at least they don't use smoke cgi like in black clover.

not as bad as the episode we had last week.. but mainly because most fighting scenes were still images or just a line on a simple background.

still big g a r b a g tho

Indeed I don't know what they want anymore 😂

S2 is really so good 👌👌

This was a good ep mainly cause of the content, Suiryu got his ass handed hard, Saitama to the rescue at the end was hype.
Funny how I felt more impact reading the manga than how the anime made me feel, while there were some very few decent cuts, majority of the fight had no impact at all, Suiryuu's bones cracking didn't feel like shit at all.
The girl he was asking out on a date tho was hot.
I think its about time I drop this now, no point continuing the anime when the manga makes me enjoy the series more, the anime is just ruining my experience of pre-established stuffs.
Thus with my final comment for OPM S2, I bid you all farewell fellow fans.

I'd say watch the next episode atleast, since according to some sources, a certain animator is involved, so there's some looking forward to it. It's Saitama's fight maybe that's why.

I really felt bad for seryu when he was screaming for help and putting his usual pride and cocky attitude aside!
I was kinda hoping for tornado or any other really strong s class hero to show up cuz you know saitama just gonna one shot this dude
The animation in this ep was decent too!

Unpopular opinion: I'm enjoying season 2 better than the first season. I think I like the content it's covering better. Sure the animation is better in season one but in my opinion I like the story better in season 2. I like how the episodes seem to follow one another with a main villian rather than having a brand new story each week 💯

Suiryu got beat pretty hard. Sure, he has been acting very arrogant and cocky all this time and seeing him struggle is satisfying, but he was getting shattered, having his arms broken, teeth being smashed out of his mouth, legs almost out of commission. It left him to cry out for help, anyone that could save him from impeding death. Seeing him crying as he shouted for help in his beaten-up condition was a bit hard to watch, I must admit.

Luckily for him, Saitama arrives, in full cliched trope style, to save him. I expect the big guy to be destroyed quickly next time.

As for the episode's production quality, it was still inconsistent, similar to a rollercoaster going up and down. Some scenes we had some nice animation and also a few frames with some great drawings. Other scenes, the animation felt choppy and some character's models looked bad.

I'm expecting the next episode to have those same animation issues, again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there'll be a fight that can match the one from episode 3 in terms of animation quality, but we'll have to find out and see if one ever appears or not.

Good episode, but still a slightly frustrating one.

Episode was great. But seriously, one punch man series never left petty secrets like appearing on the last second and ending the episode right away. Fans love the satisfactory ending even if Saitama's fight was only about a minute. Sorry for being a critic, but I personally think this episode failed in that aspect no matter what the reason is.

Having many flaws, it is still one of the better episodes this season.

We get to see the effect of the monster transformation indicated in the last cliff hanger which hasn't been continued itself sadly adding it to the many useless scenes of OPM2 in hindsight. Garo's once again underwhelming appearance can be added to as well.
However, the reveal of the monster's goals gives the story some structure and consequences, so the viewer understands the circumstances and seriousness of the monster attacks finally. Additionally, gaining strength by becoming a monster creates a situation involving moral decisions. This was handled very superficial this episode, but it helped to involve the viewer by thinking about different possibilities.
The episode also benefited from the explicit showing of injuries. Although rather drastic for the show, the violence helped to portray the character change visually.

Considering the almost non existing expectations I have for OPM2 any more, I found some enjoyable things, nevertheless, the episode is still far away from being a good one.

The visuals and animation are not half bad this time tbh. Sure there's still some powerpoint animation here and there, but overall better than last episode. But what is up with their sound department? The punch doesn't sound like a punch, the blows doesn't sound like a blow, and the music adds nothing to the tension/feels of the scene. It's my major complaint with this season.

Exactly how I feel about this season. And I'm one of those who doesn't really care about the change in animation quality. It's not horrendous and that's good enough for me.

But the thing that 1st season had going for it was how ridiculously overpowered Saitama is, but also how clueless he was at every single moment. He'd meet various monsters, heroes, civilians, and things kept happening around him. He, however, was far too empty headed to understand many things.
And that was the comedy. This silly, child-like guy, keeps getting into "trouble" and has adventures, meeting tons of interesting side characters.

This season, on the other hand, turned him into interesting side character, while the world is being explored. Nothing bad in that, except it's fairly generic world. It's a world of heroes and monsters. Oh, and there's also one super overpowered guy called Saitama living in it, shows up from time to time.

I'd still rate this show with a decent 6, but it's a far cry from first season.

Well, OPM S2 has strike out in every category. Animation dropped from S-tier to C-tier. Pacing/story progression is careless compared to S1, (tbf S1 was too good). Lack of sound tracks that captured the intensity but then again at this point, it wouldn't be able to salvage this mess.

Massive disappointment from JC Staff, who are capable of quality (e.g., Bakuman, Saiki K, Prison School). I'm shocked they put minimal budget/care to such a hyped sequel that is OPM.

Only positive thing this season did for me was that it finally convinced me to read the manga. I was tempted before but ultimately was willing to wait for S2 and not spoil because the S1 adaption was SOOO good... Went to read the chapter(s) yesterday that was supposed to be covered by EP8 and the difference was night and day. J.C. Staff, if your incompetence is deliberate to get people to read the manga, then well played.

This episode covered some of my favorite material from the manga and... I actually thought J.C. Staff did a pretty good job. Sure, the animation wasn't superb, but I never really cared for the action in this part of the manga. I actually liked the complete sense of despair that Suiryu (and also the other fighters, but mostly Suiryu) experienced. Saitama's appearance at the end was also brilliant. 8.5/10 episode, in my opinion. Something I think they did wrong, excluding the easy to poke at animation style, was:

Quick edit: This is probably a controversial opinion here, but I'm seeing some people complain that Saitama is getting ignored in his own show. And while it seems like this is the case, don't forget that this sort of happened in the manga too (although it was less noticeable because the manga had better pacing). With characters like Suiryu and Garou getting their own character arcs, the source material itself didn't focus on Saitama this season nearly as much as the last season.

Another episode where we see random side characters that we'll never see again fighting against random monsters that we'll never see again either. Not gonna lie this season is a bit of a disappointment, not because of JC Staff but because the source material itself got a bit boring at this point.

A huge improvement considering the weeks of garbage leading up to this episode. Seriyu got some pretty good cuts (at least in comparison to the rest of this season) and I thoroughly enjoyed his character development.

In terms of animation this was one of the more stable episodes.

The previous episode were pretty bad with suiryu having weird proportion (head too small for the body) and static animation.

But I'm satisfied about the over all fight animation.

Kinda weird though that this episode was better animated than the Saitama fight.

If all the episodes were animated like this and didn't skip manga stuff this whole season would have the shitstorm it has now.

your post seriously confuses me- what saitama fight scene? In any event of saitama fighting, and any other fighting were quite faulty. the only good (and I do mean great fight that reminded me of fights in season 1 that hooked viewers) was the hero hunter vs tank top and company. overall season 2 is trash.

Great episode! Fighting sequences were really cool and enjoyable to watch. Their animation was very decent as well. Suiryu fought well, but it appeared to not be enough to beat Gouketsu. He is a beast! His skills are really something. He reminds me of Boros, although I do know he is not Boros or his incarnation. xD

It was sad to see beautiful and smiling Suiryu on his knees, laying wounded, with broken bones and with despair on his face instead of smirking. Good that Saitama answered his call for help. I wonder if Saitama vs. Bakuzan is gonna be quite long, because if Saitama will be serious, then Bakuzan is smashed in a jiffy.

What I think was the worst was the sound of some punches. It was not bad, but average, while the rest of audio had better quality, at least in my oppinion.

No, not yet.

Thanks for your answer. I hope we will see him soon. He actually appeared in this episode, but only as a slideshow for a very short period of time. It appears Puri Puri Prisoner-chan is wounded. :(

That slideshow proved monsters' uprising as something serious, happening for real and being on at this particular moment of a story.

Anyway, I can't wait for episode 9! As I understood from the last scene (kinda) of episode 8, Sonic will appear. I hope we will be able to see Saitama vs. Bakuzan duel as well.

Animation wasn't bad, it was actually pretty awesome, though of course there were a few scenes that felt pretty lazy or off, but that's to be expected this far into the series.
