Hmm This was a great episode
With the new update the witches can now fight against each other to steal candies from them and stop them from ending up in last place.

Its ironic that Ruler was the one that got ousted in this episode
and that her subjects that she thought was loyal were the ones responsible
Funny that it was the near silent Swim swim that was responsible
Still at least the twins had their revenge.

Rulers real life persona though was a real piece of work
haughty, condescending and arrogant will never get you friends
Maybe its karma but she hot what she deserved

Fight scenes in this episode was good and seeing the actual combat as well
that was something

Swim swim was at least respectful to Ruler even though she didn't treat you well

Wonder who that girl that appeared in the last minutes is
anyway can't wait till next week

An enjoyable episode. I knew there would be a betrayal but didn't expect it to be this early. La pualla and snow white have become one dimensional so are my least favorite. Not really feeling the characters whatever the reason is (e.g story execution? writing? etc etc). Looking forward to seeing Witch and Ripple in action.

Ruler seemed like the kind of cardboard tsundere villain with useless subjects who would redeem herself in later episodes. Guess not lol, she was as serious as you can get. Did not expect her to die because I was not aware of the 'backstory = death flag" trope, but now I am.

Swim swim is just like 8 irl, kinda unrealistic coming up with this scheme but oh well, I suppose the twins were also involved in the planning.

Kinda excited about Alice, though it would've been better if they avoided the 'looking to hunt MC' cliche.

PS: How appropriate that La Pucelle's sword increases in size at will.

I don't watch as much anime as before...

Yeah, I could see Ruler's death coming as soon as they dropped the backstory, but I was very pleased by how they did it. I figured she'd get betrayed, but I did not see the Swim-Swim/Nemuru thing coming.

I'm kind of confused about what happened with Mary, though. Did she shoot Ruler? Were we supposed to know what her power is?

Swim Swim has become my favorite mahou shoujo so far, showing a depth and complexity of character absent from the others, comforting Tama and shedding tears for Ruler whom she thanked for everything Ruler had taught her about being a leader. Where did all that blood come from though upon Ruler's death? When a mahou shoujo loses her ability to transform she sustains physical damage without a healing ability so I wonder if all the blood surrounding Ruler's body had something to do with her first encounter with Calamity Mary seen in flashback?

Swim Swim's betrayal of Ruler seemed imminent but I didn't expect it so soon. The way it was revealed that Nemurin had entered Swim Swim's dream to advise her that she could become a princess instead of always admiring one was a nice touch. Though the anime seemed at first predictable there have been some interesting surprises.

I didn't expect nor want Ruler to die. She was a lost soul, and her perspective was one soured by experience. Someone like her has the room to become an outstanding individual, especially with a reasonable intelligence. She was a person bottling up a lot of emotions and taking them out on others like many humans do, it is not a state of insanity, and is far from irreparable. Her despising useless idiots is not unjustified, incompetent ignorant people cause many world problems and problems for individuals. That said, her final decision on how to split the points was her fatal mistake.

Ruler ends up a victim of Swim Swim's confused dogmatism and influenced corruption; for being such a pure blank slate who was forged into what she was by the words of others.

If anyone should have died, it's those angel twins, who're legitimately insane and remorselessly self-serving.

I was hoping that Snow White's insurmountable goodness could have converted Ruler. Snow White doesn't realize how strong she is, and people are dying because of it.

Ps: i get the feeling that the writer of this series doesn't fully understand death.

Really enjoyed this episode. Outside of some minor typical(A bit too typical) dialogue and background story it was very well done. The fight was fairly cool, didn't leave me on the edge of my seat though.
The more minor characters got some cool development I would say. Ruler, I really liked her even if her personality was bad.
But man Who knew Swim-swim was actually that little girl. I knew something was off when Ruler was in that girl's dream in episode 2. Or was it 3? I forget.
But man she liked Ruler too based on her tears which kind of makes me feel a bit sad.

This is very well done. Since the main characters did lose, she would of died. To prevent that, they had a cope d'etat which allowed her to survive.
I have seen many series where some BS 'villain sparing the MC' plot. This is a very good believable alternative. Definitely had me wondering how they can keep her alive.
I thought Fav might of made it illegal(but I would of called BS on that) to just steal, even though it is heavily implied that is the point :/

Well, just from last episode, it was all but guaranteed that it would be a member of Ruler's group that goes. A full success killing Snow White, while a pleasant surprise if done, was unlikely given how an alternate lead wasn't even hinted at. La Pucelle dying would work out better, but the methods of doing that are much weaker since she's not being targeted directly, and her death right now has little value to the story. This left only three real probabilities: they fail and Tama, who's been shown to be terrible at getting candies, dies. The plan fails or only partially succeeds and Ruler spitefully leaves someone out of the distribution of candies (likely Tama again), or Ruler is betrayed by one or more of her "followers," whom she treats like crap. Looks like it was #3.

That being said, I liked how it went down, even if I'm not too keen in introducing the character's background just before killing them off - if it gets done too often, it'll get real old real fast. I'd have preferred we had a few more episodes to build up on that and the other girls' attitudes before the betrayal. Her backstory made what was going to happen to her completely obvious - she has no regard for anybody but herself and a serious superiority complex, in and out of the game. Of course nobody's going to like her, and even the slightest chance she gives for a betrayal is likely to end in one.

However, I was a little disappointed in that the idea of La Pucelle transferring a portion of her candies was never broached. Unless this was done right before the end of the time period, that option was always there. After all, La Pucelle should have a rather high total herself just piggybacking off of Snow White.

If this obvious idea ever gets broached, I expect it to be that if two or more people are tied for last place, both (or all) of them kick the bucket.

okay, maybe not steal, since she can bullshit her way out. after all, she didn't stole ALL the candies, and she can reason out with her wanting Ruler dead.

... Actually this is a good question. She could have killed Snow now and betray Ruler later. Snow will of course put her guard thanks to this.

This was a golden opportunity. There was never any guarantee Ruler would leave herself that open again, so this could very well be her best chance. Based on Ruler's plan, there was almost no way for Ruler to actually counter without being aware of the betrayal beforehand. Killing Snow White would have passed up this golden opportunity.

Moreover, Swim Swim has no personal beef with Snow White, and therefore no reason to go after her, at least at this point. Getting rid of ruler was actually the only thing of importance to Swim Swim here.

Chess, not checkers...

Even if she didn't kill Snow this week, we're talking about a girl with the ability to hear who needs help. That directly aligns with the candy collection method. Even without knowing that, if Swim knew that she as a newbie was able to collect 50,000 where her and the others had numbers ranging from the hundreds to low 2,000's, Snow should have been seen as a threat.

Showing mercy to someone with that many candies is pretty much running the risk of offering her a free safe spot every week...a safe spot that her own team (or even Swim herself) may need in the future. Add onto that the fact that she has a partner that she could share with and still be comfortable in one of the top spots.

If I'm Swim, I'm knocking out two birds with one stone while the time is ripe. After that, the main focus would be taking her out of the running for good.

Letting Snow live is fine, albeit somewhat risky, but showing her mercy is going to bite Swim back in the longrun. If not her directly, then someone on her team.

I don't know, maybe Swim has something else up her sleeve...but I think this was just a poor decision on her part. On top of that, she's spreading the love and giving candies to people outside of her team.

the lack of LN explanation and skipping is what's making this convoluted. Maybe the option of killing two people in one week isn't present?

If so, then she had to decide whether to kill Snow or Ruler now. Ruler did backstab them THIS week, so I guess the choice is clear for her.

Boom! In one episode they blew up the story tenfold. It was great to watch.

First Snow White and La Pucelle finally realize just how twisted and dangerous this game can be. Was expecting a little more than freezing her in place and making her watch as they take her candies away, but it was still a lesson learned. People will want you dead if they find you in their way.

Second we have a new Queen in town. Swim's desire to become the leader of her pack is well and good, but I cannot stand her crocodile tears. She was the one who instigated the plan to usurp Ruler's throne, she should not be crying tears in front of her corpse at the end (unless she was inwardly hiding an evil smile). The way I see it, she does have some smarts, but I doubt she'll last till the end. She just simply doesn't know what exactly it is she needs to do to survive, nor do I feel that she had the temperament to go full blown evil. She and her crew are just waiting to die at this point, unless they get assimilated into another smarter team.

Third is the beginning of the alliance talks, which is fun in itself because we get to see who wants to pair up with whom. It kind of reminds me of the death game in Btooooom, where only 4 of 32 players can survive, and we end up having multiple factions, each with their own unique skill sets. Each looking to kill the other teams. Looking forward to seeing just how each team will function.

Lastly, that new magi-girl (I'm assuming here) that appeared in the end seems to be looking for Snow White from the off. Makes me wonder why and just what her relationship with Snow White will be.

Poor wording on my part. They kill one of them a week, I'm aware. When I said "take all of Snow's candies", what I meant was bringing her down as low as she could without ruining the plan to take Ruler out. She left her with half of her candies, which is still a significantly larger amount than what her team has. There was plenty more candy to take and she had mercy on her.

About Ruler dying. I kinda saw that coming too. Apparently someone's never heard the phrase "the quiet ones are the most deadly". Ruler got what was coming to her and quiet frankly, I'm glad she's dead. Annoying as hell IRL and in the game.

4/5 due to Trap failing to kill those twins when "she" had the chance to do so or at least one of them. How sad. They'll die but we could've had 3 of them die here as none of them were interesting to care about. So far we have the sleepy cute girl and a really annoying bitch die. 6 more left. Also someone is looking for Snow White, mysterious or predictable? Guess we'll find out in the next one.

I don't blame them for betraying Ruler. She was cruel, and a bully. I don't care how tough of a life she had, or whatever. No excuse. She manipulated them and constantly looked down on them. It's no wonder they turned on her. Had she been a little kinder to them, things could have been different.

On another note, Calamity Mary is a scary woman. Ruler stood no chance against her.

Interested in seeing where Swim Swim goes from her. She might end up being the scariest.

Dang, what an episode! So Ruler's the type of person who wants to do big things but is pretty much unable to do so because of her circumstances ... welp. Her power certainly fits her too. The plan would have worked ... if they didn't betray her! Though I think just ordering Snow White to transfer all her candies herself would have been a better order lol :P So Swim and the Angels were in on upsetting her position, and I'm surprised that this time she just died! :O It seemed bloody too, not like the last time ... and wow, so that was Swim in the dream all along?! I didn't see that one coming! I mean if you think about it that dream was basically what got her to do everything in the first place ... and even in the end she still "honours" Ruler's words by doing what she would've done, and even cries at the end. Man, I guess the lesson is: never underestimate those "idiots" around you :P Either way, things are heating up. We have the new 16th girl joining (who seems a bit obsessed with Snow White), and I wonder what Mary was doing with Ruler? :O Hmm, she's another character I'm very interested in ... guess we'll have to wait and see :P

But I don't know yet which the other girls could be.

Interesting... I'm not seeing which girl lines up with which sin either though.
greed-?
gluttony-Calamity Mary?
lust-?
wrath-?

I didn't think Swim would participate in a plot to assassinate Ruler, even with Nemu's encouragement. She just seemed too loyal. I'm assuming episode 4 is supposed to convince us that Swim wasn't loyal, she was just interpreting Ruler's advice literally, even when that interpretation leads her to kill Ruler. Swim seems... way too impressionable, even for her age.

Also, the plot to kill Ruler could have failed so easily, they're lucky it even worked. If Ruler had bothered to redistribute the 2088 "stolen" candies before the deadline, she wouldn't have been the one in last place. Also, if Snow White wasn't ahead by tens of thousands of candies, there might not have been enough stolen candy to push every girl ahead of Ruler.

Aside, Top Speed says Fav sent them "nearly" 2000 candies, but 25000 / 12 is more than 2000. O.o? (12 = 16 - Nemu - Ruler - La Pucelle - Snow White)

Well fuck, there goes another villainous type girl who had a potential to change to good.

Yeah, I get it she's being a bitch, but the fact she's being a bitch is the point that she can change to a better character in the future. And yes, the moment they showed her flashback, we know who's gonna get the fucking death flag, but heck that was too soon for her to die for a great character like her. They could've made her death more meaningful and emotional as she's the reason that carried the fucking TEAM.

Wish she got more screentime, or better more interaction on other magical girls, especially when she and Top Speed met, cuz that shit was adorable.

If anything, Calamity Mary should be the one first to die. (Jk, At first she was cool, then I find her annoying now, repetitively threatening other magical girls without showing some kind of motive ffs.)

Swim Swim was a good disciple of Ruler. It's great, that Ruler got her comeuppance. And it's nice, that she spared Snow White. I'm starting to like her.

It's messed up that a little girl devised a conspiracy to murder though. And apparently Ruler's death wasn't as peaceful as Nemurin's.

Really intense episode, with the battle and the anticipation after all the candies were stolen. I didn't expect Ruler to be the one to die, but considering how she treated everyone, I'm not surprised that her underlings set up a coup to defeat her. Although how was Swim-Swim able to transfer all the candies to Tama so quickly when it took her a while to steal them from Snow White?

goddamn it they killed of Ruler to damn soon, I really enjoyed every scene she was in. Also Tama looked soo devastated, I wonder if we'll get to know how she felt about Ruler in later episodes. Maybe she cared for Ruler despite the way she treated her.

Yeah, she was one of my fav girls so far, seems like the dreams girl had more influence after her death than she ever though to have...

Actually glad she died in the end, being a huge b*tch to anyone and even going to that extend... well looking forwards to see what's next.

Well Ruler is dead, wasn't expecting it to happen so soon. I wonder who the new girl at the end is.

I really don't like how they revealed Swim Swim's identity so early. The reveal came later in the book, and it was really shocking... I liked the foreshadowing with the dream, but I feel like it should've been left as a mystery for a bit longer.

if you treat people like garbage, expect to be backstabbed. Unfortunately, Ruler was too arrogant to expect her underlings to do a backstab.. so death. And even before becoming a mahou shoujo, Ruler seems to have a mental disorder of some sort.. her arrogance is on the extreme level.

Souta would have probably killed the twins and the dog girl if it was a fight to the death. He's surprisingly strong.

Snow White is mentally weak. She needs someone to white knight for her.

And Top Speed is dumb as expected... being surprised by the candy giveaway - as compared to Ripple who understood what happened right away.
