Damn, that stupidly fun to watch.

I love how all those old rivals together to help them.

Those last few minutes with the 2v1 and complete silence, aside from sound of shells going off and tracks traveling around, felt pretty damn intense.

Looking forward to Final Chapter

I wouldn't get to far ahead of myself there with your last line. According to very trustable sources, like the people who made it themselves, they plan to take this as far as they can, so long as they can avoid tedious repetition. Of course, I would still watch it even if it became slice of life anime.

Oh, no, I was talking about the name of the sequel :P : https://myanimelist.net/anime/33970/Girls_und_Panzer__Saishuushou

But yeah, it sounds possible that they'd expand further on the series. Maybe 'Final Chapter' will just end the story for Miho and her friends

I probably never fangirled harder! The first minutes, seeing the girls and their tanks.. pure hype!

The action was awesome, many twists, comedic and drama was also included.

Easiest 9/10 in my life

I really hope we get new seasons and new movies. This franchise is just to good!

(Considering something was confirmed, I guess it will be maybe some movie like OVAs showing the world championship or a full series. Everything else would be to short. Since its called "Final chapter" I guess they will be to old for school afterwards.. )

That maybe possible that they maybe to old, but that don't mean they couldn't still come up with something after school also. Just because it's a school anime don't mean the sport does not go beyond just high school. I mean they had collages I think in the movie or a univarsity. So that tells you already that it can go beyond that of just High school.

Anyways I wouldn't mind if they never ended the show at all really. Keep it going for a long time and keep the character short haha.

The story was the same as the anime. GG Japan

This was a little bit more interesting than the anime itself, but it was still pretty mediocre.

There were a lot of actions to be seen here. They really took the tank physics to another hilarious level with this one.
I also liked that the old rivals were working together this time and the addition of the Finnish school in battle.

Will surely watch this movie again just for the actions.

What a great and enjoyable movie! :)

They really decided to go all out on their tank tactics and physics haha it's pretty hilarious.

I really like the scenes between Miho and Maho. Glad to see that those 2 sisters are getting along quite well now.

Very easy 9/10 and I'm looking forward to this Final Chapter that has been announced!

Ive watched it for the 100th times already! and for me, id like to have another season or movie because
1. its been discussed about the preparation of pro league to enter the world cup, means two battles, pro league qualifier and for the world cup.
2. introduction of university team, its very obvious that not only shimada style has a school in tank but many more
3. the university team defeating the "adult team", means there are many type of categories in tank battles not only in schools
4 and lastly, at the first episode senshado has been introduce to the girls to become independent, brave and etc. but there has to be senshado in boys, would like to have a battle between boys and girls in senshado

The story is very lame (is like Star Wars VII in the context that the prequels' achievements are useless at the end), so it was just a excuse to make to them participate in a battle again... but at least IT WAS VERY AWESOME BATTLE! The moment that the others schools joined forces I was amazed! It's like when the red power rangers joined forces! >w<!! These two battles were very long, with alot scenes without music and with much tension, giving a nice tweak when you compare to the 1-battle-per-episode style of the anime counterparts.

9/10 Looking forward for more Girls un Panzer!! Panzer Vor!

Story was alright, but the drama and battles were top-notch. Fitting conclusion to the series, and the moment when the other schools joined forces was spine-tingling. Tank choreography was even crazier here if that's even possible.

8/10 gimme more moe-tanks pls.

No it is not possible. The speed, the turns, the jumps and the misses and bounces are all impossible. But it's in relative terms. For the most part, tanks faster in real history are also faster in the film. Chaffee and Crusader were shown to be much more agile than Pershing and Tiger, just as they were historically. Likewise, KV-2, historically with abysmal mobility, never had to do anything more than a quick drive in the film.

On top of that, the film paid a LOT of attention to realistic details such as gun depression, track damage/repair, restriction of gun barrel movement in tight space, etc etc. Gun depression is everywhere in the film, just as it is everywhere in real history. As a tank nerd, I approve.

So the tank battles are imaginative but not unrealistic because there is no lack of historical realism in the choreography.

Not a big fan of how they essentially recycled the same goal the anime had but that's the only real problem I had.

It's so great seeing all of the characters from the anime working together. Especially with the two sisters in that final scene.

Punchy the bear was hilariously ridiculous XD

The middle portion of the movie dragged so hard. They could have easily shaved 10-20 minutes of all the girls being depressed. I honestly think the time would have been better spent looking at the other teams because the girls from the other schools are incredibly well liked, and none of the received as much time as they deserved. I'm still amazed that they spent almost no effort characterizing any of the opponents.

I'm disappointed that this movie decided to forgo tactics. The fights in the anime felt like they had a much clearer progression and that the strategies the teams used is what one the day. The movie just decided to have amazing actions sequences, even though it made no sense how anyone got into the situations. Granted, you could see this trend start to appear in the anime, but I would have rather had a duel of the minds.

Can't believe I slept on this series for so long... moe shows are generally pretty, well, generic and I have absolutely no interest in tanks. But damn if the series and the movie aren't the best moe I've ever seen. The action, the relationships between the schools, the gags and the drama, it's all just really well done while retaining that naturally moe feel at the same time. And the girls are all so cute!! <3

Girls und Panzer definitely deserves the praise it gets, the final movie can't come soon enough!

This movie was a real treat! The whole premise was awesome and we had some over the top annihilation game for the first time. I really cannot pick the best duels in this one. Most importantly, all of the characters had their time to shine and it really looked like a team effort!

Back to the movie story, I was almost certain the others would join the moment they mentioned 30 vs 8 in an annihilation match but it was still so grand! Ooarai teams had incredible contribution from each group.

The feeling of dread actually goes away when you think these girls survive after what they go through during these games! But who am I to complain when I loved them so much.

This movie had almost everything. From emotional turmoil to fun moments, from extraordinary moments to those mundane scenes. Oh! I cannot even begin to express how much I loved it!

9/10 for this breathtakingly brilliant movie!

The opening scenes did an okay job of introducing some of the tank girls since it's my first time watching the Girls und Panzer franchise and their school situation but the Oorai vs University All-Stars battle was what made the movie a 9 for me. I didn't expect that they'd make a really good job of executing the idea of highschool girls in battle tanks.

The characters were lovable and memorable, the tanks were awesome, the historical and country references were great, and the action was superb. There were also some scenes that gave me the feels like that part where Katyusha's teammates sacrifice themselves so she can go on. The persistent Beat-Up Bear was very random and funny but it goes well with the theme of never giving up really well.

This is one animovie I won't mind rewatching soon~

Watched it a third time. Now that I have finished the TV series, I understand some of the jokes better such as Midoriko saying Sodoko is a fine name. Now I know the symphonic music during the opening exhibition match after they entered the no firing zone was the ending theme

So my friend said they got a native Russian speaker a to voice Klara, did the actress also voice her when she revealed that she spoke Japanese or was it two actresses?

Didn't like it as much as the series. The first half was good (even though kind of repetitive with the same school shutting down plot), but the 2nd half turned into a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth.

The team with those comic relief girls that charged in like a bunch of dodos every single time without thinking twice, quickly got really annoying.

The sudden melodrama during the scene with Katyusha and her "right hand" Nonna "sacrificing" herself, was pretty jarring, because the show's tone was much more lighthearted and very tongue in cheek, and didn't take these battles this seriously, because it knew the ridiculousness in a bunch of cute anime girls nonchalantly battling with fully armed tanks. I guess they put that in there to make it more "cinematic" like a regular formulaic popcorn movie.

But the battles themselves were sometimes quite fun, like when they took out that giant 600 mm gun, and especially the final fight on the model Fuji. So it was a 7/10.

This is how it should be. Girls und Panzer shines best when it makes like Michael Bay and blows everything up. The maximum focus on battles in this movie made it impossible to take my eyes off it. The All Star match felt providential as it showcased the full range of GuP's creative potential. While I reluctantly grew to enjoy the TV series, there's no doubts in my mind when dealing with this movie.

9/10, a true home run.

On a side note, Anchovy won me over. Just gotta love her & that tiny tank. After seeing her all too brief debut in the TV series, I knew I had to keep my eye on her.

I didn't expect to hear this song in the movie. It was also used in Die Hard With A Vengeance, I love it.

Overall, this movie delivered: more girls, more panzer, more over-the-top action scenes and a nice soundtrack. And I like how all the familiar faces banded together.

Just wanted to geek out about how cool the opening shot of the film is as you move out past the tanks and Miho turns to look at the camera!!

It gave me a little chill and reminded me of the original Call of Duty box art or the Fallout trailers where the soldier would turn to the camera and you’d hear “War. War never changes.”

Nice exhibition battle, so much amazing battle scenes there!

There a new conflict arouse as how shit that Japan Minister of MEXT (cmiiw to the name) do not want to keep his promises!

Loli commander of the college student, so adorable! Dont forget about her co-commanders too! All of the moeness, come as one on this long-run movies!

More new tank appear as an enemy, and as a team member too!

More new tactic and strategies in the first and last battle there!

What an epic huge battle with a large battlefield i ever seen. 30 vs 30 tank? That was surely not just a usual senshadou, that was a real war!

No complain, i enjoy all of the great scene appear there. The story really make an amazing development. Full of epic animations, full of twist, full of tenses action, full of amazing gunfire, full of Saki's genius thought!

10/10 for sure on this masterpiece. No other comment for me. This is really an amazing continuations for the first series. Sadly, i can't see more of this, since the Das Finale (6 parts movie finale) announced lately. No more main story appear, then? Idk, proudly what i watch now, and hope for the better future on this serialization 5-6 years for now.

They recycled the plot from the TV series. That may be true, but who cares about that when the battle for the school staying open is so epic. There's also so much trivia, but that's covered in other thread. Overall, it's an excellent movie. A worthy sequel for the TV series.

As a fan of tanks this was a treat. They should've included other tanks though especially in that final fight since they were up against powerful tanks such as the Pershings, T28, and Centurion. It was a missed opportunity. IMO. Realistically, I don't think they could've defeated the enemy with the tanks they had. lol

After watching this movie I kinda want to play world of tanks again.

Anyway, utterly over the top and ridiculous show and it was fun to watch. 8/10

I loved it! They managed to save their school from closing :D

Maho is such a nice person, I didn't expect her to come to her sister's aid, but it shows how much family means to her.

Also, loved the music in this movie too, there was the instrumental of Säkkijärven polkka, a Finnish folk tune.

Now here's some interesting background around this song for those of you interested:

During the war between Nazi Germany & Finland against the Soviets (1941-1944) the Soviets were retreating and left radio controlled mines in a town called Vyborg.

The mines were triggered when a three-chord tune was played on the correct frequency.

However, the Finns discovered some leftover triggers from a 600kg explosive placed under the Moonlight Bridge and sent them to be investigated. While that was going on, a special transmitter car was driven to Vyborg and this car continuously played a tune on the mines' frequency so that the soviet signals to the mines were disrupted.

The tune was chosen from the car's record collection and it was none other than Säkkijärven polkka played by Viljo Vesterinen, without any pauses. Here's a youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZx1zl_sVTI

So those triggers I mentioned - they got decoded and it was found out that the mines operated on 3 different frequencies. The transmitter of the car was powered by an internal-combustion engine, which was feared would disintegrate. SO, the military ordered some really cool 50-watt transmitters.

These 50-watters continued transmitting the music until February 2, 1942, which makes the total time of the music being continually transmitted around 5 months in total. The mines' batteries were calculated to have run out after around 3 months.

And that ends the story :3

Great movie! :D
