Why was this episode considered as filler by MAL ? It happened in manga.

Great episode.

"Both of your schools are occasionally considered powerhouses, right?"

Lmao, that backhanded compliment.

The rise of Tsukishima. Can't wait.

Because there are a lot of people that don't actually know what fillers are.

This episode was SO good! ♥

So much development. Flashback was so good. I really liked seeing another side to Tsukishima and why he's so cold/harsh now. Yamaguchi is such a sweetheart.

Everything about this episode was so good.

Yamaguchi been cool for a while now ~ . Worth the years of being friends ~ .
Wrong. It is not just a club . ITS .. THE KARASUNO VOLLEYBALL TEAM CLUB .
Or not !? haha .. I guess it's not cliche enough . Anyways , It is the pure joy of having your opponent gets crush by your own hands ~ . Volleyball is FUN .
The Sun and The Moon ~ . "Hi" means Sun , "Tsuki" means Moon .

actually i do understand what tsukishima goes through in this episode. he's been disappointed in the past and he figured that the one he admired was only just a fake.
it's difficult to muster up strength to overcome something that you have been through in your past.

Loved the "oyaya" part. Or something like that.

I guess I finally started to like Tsukishima? It's high time after that many eps.
This tension is a little bit tiring now. I hope everything will be fine soon.

I think this might be my overall favorite episode in the series.
The whole thing with Tsukki's brother was so sad, and I can kind of get on board with his mind set. There is always someone better, but losing is something that even the best of the best have to contend with.

After all, it's not like they all play Volleyball for the sole purpose of winning- it's just like Bokuto was saying.
Speaking of, him and Kuroo just got like at least 100x more interesting in these last 2 episodes.

Also loved the Sun and Moon analogies as well.

Always liked Tsukishima's cool and laid-back attitude but it's awesome seeing him evolve aswell, giving the other captain a fright so he couldnt attack full-on :D

This show is such a chore to watch I don't know if I can take anymore. I'm only 8 episodes through and I already can't wait for it be over. I don't know if I have the willpower to force myself though 17 more episodes of this.

Easily one of, if not my favorite episode of the season. Wow! That final scene has to be one of my favorites in the series. The music paired with the demonic art and the meaning of it for Tsukki, Hinata, and Yamaguchi made it give me shivers. He scared Bokuto. Made him not go for the straight. My gosh. The scene where Yamaguchi confronts Tsukki was a masterpiece too and oh my gosh the backstory was heartbreaking. Seeing the brother lie and lie for Tsukki's image of him to stay, but also to stay for himself never admitting he can't do it, only to meet eye to eye on their final match when he's not even in the game. That hurt! This was a masterpiece of an episode!

Tsukki's self-defeating and passive attitude is clear and understandable now too. His very own brother who he looked up to tried his heart out and failed. It's a method to avoid pain and becoming something like him. When they locked eyes and Tsukki referred to him as lame when he was the only person he showed care and respect for, now putting his brother on the tier of kids bullying another crying kid, I broke internally. Everything made sense. Not only that, but his brother lost to the little giant, and now Tsukki is on a team with the new little giant in the same position as his brother once was. It had to bring up memories and regret.

Tsukki was really nice to Yamaguchi hanging out with him and asking if he wanted to see his brothers game with him. You don't see that kind of consideration from him often. Ever since a young age, Yamaguchi was in his shadow and this is the first time Tsukki's acted as something Yamaguchi finds despicable or pathetic rather than cool and something he aspires to. So, I'm glad Hinata pushed him to be decisive and help out. It was a good way to knock Tsukki out of his self-defeating mentality, for someone who's always wanted to be cool like you being the one to show you how pathetic you're being. And obviously Tsukki couldn't ask his own team for help but he was able to at least go talk to the more distant other teams for help. I loved Bokuto's discussion on playing the game to crush those in front of you by the way.

And finally the final scene. Tsukki was pushed out of his rut. He may not be entirely out of it but he's been given enough reason to at least try and enjoy the game. And he's already chasing after Bokuto. Scaring Bokuto with that demonic looking jump to a point that he runs from him. I love that he didn't stop the point. Him scaring Bokuto as he did was even better. And the episode ends with him staring down Hinata! Declaring that he's going to actually try in this war without any words, at least for a bit. SUN VS MOON!!!

Excellent ep :) Yamaguchi pushed out of his shell and made his first confident decision in his life with Hinata's inspiration to thusly inspire Tsukki to give this trying thing a shot as he was exposed to his own hypocrisy by the only person close enough to do it to him. Yamaguchi has been practicing so hard despite being so weak he couldn't not let him know how it is. And finally, this means Tsukki will now be challenging Hinata, making their relationship far tenser. I bet he'll want to beat the little giant this time for himself and his brother.

Now, I'm regretting hating Tsuki in the previous episode. It's so good that I finally get to see his side of the story and it was totally heartbreaking. Further, this gave me the anticipation of what more he has to offer in the Karasuno team.

Let's see the showdown between the Sun (Hinata) and Moon (Tsuki). :)

One of the best episodes I've ever seen. Tsuki, being betrayed by his brother, hating the game and refusing to practice becomes an absolute badass after realising what it means to compete.

The OST was absolutely amazing too :O

and now tsukishima's arc done, really well done. the amount of working on characters in haikyuu is great. that flashback really hit me.

now, would the series move on to more "burning issues"?

Tsukki's backstory was emotional and I hope we get more of it later on. I still need to know what happened after Tsukki realised the truth. It was sad to see his brother lying. The result of weight of expectations and pride.

The scene with Yamaguchi confronting Tsukki was really good!

Tsukki's defeatist attitude makes sense after this. But I am glad he is going to try to improve!

Bokuto's explanation for why he loves Volleyball was childish and great. That one moment where your efforts pay off and you crush the opponents in front of you!

The moon can be visible during the day too, when the sun is up :)

I loved the last scene with Tsukki forcing Bokuto to change his mind and feint. Of course Tsukki still hasn't completely come out of his shell but he is trying. Excellent episode overall!
