----------------------------------------
Finally, it's subbed. Well, that didn't take long.

I thought the second movie was more of a set up so I expected this to end the trilogy. The movie is about 68 minutes. The movie starts out at BlueEgg Casino which I wasn't surprised about. The casino scenes/game took more than I had thought though and concluded after 30 minutes.

As I had thought though, Rune is never safe anywhere, not even on the road. Dat road battle. I also feel a bit sorry for Rune Ballot because she doesn't even care about her own life at one point in this film not that I'm surprised.

But yeah, I guess is over. I wasn't too impressed with it though. 6/10.

Yea the casino scene took longer than I would had liked. While not exactly it seems as if it's the last half of the second and 1st half of third. The final showdown was decent and overall I thought the animation for the films was above average. I haven't read the novels, but I am sure they probably have more detail of the events, I would love to hear from someone who has. This was suppose to be an OVA series so it makes you think that there might have been more planned at some point, but they never got to add it due to having to produce a film trilogy.

Still my favorite of the 3 was the 1st one and I kind of got lost after that with things pertaining to the story. I mean I got the general ideas, but I feel as if I missed the subtle details in it to make it better. I liked it due to the GITS vibe it gave off though it never lived up to what I feel it could have been. Maybe I missed something I will have to re watch the 3 together sometime.

Spoiler
I have a question about the ending maybe someone got. What happens to Oeufcoque at the end? I mean it basically ends with them driving off into the sunset I got the feeling he was hurt? I kept expecting something at the very end, but got nothing. Balot's case was closed, but the way the doctor talked they still had some work to do together? Did Balot and Oeufcoque just run off together? Didn't really get the ending maybe I missed something or else it was a little anticlimactic. There was a decent end battle, but that was it.

Didn't really mind the Casino scene lasting half an hour, I think they did it mostly to pay homage to the novel, where it probably seemed a lot more exciting. I'm guessing people that actually know some shit about gambling found it more interesting. The second half however was pretty awesome. The execution could have been a little more subtle, but its just nice to see this type of story again in anime. I'm so tired of the same SoL highschool BS over and over.

Not to mention the best part of the movies, the incredible animation and char designs. Seriously even if GoHands goes on to make some awful shit from here on (even though Coppelion looks like its gonna be pretty awesome), they just took a shit on pretty much all modern animation companies with the stuff they put into movie the only recent thing that can even compare is SnK on good days and even then it can never be as filterific as Mardock. Not to mention the great atmosphere, all the anime nowadays go for either a comedic or overly-dramatic atmosphere, nice to see something a little different. Anyway my favorite of the 3 movies. Enjoyed them all a lot of though 9/10.

This is it, the series is over. If you want more, you could always check out the original novel or manga, both have been officially released in America. I know I will be checking out the novel.

This is the last story of the series that I know of. I haven't gotten far into the novel itself (I only read the first story and a little bit of the second), but it does go into great detail. As far as I can tell, the anime has stayed true to the novel (with the exception of Shell's appearance). Out of curiosity, I read the last three pages of The Third Exhaust.

Novel spoiler

I concur; I would like to see a follow up story, but I guess it depends if Tow Ubukata decides to write one.

I enjoyed the series, though the casino part seemed to drag on a fair amount. Also, the camera was pulled back so far it was hard for me to see what cards were being played at times (and I'm watching this on a 42" TV). Then we finally get back to the real action, and find out why the big bad is the way he is. Turns out he was raped by his mom just like Balot was by her dad, and all of Shell's victims were the same way. Pretty harsh storytelling but it's a nice divergence from the high-school SoL stuff that fills the market these days.

I was wondering whether Oeufcoque was injured myself, but I think it was just grief from seeing Boiled die. I did think it was a little pointless that Balot made such a big deal about not killing him, then was forced into acting as his executioner anyway.

7/10, 8/10 for the movie series as a whole (movie 1 was 9/10, movie 2 was 8/10)

Man, I'm going to miss this film series. GoHands is probably one of the best animation studios out there in terms of production values and style. I really wish they made more TV series. I'm glad Mardock Scramble has a novel as its source material. K was one hell of a disappointment for its lack of a developed story, but hopefully Coppelion will be better.

It was one hell of a ride. 8/10

7/10 for me. I felt they needed a bit more action and the casino scene could have been chopped down quite a bit (when you add up the times from both movies the casino scene was a movie by itself.)

The beginning of this movie series was awesome but near the end of the second movie and the start of this one something really off road happened or well something that didn't feel right in this whole settings... while the second part of this movie was still enjoyable and full of action it still lacked the proper buildup that was present in the first movie! All by all not a bad but it could've been better.

I never was so entertained by casion stuff than in this show.

I thought the Casino scene where they talk about being stranded and setting up the scenarios was interesting. Kind of reflected on Balots life to that point and probably many others. At times though I felt a bit confused, maybe it's because it's been a while since I saw the last one. Overall I give it a 7/10. It was entertaining, but I felt like at times the plot went off on some tangents (and certain parts felt pretty rushed.)

Great series! By far my favorite work from GoHands until now. The plot is pretty dark and sad and I like this kind of set.

Apart from the action, what I liked most in this last movie was the conversation in the casino, I would say quite fantastic!

9/10 for the last movie and 8/10 overall

nicely wrapped up and one of the most beautiful pieces of animation i've ever had the pleasure to watch (all that intense film grain and those breathtaking over-saturated colors)......great trio of films overall: finely captured the darkness and light in all of us - my only gripe is i wish it were longer! this one i give a 9 o' 10 to........

It's been a while since I watched the other two movies and I almost forgot what they were in the casino for in the first place.

They spent half the movie on blackjack and then crammed the rest into the remaining half. Pacing was very inconsistent. I think they just stopped caring about these movies after the first 2 didn't do so well and ended up saving some money with the blackjack half.

I think this set of movies really suffered from a lack of focus. They were trying to throw around too many different themes and ideas that didn't tie together very well.

Action was good. GoHands animation budgets are always high.

Very crazy stuff that I was impressed. The casino, action, and everything was so awesome. Good ending. Worth the wait.

Not bad at all. I think some are falsely criticized because they can't remember the plot exactly from the other two but that's their fault, they should just have re-watched the first two if they can i remember like i did despite remembering. Personally I liked this trilogy although i have to say i was slightly disappointed that the first wasn't over-topped by this.
It was good but i think the first movie was still better and the second probably the weakest.

That's not what i think happened. If i understood correctly then Balot did nothing and Oeufcoque was the one who shot by himself. Oeufcoque killed Boiled after getting pressured by Boil to do so. That's why in the end Balot seem to want to comfort him.

A lot of people didn't like the length of the casino part, but i honestly loved that, i love that type of thing lol.

I'm glad the deal with shell turned out decent, i do like balot as a character a lot.

I like the ending with oeufcoque grieving for boiled.

That guy is sick with those children...

Anyways 9/10 - great movies imo, though it could have had better closure.

Let me contribute to the cliche and say the casino sequence was way too goddamn long. Also some really awful dialogue in there about "seeing through my shuffle" and "talking to the cards" like it was a kiddie trading-card show. I suppose it was trying to do a metaphor with gambling and life (prominence of chance, skillful techniques make you more successful, people are trying to cheat you) but it wasn't handled very well and distracted from the actually interesting stuff for, again, way too goddamn long.

I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this movie to be (1) longer, and (2) have more action.

Not that I didn't enjoy the casino suspense, but too much time was spent on content that should have been in the previous movie.

The 2nd half was what I was expecting for this movie.

The "memories" part... well they should have taken some notes from eva. I just don't think that it was done as well as it could have been. It was way too short and left me a "big deal" aftertaste.

The final battle with Boiled was nice.

A beautifully done series of films. I feel like the manga might at fleshed out some of the bits by the end some more, which I suppose makes sense since was based off this and had room to embellish. I'm satisfied with the way things concluded and I think one of the characters I felt the most for was Boiled. What a badass way to deal with the fight after having lost both a leg and arm.

Damn, that quote really hit the mark! XD Well it seems to me, he can actually be a likable guy. Also according to Ashley, you need at least any of the following to survive: knowledge, friends and luck , I think Rune-Balot got those three in spades after she was revived.

WTH? Shell was raped by his own mother? As if that wasn't enough, Shell's potential father-in-law raped his own daughter then actually planned for Shell to kill her, and finally got caught red-handed with 6 half-naked kids no less! I almost punched my monitor when he said it was private property, he maybe referring to the hotel suite but the first thing that came to my mind was the children! >_< @#$%

This series makes a lot of reference to eggs...Oeufcoque, Humptee, Balot (it's a Filipino duck egg delicacy), Shell, Boiled, Dr. Easter, Scramble. XD Anyway, I forgot what I was expecting when I started watching this because I was too absorbed in it, so 8/10 for this movie, and the series overall.

Given how short these movies were, I felt that the casino portion took up too much of its time and wish there had been more action sequences. It's not to say that I just wanted mindless action, but it would've been nice to see a few more scenes like Boiled vs Balot at the end.

However, I did like the heartfelt talk between the older man and Balot during the game of Blackjack. It wasn't necessarily supposed to send a philosophical message, but I felt it brought a new perspective to the table in regards to luck and I really liked how they tied Balot wrestling over the past and withdrawing from the game as a "total victory."

The story behind Shell was a fascinating one. Initially I was expecting him to have some shallow sob story, but the way they executed it brought more layers to his motives. This might be wrong but from what I gathered, his memory lost caused any memories installed into his mind to seem like nothing more than dreams. However, this left a gap in him and caused a psychological instability, which drove him to murder women in order to fill the gap of the memory he had of killing his mother.

Well damn, when Balot barged into the big guy's room I was expecting a harem but...well shit, it's Penn State all over again.

I felt this movie really did deliver, but I didn't feel as invested into this or the previous one as I did the first one. I did like the psychological growth of Balot and how she faced her past. A 7 or 8/10 for this movie.

As a whole, this trilogy was jam packed with lots of fucked up themes and characters, and although some of it was questionable (like the dolphin fucking brother), I felt like a good portion of it was necessary to tell this story and show the severity of the events within it. I loved the art, animation, and character designs. 7/10 for the Mardock movies.

The casino scene went on for way to long in a film this short. I'm also struggling with seeing Shell as a victim after the previous 2 films. I know he's insane after having his memories removed, but it's still a hard sell for me.

The animation and art were top notch though.

It's finally over!

I finally finished it!! I could have finished it last Summer 2014 But i didn't for some reason.

I do agree, that the casino took awhile, but i really enjoyed the scene :)

It kinda makes me want to try, but damn i don't want to risk these kind of money that can be gone in one swipe!

I admire Balot's courage and testament to endure all of this all throughout. A normal person would have gave up let themselves killed if this were happened to them.

I kinda lol'd Bell wing was kinda helping her find her path and even things out with that dealer :P

Still betting 2 million is not an easy task :O

I feel sorry for the dealer's brother dying in the desert like that. Must be one hellish nightmare to die in intense heat with blackness surrounding you with no hope of surviving.

The animation is superb! And the final battle between Balot and Boiled is amazing!!!! Definitely one of my favorite fights ever!!!

Just wish it was kinda longer a bit, but i'm satisfied.

That fat guy having all those children and sexually abusing them. Kinda coincidence their staying in the same hotel. Hope he rots in a cell as well.

Damn that Shell guy. Always trying to run away from his problems. At least we've gotten some info from his past and how his mother sexual abused him and killed her. That's how he's insane search for more victims started.

I wonder if he's rotten in jail right now? I'm pretty sure Balot put him in a safe place in order for him to not be killed by Boiled.

Finally Boiled can rest now. Must be hard for Oeufcoque to kill his own partner with his own hands.

Great stuff!! Did the novel or manga ended the same way? Is there any continuation?

To be honest they could potentially make a sequel here. Balot is now official part of the company and now will be helping victims that are being treated like this.

It could be like Ghost in the Shell and all!!

Overall i'm satisfied with the movies!! If they can make TV continuation with the scenario i mentioned above, now that would be more godly!! More action scenes like Balot vs Boiled and all!!

If Project K has a TV series, movie and season 2. Mardock Scramble really needs one as well!!

I hope Tow Ubukata and his team makes another one this kind!! We need more cyborg punk killer lady Animes!!!!

Hayashibara, Megumi is amazing as Balot!! I hope we get more roles like this from her!!! Love her performance here!

So next stop. I'll probably watch Ghost in the Shell ARISE since Tow Ubukata also directed that and compared it to the original movies and Stand Alone Complex.

I give this a 9/10 for the whole trilogy. Even though we spend a lot of time in casino, it was definitely an interesting experience!!!

I think Venom900 is right about "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" There was a lot of dominating wills throughout the movie.

Not sure if this is a tag but I see this theme very strong in the movie and I think it has a lot to do with the end. Might also be why the casino scene was considered long by some. Balot was mentioned as having a fear of loosing. Win or loose, don't be intimidated into being what you are not. This is what led Balot to win at the casino. After being a victim and then a perpetrator (forcing her will over oeufcoque and "violating him") she found to let it all go and be herself. For not doing so was the true way of loosing. That is why the finale dealer considered her a true winner.

The ending I think, but not sure, has to do with the code that Oeufcoque had to maintain to be allowed to exist. When Boiled was killed, either by oeufcoques's will or Boiled's will using his metallic implants over Oeufcoque to suicide, I think was considered a breach of this code. Just my guess but either this or his own mortality mentioned in the "Paradise" I gathered the feeling that Oeufcoque was near his end.
That is my 2 cents and any more clarity would be appreciated.

Great Anime with a fascinating subtext!
I don't know if anyone mentioned it but the anime explains a system of different personalities in a dissociative disorder which is often the result after a rape. The paradise in the second part is a shelter place in the mind of runes host. She is also just one of these split characters, because in one scene you can see, that she is actually a blonde girls. Another point is runes voice. Sure she has not her own voice or can't remember it, because she is just one of the dissoziative character and therefore she has no own voice, she could use in reality. The mouse is also one of the multiple personalities, which helps her to solve her traumatic problems, they also talk in a kind of "telepathie" (ok in this movie it is explained with other methods) which is a way for dissotiative systems to communicate and sometimes I thought the mouse could represent her soul, too. Actually every of her enemies are at least her emotional conflicts she fights with the help of her therapist (the doctor). There are also many other hints. Just inform yourself in a forum for dissociative disorders, to find the link to the substory, if you don't believe me.

Not bad at all. The first half was better than the second half. I was surprised we got 30 more minutes of the casino.

The second half was fine, but I enjoyed the action scenes in the second movie more.

7/10 for all three movies.

Animation and art sucks as hell, 3/10 for it.
Story was interesting, so I decided to give 7/10 as final score. I would give a 8, but because of shitty CG art, I just can't. GoHands never produced something that looked even average. Their anime always sucks if it comes to visuals.
It's not a troll post of course, their productions just looks awfully bad. This is not a way to use CG. This is a perfect example how CG shouldn't be used.
If you liked it, then you don't known how good animation and art should looks like.
GoHands is the same shitty quality level like Production IG (after 2011), or Sunrise (after 2013). Their budgets may be high, but they spent that money on wrong things in production process.

Every anime uses CG in this times, but not every looks like shit.
Using rotoscopic animation is a good thing, it saves a lot of time and looks like hand drawn animation. Using raw 3D models and perspective + oversaturating everything (like GoHands) = shit.
