| The first part was better. Explanation of magic ranks and so on. The latter part was boring and didn't give anything... this is so slow.. now another episode for catching a bird then second and third test? I would rather see how Fern and others are doing... they will never get to that place with ghosts.. |

| Exam arcs are pretty great for the rapid introduction of cool characters with unique abilities. Catching a hyperfast bird is going to be an interesting endeavor! |

| Hmm okay jumping right into the magic exam. For some reason I figured the actual exam wouldn't start till the next episode, but I'm here for it. Pretty cool first round. Of course the bird had to have something very unique about it else it would be too easy. I suspect this arc will be at least as long as the Aura one. Probably not till the end of the season. That other elf from the intro has to show up eventually. |

Kanne just seems like a typical anime girl changing the pace into a typical anime, I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

This is definitely my least favorite episode in the series so far. By which I don't even mean it's bad, it's still good and entertaining, but it does lack a lot of the things I watch this show for.
Now that's not to say the episode was bad, it was still good, I enjoyed a lot of it (Frieren getting half the view of the sky was hilarious, I loved the return of the antique locket, Frieden's expressions at her teammates' behaviour were great), but it's not Frieren good for me. Hopefully this was just setup for some better episodes in the coming weeks. |

| Time for the chunin exam arc. I guess Stark won't be around much for this arc, which is kind of a shame since I was enjoying the intereactions between him and Fern. Got a bunch of new mages introduced, I think Ubel is probably the most interesting of the bunch. Though Kanne and Lawine are pretty entertaining. |

The beginning of a great arc! I hope we get to have more of a glimpse at Frieren true Power!
I also think the form of exam is really intersting, not an outright battle but something where a stretegy is needed and Frieren experience can rallye seine.

| @Hog_Rider Well, the form of the exam makes perfect sense if you think about it. Battle against each other as an exam would not make any sense, because competitions and exams are not the same thing. The point of an exam/certification is to show your skills and other measured qualities are above a certain fixed threshold. Logically that would not depend on the other people taking the exam. |
| The First Class-Mage Exam arc is underway as the group heads to the Kuhl region in the town of AuBerst, and Frieren finds a way to make use of her mana...though she DID see that Fern has developed in many ways than one that she could see "half the sky" lols. Ubel the Mage and Kraft the Monk nearby an area where bandits have been looting, the former is also on the way to the Continental Magic Association to sign up for the exam, which Frieren got a free pass from a professor who understood the holy emblem necklace that she wore, but that Himmel and the Hero Party could not recognize as a sign of her being a mage. For Fern, she's at least 3rd class, and according to Frieren, literally no one has passed the exams ever since, leading to a shortage of mages for years on end. As the day of the exam arrives, there were notables like Fern and troublemakers like Ubel, and so is Frieren learning how to use her mana in a very long while. In her 2nd group, there are two candidates of 3rd class mages Lawine and Kanne in-fighting amongst each other like buddies, and Fern is stuck with Ubel and somebody else. The first test in Grube Basin to capture the Stille bird with their assigned cage (while having the smug face between their fighting), they are not easy to obtain with their speed of sound. Both Lawine and Kanne's teamwork is impressive, but as long as they're fighting, they will not be able to work together and get the Stille. Kanne however was not careful and almost got caught by a monster, which Frieren saved her out of trouble. Lawine and Kanne's strained relationship may be there, but their synergy is pretty much perfect, if they worked in unison. |
