. It was really noticable in the manga. Whereas in the anime,it only took 3 episodes for tissue scene to happen, so fast that you could barely noticed the development.

The anime has it's merits but swapping the chapters didn't really help the flow of first 3 episodes, to me it felt like yamada has been more friendly towards ichikawa than in it's manga counterpart. I get why they did the swapping though because some chapters could relate to each other, it really worked in later episodes, most notably is "I was used" chapter which was combined with "I keep quiet" chapter, to me they really blend well playing with ichikawa's mind, like how yamada used him to drive off haruya parallels how haruya used kobayashi to get yamada.

The anime really starts to shine halfway although yea the manga is really worth recommendation, especially the early chapters.

Yep I do read the manga, there are great chapters that I wished get adapted but sadly did not, especially glico and using one’s strength. However, I do respect Hiroaki’s decision of reshuffling and using chapters to bundle them together for a single theme of each episode but also show takagi and nishikata’s growth in relationship, even adding some anime originals. That just shows how Hiroaki doesn’t just copy paste but also give the adaptation justice and even amplify it.

Some of chapters such as First day of school (Entrance Ceremony in manga) for example which I prefer in the manga version because it gave us some insights as to how Takagi fall for Nishikata, she seems to have notably noticed nishikata’s crush on her by the end of the chapter which helps us see that Takagi must’ve liked him back as result.

Manga is great but it just feels that their relationship don’t seem to go anywhere but don’t get me wrong, I like the manga to be ongoing and would like to see more cute chapters going. I’m just saying pros and cons but also say how Hiroaki shows respect for source material. Ofc I also give credits to Yamamoto being the original creator not as secondary but he (yamamoto) definitely deserves more credit.
