Can you recommend me some 'good fight choreography' anime? From what I've seen lately, Terraformars (1) had pretty decent one.

From what I've watched that would be: Akame ga Kill!, Fate series and Psycho-Pass but just the first season. Those had excellent fight scenes imo

Sword of the Stranger has some of the best sword fight choreography I've seen. Samurai Champloo is a close second.

WOOW now that was a change of animation! incredible, new with the style but thougt it was very impressive! love that Nakamura Yuuichi the MC, like the comedy and the Brutality, the blod, not the biggest info with Japanese history but yeah, probably need to know a thing or two xD Awkward yea)) cant wait fot the army guy xD

Look promising to me, and curious about more! and awesome ED
cause MAL is doing there job for once.

Brilliant animation.

Fighting was Bullshido technique again, but at least they got the basic cuts more or less right.

Why,.. why, doesn't anyone ever make a proper non-fantasy Sengoku period anime with this quality of animation?

Sword of the Stranger's "best sword fight choreography" is in fact an extended sakuga by Yutaka Nakamura, which actually makes it all the more impressive.

Samurai Champloo didn't impress me that much overall, though the fight with the blind jumonji yari wielding onna bugeisha did.

Kuromukuro has some good sword fights, or rather incorporates some realistic sword fighting stances in its fights, which is odd, since it's mostly about mecha.

I actually enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. Not sure why people are complaining about the humour either, but I guess to each their own. I found the comic relief bits pretty funny, personally.

this looks awesome.
What's with this studio producing this ? Is this madhouse that created a new studio just for this show? cause madhouse was supposed to adapt this if I remember correctly (they announced it when hellsing ultimate ended).

I feel so disappointed, the first episode felt like a mess overall.
That comedy was just so off-putting.

I didn't really understand the need for some dialogue in the beginning between the MC and his uncle but the bloody fight scenes were A+. I also like where this is going seeing all sorts of technology, and hopefully we'll see some GATE-like stuff where people who only wield swords get rekt by guns and modern technology. One can only hope. I didn't enjoy much of the dialogue after going to the world of drifters, mostly because I didn't understand it. I also didn't enjoy seeing the MC constantly swinging his sword around even if it was just for comedy. Overall I am looking forward to this anime and I can't wait for episode 2!!

I'm enjoying the dark, edgy, violent feel of this anime. Let's hope it sticks to this form instead of flip floppingto and from comedy.

Seems like a fun gory anime, just as expected. However for now it seems inferior to Hellsing ultimate, kinda hard to beat vampire vs nazis with samurai vs nazis.

I'm going to give this anime a chance and not criticize it since it's only one episode out. what grabbed my attention was the art itself. it was on point , looks amazing. especially during the killing. I knew that it reminded me of another anime. had to talk it out with my bf. hellsing is one of his favorite animes. answer the story itself seems interesting. the plot kicked in when he walked into the other world not knowing what's happening. that's when I realized it's not going to be the same story of a deranged samurai defending him and his people. the comedy that they portrayed was a little questioning but all in all , it keeper me interested and can't wait for the next epi

Historical mumbo jumbo + violence + a touch of fantasy

Everything was all over the place.. just exactly what I expected from Kouta Hirano. I'll definitely keep watching this.

The animation is unique but good. Soundtrack is also on point and I liked the fighting scenes in the beginning.
But the comedy feels very out of place, which bothers me a bit. A good pilot episode, I guess.

My opinion of the manga isn’t the greatest, and this episode didn’t change that. Still, it’s always good to see fights animated...

The mindless action should be good enough to waste/pass time though... Also, it’s only *12 episodes long, so shouldn’t be that bad (MAL really needs to update their database).

The ED sequence was nice. The song was OK.
Looking forward the OP.

*6 Blu-rays, 2 episodes each.

Pretty good first episode, and considering I'm already used to Hirano's odd style of writing, I don't really mind the oddly timed comedic scenes.

The only problem is that to understand some of these jokes minimal knowledge of Japanese history is required. Clearly something which a lot of people who're watching this lack.

Either way, I'm looking forward to some bloody mindless action, and looking at the animation I'd say it's good enough. And if the story is decent, then that's a good plus.

Why the fuck couldn't they animated Berserk like this? Also strange how this is rated lower than the OVA despite the art and animation refinement.

The awkward comedy is a trademark of Kouta, you'd be used to it if you have watched hellsing.

Can you recommend me some 'good fight choreography' anime? From what I've seen lately, Terraformars (1) had pretty decent one.

Darker than Black, Stranger, OPM, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, FMAB, Soul Eater, HxH and some ufotable works. The serious Gintama fights are also pretty neat but overall I guess Bones leads in that regard when I look at my list.

OT: Was only the part with the Sekigahara Battle excluded from the Special Edition? Cause i skipped a bit of the episode...

I'm interested in the premise of the show, also animation looks really good and they used OST very well during this episode. I see how comedy can be a bit too much distracting and weird but I personaly enjoyed cause I know a little about Japanese history.

Definitely got Hellsing Ultimate vibes, I like Hirano Kouta-sensei's artstyle...

I'm looking forward to this! :D

Solid first episode. I liked it! The fight scenes were great and I feel like I'm going to love the characters. I'm a not sure where the story is going and what it is going to be about, but the ending made me want to watch the next episode. The only thing that I didn't really like is the comedy. I hope it won't bother me in the next episodes, I find it weird and kind of useless. Let's see!

This post is super amusing for some reason.

As for the episode, Hellsing Ultimate has blown me away with its animation back in the day, and this does not fail to deliver. The concept of the anime gives me some strange Matrix vibes mixed with Lotor and Japanese History... which is really, really awesome!
