Are you sure because I don't remember them finding that out. I'm sure Shinichi knew but didn't divulge it with the police. Why weren't they on the lookout for Hirokawa during the siege then?

That is one of the scene madhouse choose to cut, if you read chapter 44 you will get the answer, it is one of the many scenes madhouse have cut/changed, because they are doing one less 1 minute per episode compared to other anime, and 24 episodes instead of 25 :-/

Oh you're right. Very strange to leave it out because it would only take like 5 seconds of animation.

Finally Shinichi is doing what he always wanted, helping humans to identify and find a way to erradicate parasites. I just hope he doesn't get hurt along the way.
Really smart ideia! Gather groups of people and try to identify the parasites by looking at the whole skeleton. Of corse they won't hace a skull since they cut off the human head. Genius x) Why only now? I guess this is the product of a few month's investigation.

Wtf, five minute episodes! Haha I'm surprised that Shinichi accepted to help even with the police having that guy that can sense parasites. But u guess this sensory ability isn't as great as Kana's?

I think I'm gonna wait for the last five episodes to air and then marathon it. I feel like most anime are better to be marathoned. Especially with how bad my memory is haha

Uragami's ability is exactly the same as Kana's -- he can detect parasites. However, he is under the false impression that what he can detect are murderers/"monsters", since he is a murderer/"monster" himself. He doesn't know about parasites, but perhaps he's heard rumors
Then why does Uragami not detect Migi when Shin'ichi enters the room/vehicle with the monitor screen?

Migi was asleep, and parasites send low signals when asleep. Also the abilities of some humans to detect parasites are not as advanced at the level of parasites. For example parasites can tell apart individual parasites by signal alone, while humans like Kana can not. Uragami and Kana have detected only parasites that were awake and sending strong signals.

You are sure Migi was asleep when Shin'ichi calls on Migi a only a few minutes afterwards while Uragami is still in the same room?

Yes because Shinichi mention Migi was asleep at the beginning of the episode. Also Migi did not wake up until Shinichi was on the bed in the hotel. Migi didn't even know about Uragami until Shinichi told him that he met a scary human when Migi was asleep.

...So they're just going to exterminate the parasites now? I feel like I'm missing something.

The whole progression of the show is parasites come -> Shinichi becomes more like a parasite -> parasites die.

That's it?

I'm not sure what the point of this story is. Anyone who thinks they know (without spoiling), feel free to explain.

No, after that, when they are at the town hall with the "X-ray" scanners and they are both in the vehicle looking at the screen with the CGI people. Shin'ichi talks to Migi only a few minutes after they entered and Uragami is in the room as well.

You're right, but we shouldn't consider this one a plot hole just yet. Because
-We no longer saw Uragami in the room after Shinichi talked to Migi. So it's possible (if unlikely) that Migi woke up just after Uragami left.
-If Uragami never actually left the room, he might have been able to come to terms with the fact that Shinichi might be a "monster" just like himself. Uragami must have retained his calm Remember, he never actually lost his shit when he felt other "monsters" nearby, so maybe he's just calm.
-If both of these theories fail, here's a question for you:

What's he looking at?

I never considered it a plot hole. I was just thinking Uragami didn't have a signal-sensing ability like Kana's. At this rate, I don't see a reason why he would have left the room, but Migi having been asleep and waking up at such a convenient interval seems a bit absurd (although still possible).

Of course, assuming he does have the sensing ability, naturally, the next episode will show him detect the Migi if he is still in the room.

As for the look there, it could easily be just looking over Hirama's shoulder at Shin'ichi. If he had a signal-sensing ability, he shouldn't need to look at all (unless he detects the signals through his eyesight for whatever reason).

It's still difficult to see how he doesn't have the signal-sensing ability though. We have a handful of evidence to support that he does, and I don't think it's a good idea to suddenly introduce new kinds of abilities this late in the series.

Sure, he doesn't have to look at the source of the strange aura he's feeling, but doing so would nonetheless be the natural reaction. Oh well, if he was merely looking over Hirama's shoulder, that would put some pretty serious questions so let's just hope it all becomes clear next ep.

I was looking forward for this episode because of the cliffhanger in the previous episode, but it was all for nothing. I thought they will have some doubts to Shinichi and have an eye on him, like in the Death Note. Damn it, I miss Death Note so much T^T
Going back to the story, I'm hoping that waiting for the next episode won't disappoint me. I think it's too sudden to hunt for the parasite, they thought of it out of the blue, but I guess it's the perfect time to hunt them down because it's only 5 episodes left to wrap it all up.

What I'm looking forward the most is their battle with Gotou, it'll be breathtaking.

What is the role of Uragami btw? It seems like he's just a filler character.

It doesn't have to really be an ability, just like an instinct where he can tell something's off. Apparently he identifies parasites by looking into their eyes or their head, at least. But why would he have to when he could detect a parasite from just sensing the signal? Like he should be able to pick it up through walls he can't see behind since the waves don't get obstructed by matter.

What I'm saying is he doesn't seem to detect a parasite and then look at it, but instead, looks at a parasite in order to detect it.

I think it's clear enough, It was something like "take one to know one" ability. Basically because he plays with human too much, he know something essential that human naturally has, but when he didn't feel the same when looking at parasyte. It's not like Kana's signal sensing ability.

For his reaction, well that's a spoiler.

There is definitely a point to this story.
It will be explained at the ending, through Shinichi's own monologue. Without giving away any spoilers.

A hint is that it has something to do with Tamura Reiko's parasite is saying before she (or it?) gets killed. What the serial killer is saying in his own thoughts. Also another hint in the next episode, when shit hits the fan.

Assuming the anime will follow through entirely on the manga, which it seems like it will.
Though if you're expecting something that progresses the story's plot like on the parasite's origins...

Goddamnit, Izumi-Kun Chan. You're taking up precious screen time again.

As for killing parasites, I don't see what is so difficult about it, as long as they are not up close in your face. Shoot them in the body and they should die like normal humans.

It bugged me how the parasite in the school was able to withstand so many bullets to the torso area, same with Tamura Reiko.

For Christ sake already!! The damn anime went to the whole fucking trouble showing you a flashback of the murderer guy just to show that he doesn't have the ability Kana had to pick-up signals. Kana had managed to get the sense the parasites themselves have when feeling each other(just at not their level). This guy does not.
He was saying how he has no special ability and how he can just tell the are not human by seeing them because he knows humans too well. If he had sensory abilities he wouldn't need to see them and see they move behave and look unnatural. He would sense them without even seeing them. That was the WHOLE fucking point of that flashback.

So I guess I'll ask here instead of starting a new thread: What do people enjoy about this show?

Honestly, I can't figure it out. I'm all caught up but so far this show has yet to grasp me, and the writing certainly isn't helping. This feels almost on-par with the writing level of Shingeki which I also wasn't much of a fan of.

The female characters of the show are intolerable. Of the ones we've had, they've only been love interests and the mother was barely touched upon. I can't find any reason to root for Shinichi. He just seems like an ordinary normal Japanese teenager, reacting as anyone would in his situation. There's nothing that seems to separate him from any other male anime teenage boy. He's the most interesting when his "Migi" personality takes over, but other than that he comes across as a pretty standard teenager. Also it feels like the parasites come across as mostly incompetent, as if they did jack shit research on humans before they arrived on Earth. I'm not clear on their intentions and they come across as cartoonishly villains, devoid of empthy or feeling. Just plain evil.

Not trying to come off as a dick and say anyone's taste is shit or whatever. If you enjoy this, I'm not here to try and stop you, but to simply understand what people see in this show. That's all and any reasonable responses are appreciated.

Can't agree more. To me, the show had a great start, showing how an person can be hypocrite about what's right and what isn't. But then, most of characters don't show any emotion at all and honestly I can't feel the parasytes as dangerous beings, I just see then as "serial killers that don't react or have any carisma", and well, it's boring most at the times.

If wasn't for Migi, I've already stopped watching.

Well, I did say in a previous post that I thought he might be be under the false impression that what he can detect are mere murderers/"monsters" like himself. In other words, I thought he actually has the parasite-detection ability that Kana had, but like Kana, he didn't know that he actually detects parasites. Similar to how Kana thought she could only detect Shinich, Uragami thought he could only detect murderers.

The flashback doesn't make it clear. (To me, at least, since I haven't read the manga.) What it did is to make it even more confusing since it could still go both ways. Saying that he could tell apart natural and unnatural human behavior didn't sound convincing enough to me. There are always highly eccentric people whose behavior is unpredictable. Moreover, in one scene where he was maniacally laughing after he murdered a woman, he seems to have reacted to a tiny parasite spore falling from the sky. It could be that he saw it falling. It could also be that he didn't see such a tiny object from a considerable distance, but rather "sensed" it. It could go either way.

Moreover, Migi was asleep during Shinichi's and Uragami's first encounter so if anything, that also made things more ambiguous. It could be that he sensed a weak signal from Migi, who was asleep at the time. It could also be that he sensed that Shinichi is no ordinary human. (After all, he has some of Migi's cells distributed throughout his body).

His lack of reaction during their second encounter is the strongest evidence so far in favor of his lack of signal-detection. However, there is still the possibility that he kept his reaction to himself. We weren't exactly shown what he was thinking at the time.

So there. You're probably right in thinking that he doesn't have the signal the detection, but confirming this would still be a spoiler at this point in the anime.

I'm not sure if I understood what was going on with that serial killer. Is he able or not to detect parasytes with an ability similar to Kana? Or is it that ''hostility'' that Reiko was talking about?

The fact that the mayor look so human creeps me out.

Uragami's method of detecting parasites is different from Kana's. Kana was able to pick up on the telepathic signals that the parasites use to communicate, whereas Uragami picks up more on the body language that the parasites display, noting inhuman tendencies that the parasites exhibit.

That was close in the beginning. I thought Uragami would think that Shinichi's a parasite, but he said the latter isn't. But he imagined that Shinichi's eyes are something different. Hamura was slightly suspicious to Shinichi because of that statement. So Uragami was caught by the police for the crime he didn't commit.

So Shinichi and Murano started to bond at each other again. 10.5 seconds, wow. Shinichi is badass. So his friends noticed his scar on his chest. So Hamura ruined Shinichi x Murano moment when he appeared, saying they will 99.9% win. Murano made a speech, replying to him that Shinichi wasn't the only one who's affected by the incident, but also others. "Why is it always him?". Yeah right.

Dat military and sensors. Of course, Shinichi and Uragami were recruited. The mayor acted like a human... creeps me out. The first person to be detected as a parasite was a woman. I'm expecting a big battle soon.

Dat cliffhanger. Awesome episode! I can't wait for the next. Only 5 episodes left. I don't want this series to end soon, but that's life.
