Man, this episode was an emotional trip. Or roller coaster, I'm not even sure any longer. Damn this show is good.

A really strong episode. We got more backstory for Dorothy, learned the significance of Daisy/Dorothy's code name, and Beatrice even got some development as she is starting to bond with her. Dorothy's dad was a real bum, but he's still her dad. She loves and hates him at the same time, it's tragic.

While this was a sad episode, it was really satisfying watching Dorothy beat the crap out of those three creeps at the end. Dorothy is definitely my favorite girl out of the five.

Being a spy herself, I'm wondering why Dorothy didn't at least entertain the possibility they would simply dispose of her father once he turned over the information?

Poor Beatrice, everyone takes it with her. The episode I really liked, for various reasons.

A predictable ending, though it was good nevertheless.
I feel bad for Dorothy, but I can't feel the slightest bit sorry for her father. Him having regrets and knowing what he had done in the past was bad doesn't change the fact that he was an asshole with his child back then :/
The moral of the story is, don't be a dick to those who care about you, even in the worst of times.

Dorothy has always been my favorite character, and I am glad to see her get an episode centered around her.

As sad as the conclusion was, I am more anxious to see how she'll handle it.

I dunno, are they gonna kill every other father and family in next episodes? Not to mention it was utterly predictable.

Though it's interesting to see that she never learnt about his death probably. Their relation wasn't portrayed badly I guess. But the whole episode was still bit shallow to my taste.

But here we go again (all those suspensions of disbelief):

a) they were talking about being spies in a pub (like really?),
b) it was revealed that Beatrice has that mechanism in her through - twice - and noone cared?,
c) they are going around flashing their faces and names everywhere (with the same clothes), not trying to be discreet when they beat (or kill) someone yet noone recognizes them?
d) was she really so stupid to believe that her father would be okay when trying to sell such important cipher? did she never asked herself a question who is willing to pay for it in the first place? if anything her father is dead because of her!

Surely, if this series cared more about those little but important details, it would be a lot better in my book.

Scum is scum. He didn't change. He is still the scum he is but he was getting money. Only a day earlier, he was hurting Beatrice. Take away the money and he is still a piece of shit.

True change requires one reflect on one's own action, recognize one's faults, and resolve to be different. Then follow through.

Should we also consider every instance that he "apologized" to Dorothy a change? Because this "change" has about as much substance as those instances.

What would he have done without the near promise of money? Change isn't just getting lucky enough for circumstance to improve.

If he was introduced as someone who realized how much of a scumbag he was, controlled his temper, refused to drink and so on, then that is change.

Bayek said:
I see now why Daisy uses the code name "Dorothy."

Wow, what a mess that one was. The father was no doubt a broken, miserable man.
I don't even think money would have gotten him on the right track. But at the very least, it was a step forward for him to reconnect with his daughter. Really the saddest part is how Daisy and her father effectively made up, but never got to affirm that rekindled bond with each other.

Abuse is a cycle. The only "change" is money.

"My Dad loves me so its totally okay that he battered me everyday!" holy shit fuck right off with this writing. He was a worthless piece of shit and showed his true colours when his wife left him and lost his hand, only a true coward does that to his daughter.

The fact that Dorothy's father was killed the second he confessed wanting to change is fucked up. Combined with the fact Dorothy nor Beatrice knew anything about it whilst singing and enjoying their time at the pub just makes it worse.

This episode is Goddamn evil.

Oof this was just sad. I know you could call this a generic backstory but it was still executed well. Nice to get more life out of a character but unpleasant at the same time.
So she has the hang for drinks from her father.

Its hard for me to hate him, or rather to not feel bad for him and Dorothy. Because I absolutely despise this subhumans who beat children. Its still sad though. This was about to get better, everyone should atleast get the chance for redemption right?

Dorothy's father wasn't exactly the greatest person, but he did care for his daughter.

He thought that all his problems would be solved, but he ended up getting murdered in the process, and his daughter doesn't even know. That ending was sad to watch.

Holy shit, this episode was amazing, much better than ep 7 and 9 (I'm watching in chronological order).

Dorothy's father has mental issues but he did not deserve that ending. I felt like he wouldn't live after he went to the church.

Such a sad episode.

Really bittersweet episode, the ending where Dorothy and Beatrice were waiting for Dorothy's father at his favorite pub while her father's dead body was taken to the morgue was a depressing parallel there. Sure the father may have not been the best person on the planet and due to his accident, he lost his soul a bit and was stuck in miserable debt but despite all the bad habits, he still loved his daughter and wanted her to be safe and not just sold off like she only exists for money. I'm not quite the biggest fan of how all these missions feel like afterthoughts in the background, hell I forgot what the actual mission was about in the middle of the episode when they were just showing Dorothy's love-hate relationship with her father most of the time but it does characterize Dorothy at a better light and there were a ton of good moments too to make up for it.

Last episode it's Chise, and this one it's Dorothy, of whom her dad works at a morgue, devoid of his humanity.

Every person the Principal Team meets up with, kin or stranger, will be connected to the Duke of Normandy somehow, and money is the root of all evil. Just like the many others whom have made transactions with this heinous Duke, death is the only path awaiting for them.

Another sad episode...

A depressing way to end the episode. Credit to the show tho, it didn't end up playing that ending song which would have ruined the mood of the moment.

Felt to me like the show was trying to force the father to be as unlikeable as possible so that the ending would be far more emotional. I'd assume this worked for the most part. Not on me tho, but I did like the effect on Dorothy's character. That was well done.

I love the ED, but today it's just the credits. My appreciation goes through the roof when they understand that an upbeat or playful ED can ruin the somber tone that a certain episode may have set. It's just a small thing, just an omission, but it goes a long, long way.

Goddamn this episode, making me cry and shit in the middle of the night

Loved the art as usual, and the execution of the final scene (where it switches from the pub and the morgue) was just wow. It was so sad seeing Dorothy wait for her dad.. I wonder what happened after it became clear that he will never arrive at their meeting place?

Wait, so if her dad not tried to sell her... why was that loan shark sitting in front of the pub he wanted to meet his daughter? That's more than a small coincidence. Seems like it was just there to create a misunderstanding between Dorothy and her father, which had no effect in the end anyway. Weird.

To think I was expecting some kind of Anya-esque show from this, then it turned this dark.
I'm not complaining though.
