Enjoyed the show but the ending was unsatisfactory. How did the war between the two clans even start to begin with? Was it ever said? Gennosuke said Tenzen framed the Kouga? What was that about?

Yeah, they hated each other but neither clan seemed very bright. They would've clearly seen they were nothing but pawns on a chess board being played for fools by the shogunate. Their bloodlust for one another kept them from seeing the bigger picture. Peace and unity between the two clans. Imagine how powerful all those fighters together would've been? They could've overthrown the shogunate and taken over. Leyasu, I think saw that threat and used their hatred for one another to eradicate the treat.

I don't know. Just feels like they all died meaningless death's despite it being said there was peace in the end.

This anime is not good lol, Although it's not boring either.

I really wanted to give the show a 10/10 but because of all the rape I had to back down but I love the artstyle, the enjoyment I felt and the bittersweet story. I don't want to rate this the show low because its definitely better than alot of the trash out there I wish more people come to know about this one so because of that I'm giving it a 9/10

This was such a disappointment. So, we have: an immortal character (who revives 5 - okay, 4.5 - times in 24 episodes!), another character who is the only one capable of standing against the immortal one (although he's blinded almost as soon as his ability is introduced), his beloved girl who just so happens to be blinded pretty soon as well (this show has a weird fetish for blind people), a huge cast of bland characters who don't induce any emotions whatsoever, and an ending so corny it practically renders the whole show meaningless. I honestly was expecting so much more. 5/10

Not a bad anime to be honest, it has a good animation, soundtrack and most characters were interesting... but not the main ones though.
This last chapter was not surprising at all to be honest, it's what exactly I expected.
Overall 6/10.

Also I really disliked the pacing here.

One thing missing from all this was interaction with Oboro/Genosuke with their people; we only see them with the other 9 special warriors. A little more on their cultures and family dynamics would have been nice.

Overall, this was a beautiful story. I love romance and prefer endings that end happily, but this was a great ending. It was bittersweet. The peace their marriage was supposed to bring came with their deaths instead, but their goal was accomplished.

I gave this an 8 out of 10 in 2014, but I think this is a 9/10. There were some issues, but the story was so impactful by the end of it; this really left a mark on me this time.

I was about to say this ending was directed and written wonderfully, but then Gennosuke made the genius decision of recording the Iga as having won their feud, despite the Kouga being the victors. Not only did this make no sense, but it trampled on the efforts of his fellow Kouga members who gave up their lives for their cause. Recording the Kouga as the victors would not change their star-crossed lovers dynamic, or his suicide after walking into the river.

This anime was adequate, and is adept at conveying the brutality and tragedy of a setting based around feuding clans. The narrative unfolded at a sufficent pace, and there wasn't any outstanding issues with the animation either. What let it down was the irrational, inconsistent characters mostly defined by their relationships and bizarre frothing hatred for the opposing clan. Oboro, Saemon and Tenzen all seemed to make decisions fitting their motives, but the rest were blank slates whose behaviour was puppeteered by whatever direction the plot wanted to hurtle towards. Even the main protagonist is barely a character, and doesn't do or say anything for most of the anime.
