THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The more I look @ Nanami, the more she reminds me of Suzuka. Some flashbacks are shown I think. Mini Eba is kinda cute when she was little imo. Same goes with the others. Dat yukata. The episode felt a bit slow for me though. |

I am not watching this series, but I do read the manga. Anyway, it looks like the anime is on the part where Haruto shows how gay he is for Kazama. I mean, seriously, just keep watching the anime, and if it haven't change anything from the manga, you will agree with me in that nobody loves Kazama more than Haruto. Yuzuki is Kazama's "girlfriend," but at least in the manga, I don't know about the anime, she had not even kiss the poor bastard. On the other hand, Haruto is always trying to encourage the dude, and even gave him love bentos. |

Lots of time have been wasted on the flashback, Some scene are also repeated multiple times. So far this is the worst episode ever of all. However I do like the series, the character development are quite great and I'd say it is the best Romance anime I've ever watched. |

Crappy drawing and animation, as usual. |
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances. He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter. Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga. Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month. Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel. The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck. |

At the pace they're going, interweaving parts of the Hiroshima arc along the way, I'm still curious where they're going to end or if Gonzo is going to do an anime original ending |

I really wonder what part of this anime will end... The episode is quite nice, since we got their childhood flashback. |

Hoping that it'll pick up the pace soon, I expect that the first Volume of BD/DVDs won't sell because of nearly half the episodes being flashbacks. :( I hope we'll have another season because Things finally got happy and fluffy in the manga and I'm loving it. At this pace the anime won't be able to animate those parts without cutting out a lot of the good parts. |

This anime decided to pull an inception... a flashback within a flashback... lol |
"I am the bone of my sword, Steel is my body and Fire is my blood, I have created over a thousand blades, Unknown to Death, Nor known to Life, Have withstood pain to create many weapons, Yet, those hands will never hold anything, So as I pray, unlimited blade works" |

I literally said "what" at the end. I can't believe they ended with a cliffhanger! >o< Anyway, adorable flashback of when they were tiny. xD My shoujo feels hit me so hard. I love the childhood friend trope, even though it's still kind of cliche. spudnick2010 said: This anime decided to pull an inception... a flashback within a flashback... lol true LOL Shirubaasouru said: Crappy drawing and animation, as usual. Really? It's sometimes awkward (like the opening) but I love the colours they use and the dreamy/whimsical feeling. It's really similar to Shinsekai Yori's art. Lots of sunsets and warm colours used together to give some kind of nostalgic effect overall. |

Well, the art quality sure plummeted after episode 2. They just jumbled the whole plot line after it too. I don't understand why they keep flash-backing to edited flashbacks like where he claims he first met her crying at the shrine during the festival and then in the recent episode he finds her walking around and gives her candy apple. It's two different versions- I don't care if the basic point was that they watched the fireworks together, these people need to get their story straight. On a side note, I really don't like Eba. I don't know why, she's not a detestable person, but her constant dependency on Haruto (ex: "I can't do anything without you! DON'T LEAVE MEEE! Oh, by the way, I'm going back to Tokyo and all") and decisions she makes based on her feelings just pisses me off. And Haruto is a retarded narrator. He calls her 'strong' and 'brave' and 'shy' when she's just the opposite in every category. He pisses me off just as much, with his wimpy-ass behavior and back and forth moments. Sure, he didn't mean to pretend to be caught playing the boyfriend of a girl he used to like, get kissed by the stepsister of his girlfriend who also insulted his girlfriend, and end up touching the boob of his classmate who is clearly interested in him, but seriously?! You expect your girlfriend to still trust you after that? But after all, it's Eba. She's probably just using him. And even if she does love him, their love is close to bordering the repulsive puppy-love line. All these side chicks like Kanzaki and this new blue-haired girl are getting my nerves too. Why are they all falling for the same guy? What's wrong with Takashi? At least Kanzaki has some self-respect and didn't over complicate things too much. Akari is the only likable female in all of this. Overall, we all know what's going to happen. Stuff's gonna get complicated, the new blue-haired woman is going to have her heart broken and probably throw a tantrum before attempting to play the good guy by advising Haruto to tell Eba he's not over her. Kazama is going to find out, one way or another, and encourage Haruto to try and steal his own girlfriend as if it's all some sort of competition and she's the prize or he may go pathetic on us and tell Haruto to have at her. Meanwhile, Eba, being the delicate, easily-swayed main female character with a 'tragic' background we aren't actually shown (except for the stepsister, who seemed to be a mixture of drunk and bored-so-I-went-slut) will fall in love with him again and they will run in the field of grass or streets or whatever, communicating through united monologue telepathy before throwing themselves in one another's arms and making out. Yep, this anime is gonna be a disappointment. |

Yep, this anime is gonna be a disappointment. I have to ask: is this based on the manga or the anime or some weird mixture of the two? Who is the stepsister you're talking about that seemed drunk? What scene is that from? When does he say that he met her crying at the shrine? Of course, she did start crying immediately after meeting him (it is practically identical to the manga, BTW.) Really, it is hard to understand what you wrote in a lot of ways. When you say "all these side chicks like Kanzaki" do you mean Haruto or Kyousuke? [EDIT: OH, you mean chicks like Nanami Kanzaki... I get it now... If you think Nanami didn't complicate things, you haven't read the manga... I assume they will show the rest of that story eventually, but she complicated things plenty!] In general, Haruto is the harem magnet in this story. Who is the "new blue-haired" chick? If you could use character names it would help... As to what's wrong with Takashi, he is a total pervert and openly so, to the extent that he even creeps out his close friends. Anyway, the next episode will set up the real drama. This one was just character development for Haruto and Yuzuki. I expect there will be two or three more trips back into the past to highlight various parts of their relationship as it grew from acquaintances to friends to long distance lovers. There are several questionable translations in the Lag-Chuu translation. For one thing, they were in about 3rd grade when they met at the festival, not 3 or 4 years old. (Akari actually moved to Haruto's town in 2nd grade, so it couldn't have been before then.) When they parted ways at the festival, Yuzuki should have said: "There is really something else that I hated but I feel like everything is going to be alright now." Haruto's response is what he says to her in the "present" in the anime: "Then... if anything happens again, come here." (Indicating that if she has a problem she can't deal with, come see him and he'll make it all better. That is how it is presented in the manga, at least, and the reason that Yuzuki came to Hiroshima to go to high school in the first place, in addition to the fact that she was harboring a crush on the boy she met at the summer festival there several years earlier... Yes, she admits that eventually. She has loved him since they were about 8 years old. If you think this little thing with Kazuma is going to stop that, you got another thing coming... Red string of fate, my friends. That is what ties the two... If you give the anime a chance, the story might surprise you. If you have read the manga and still think it won't be good, then it just isn't for you. |

My thoughts exactly... Neer said: A bunch of flashbacks and stuff I've already seen for 20 minutes and we're back at the same cliffhanger as last week. Disappointing. @zensunni This statement would only makes sense if the anime was complete and you could safely say they followed the manga to the letter (which sadly, sometimes isn't the case). The anime and manga may need to be judged separately based upon the completion of both ... zensunni said: If you give the anime a chance, the story might surprise you. @zetsunni TL from chuu here. I admit I did translate third grade as 3 years old, that was my bad and will be fixed for a new version and in future. But the ending of the episode translation yields. It is a bit different than the manga. |

Later there is a meeting Akari side story in 2nd grade which contradicts that. |

If you have read the manga and still think it won't be good, then it just isn't for you. I was talking about the anime, I've never heard of the manga until now. And the stepsister (I think she's a stepsister...because Yuzuki/Eba said her father remarried and then the redhead-green eyed girl said "She'll never be my real sister" or something- ah, her name is Rin Eba, she's the one who's jealous of Yuzuki) goes on a little hate-speech about Eba/Yuzuki (and sounds drunk the process) before kissing Haruto. I think it was in the second episode. Then, in that same episode (or maybe it was the third, sorry, I can't find the exact summaries) but basically in two separate episodes there were flashbacks to when they met. In the first flashback, Haruto finds Eba crying at the shrine, and then tries to cheer her up by bringing her to the lake. In the most recent episode, it flashbacks to Haruto meeting her in the festival, giving her a caramel apple to cheer her up, taking her to the lake to see fireworks, and then bringing her to take the picture with his friends before she says goodbye. It's not even a continuation of the first flashback scene of when they first met, it's just a completely different one. I don't know if this was done on purpose because this is secretly an anime with a time twist that screwed with character memories or something but if it's not vital to the plot-line, stuff like that tends to irk me into grumpiness. I actually have to agree about the Takashi part =P but still, I do find it slightly irritating that they make the main character a 'girl magnet' when he not only contradicts himself as narrator but also doesn't show any distinct quality of originality. Oh and the new 'blue-haired chick's name is Asuka- don't know her last name. And actually, I think I'll stick around for the rest of this anime (though I will complain on some parts) cause I was just spoiled a bit by wiki and let's just say, shit's going down. I'm am totally up for shit going down. |

More flashbacks? I wasn't expecting that this ep with last having not much if any at all. Well at least we finally got to see the much needed scenes of why Haruto knew something was wrong. Though I wish I knew how many eps this is going to be since unlike Keima I can't see the ending at all. I can't wait for next episode, since I finally get what I was waiting for this ep. :P |

Good episode, though with the pacing they're going with, i don't know how its going to end. wishing for a anime original ending (don't check spoiler if you haven't read the manga!) where Asuka has a good end Still digging the OP. Can't wait for a full version |

awww, haruto was so cute as child :3 and showing a girl he doesn't know a pond where "flowers bloom only once a year" was very, very cute as well x) but i don't know what to think about the fact they already met when they were younger. it's such a cliché and usually overused. i have to keep watching and see what they'll do with that. Spirai said: hmm, that's also my assumption. Yep, this anime is gonna be a disappointment. but i really don't know what to think about it yet. the anime isn't bad imo. i actually like the art style because it looks a bit old school and it's a nice variation, the music is okay, the character design is okay (it just freaks me out that i confuse character so often because they look slightly similar), the story is also average. so it isn't awful, just really average so far and it seems like a lot of stuff can be easily predicted. i hope there will be some plot twists and not just the typical complicated love drama. |

Those of us who read the manga, refers to it as "a town where you rage". There are a lot of rage moments to come (some predictable and some unpredictable). The anime will probably only touch on a tiny bit of the full story, as the pacing is really slow due to all the flashbacks. However the creators did make the right choice as to where the anime should kick off. |

Most of the anime adaptation is similar to the manga. It was a pretty good episode, the drawing quality could use a 'little' tweaking but other than that no complaints. |
