The author should have taken the time to find some other way to take Atri out of the picture instead of this forced and nonsensical ending with Eden that robbed it of impact...

Damn so that’s how it all ends :/ gonna miss Atri on Saturdays, wasn’t the best show ever but I did really grow to care about Atri, Natsuki and the whole island. Seeing how humanity continues to evolve and live in the face of such insurmountable odds always does something to me. I didn’t cry during the episode, but I def felt a little tingly in my back during the atri and Natsuki farewell. I was hoping Natsuki would tell her he loved her there though!

So everything worked out as it was meant to in the end. Atri getting in the energy generator was the missing piece to restoring power to the island, ironic since they spent half the season trying to do that. It also ensured humanity’s survival with the other Edens and Natsuki was able to advocate for humanoid rights so they could live freely. But.. at the same time breaks my heart knowing he had to wait 70 years to see her again. Literally an entire lifetime..

The episode title, “stop, time, you’re beautiful” is definitely fitting. Now that they’re together in the digital world, Natsuki and Atri will be together forever. Wish we could’ve seen her meeting his mom again though :/ overall, a nice finale to a solid show. I would’ve liked to have got more on the climate change stuff and more worldbuilding, personally, but still had fun here.

Also, shoutout to Minamo for being such a great friend to Natsuki. I would’ve liked to see who she ended up marrying

They changed the ending a little in comparison to the visual novel, but she basically married Natsuki and were together for the seventy year gap. When Natsuki is at the end of his life she gives him permission to digitalize his consciousness in order to see Atri again.

Okay the ending wasn't as sad as I was expecting but it wasn't bad at all, Atri has been sealed and the Eden has been used to save humanity, it's nice that we could see what happened 70 years later and how they all succeeded in what they wanted to do, but I don't know if only seeing Natsuki and Atri in a digital world was the best, but I don't mind it I guess.

What an absolute letdown of an ending. All that trouble taken to put a fake glossy smile on it.

This had the potential to be an all-time great after the cliffhanger of episode 8. Unfortunately, it went into a downward spiral with a comical antagonist, as well as a mediocre final arc in which the only solution was to obey a hologram's orders.

The first 8 episodes of this were absolutely better than contemporaries like Plastic Memories or Chobits. It seemed like the best ever take on whether or not artificial intelligence could truly feel human, and the challenge of accepting manufactured emotions as true. But it threw that all away with a rocket punch. If the final arc had been removed, and the comical antagonist had been written such that you could empathize with position, then this could've truly been one of the best anime of the year. Maybe it could've launched a visual novel adaptation renaissance, as they've all but disappeared in favor of generic isekai #42069.

But it's still a beautiful-looking show, and I'll always remember the first 8 episodes. It's just aggravating how this had so much potential but threw it away. The supporting cast was excellent, especially Minamo. Her empathy dialogue in episode 9 regarding how similar humans and robots process logic was brilliant. But she and the rest of the cast was roped into the pointlessness of the final arc. 7/10

Despite the fact that I'm still debating whether the ending is good or just ok, I thought the series was very good. Well directed, beautifully drawn and ATRI is definitely one of the cutest creatures of 2024, following her and her partner was pure joy.

Good vibes came out of this anime, no real head-scratching, some meta questions even if they weren't really explored (but is that so important?). The emotions were there.

I had a great time.

They changed the horrible VN ending so I consider this adaptation saved.

In the VN Minamo ended up with Natsu. (but he still went back to Atri in a similar way)
Now that I think about it, Natsuki never showed interest in Minamo, and she even said that what she wanted is to support him, not date him, so yeah, the anime ending is more realistic in that sense, but at the same time sadder for Natsuki, as he is alone for 70 years until meeting Atri again, but digitally.

Ambivalent on this ending. While I was pleased to see that there was some tangible function to Atri being installed in Eden's core capsule: powering the island's electricity with the flick of a button, it's difficult to fathom why advanced, human-like AI was needed to perform a task that was apparently as simple as "flipping a switch". Nonko also uploaded herself into what I assume is Eden's computer mainframe, so if she had something like undersea cables constructed to connect it to the island, then surely she herself could've activated the substations or generators on the island. Regardless, Atri's choice still had a ripple effect in how it spurred both Natsuki's research of development of Humanoids, and the construction of additional Eden's around their progenitor; thus, I can hardly say that it was a choice that didn't produce long-term results.

Overall, a pretty enjoyable anime that did a serviceable job of building on its founding concepts, world-building and premise, especially within only 13 episodes. It is, however, a bit of a shame that the various sources of drama in this series compressed into only around seven episodes, because it lessened the emotional impact that could've been more fulfilling if each plot point were given more time to immerse you. Antagonists like Yasuda seemed like poorly developed fools because their motivations and plans were oversimplified for the sake of getting them out of the way within one cour, and it was evident that this also inhibited the romantic aspect of the series, which became increasingly sidelined by a continuous train of plot developments being stacked on top of each other.

Definitely appreciate the general visual beauty of the anime, what it did with the time it was allotted, and the optimistic resolution for what I initially thought would be a more underwhelming ending. Just wish this series had settled on pacing itself with a single prevailing source of drama, rather than having around three crammed into the latter half of the watch.

Decent anime I guess. I got teared up a bit, but still, the ending is kinda questionable...

I'm still confused with how am I supposed to feel about the whole romance going on between Atri and Natsuki. Other than that everything is fine. I never check out the VN so I'll consider to do that later, I'm curious with the contents they didn't adapt into the anime.

Minamo is still best character in this series ngl. She has the best personality, and cute too. I love her.

pretty meh ending, guess watching hardcore ending like Planetarian and other robot girl anime just make it blend for you, interesting enough they changed the story in both but ended in the same way of the original, or making it even worse like Natsuki living alone for 70 years in this anime adaptation.
Still loved Atri personality and feel like i got robbed with the adaptation here.

why did they have to do this to atri the grandma could of made a ai to be used instead of atri but i suppose there wasn't enought time however i think it would of been better that she lost her memories so they can make more she really proitized 44 days over 70 years and in that time natsuki could of made a new ai for eden. i just feel like the ending could of been avoided and the story of them after atri list her memories would be great.

😭😭 Atri-chan, please—OMG, this series has had me in tears…

Robots and androids are my weakness </3. My heart just can't take it! Thank you for giving us that ending—I don't think I could've handled it any other way. Still, how amazing would it be to keep following Atri's adventures? 🙏 Even if it's just in that world of data...

Thank you, thank you. It’s been a pleasure watching this series with you all—I love you guys! <3 So much love to everyone, thanks!

I'm happy with this ending. It's just kinda sad that they didn't recover Atri's body on that 1st Eden... (Peak Fiction)
